Roman Reigns' Hollywood aspirations 'nothing new,' Paul Heyman says, as WWE star reveals career plans
Reigns told Vanity Fair in a wide-ranging interview published Thursday he has about two years left in him after his current deal with WWE is up.
Reigns' contract with the company expires after WrestleMania 42, and he revealed plans for the rest of his full-time career.
"After I finish the contract that I'm in, we probably got another year or two max," he told the magazine days before his triple-threat match against CM Punk and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. "Then it's time to take on a less physical form of entertainment."
Paul Heyman, the longtime wiseman to Reigns' "Tribal Chief," told Fox News Digital hours after the story was published it was always the plan for the WWE great to shift to the Hollywood side of entertainment, but it had to be the right time.
"I would also suggest, in the limited space that media is provided to tell the tale of the quotes that they are given, that a lot of people are missing part of the story, which is this is nothing new," Heyman said. "Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman have been offered roles, projects, films, TV series, reality shows for the past several years.
"I can show you my phone right now, and there are people begging to fly up from Hollywood to take in a meeting either before or after WrestleMania about directing films, writing films, this project. And I'm not knocking indie films — I'm a big fan of indie films — but I'm not talking $1-2 million budgets. I'm talking real, substantial studio budgets. And, because of the schedule and because of commitments, neither one of us have jumped on that."
Reigns, whose real name is Joseph Anoaʻi, has already dipped his toes into the waters of the silver screen. He appeared in "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw," "The Wrong Missy" and "Rumble." He also has a role in an Eddie Murphy film, "The Pickup."
"So, Roman saying that this is a consideration of his and that it is something that he would like to exploit is nothing new, but under the current contract, he doesn't have the time and the amount of time in a block to pursue such goals," Heyman told to Fox News Digital.
"And as he looks at whatever the next deal may be, I'm sure he wants to carve out times that he can now expand his horizons and include that within his annual schedule."
Heyman will be a huge part of WrestleMania 41 and the events in Las Vegas. He'll be one of the guests for the Roast of WrestleMania featuring Tony Hinchcliffe after the second night of the event at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

WWE star Chelsea Green leaves social media after backlash for Hulk Hogan comments
WWE star Chelsea Green announced she was taking a break from social media on Friday night after she received backlash for her remarks about Hulk Hogan after the pro wrestling icon's death. Green, like many in the pro wrestling world, offered her condolences amid Hogan's death. She appeared on CBS News' 24/7 show on Thursday and called him an "absolute icon" despite his "polarizing political views." Hogan supported President Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential election and was already considered to be a polarizing and controversial figure after leaked audio showed him making racist remarks. He lost favor with some pro wrestling fans because of it. Green's remarks about Hogan drew backlash from fans on social media, and she addressed them in an initial post. "A significant part of my role at @WWE involves engaging w the public & responding to questions, often on live platforms," Green wrote on X. "Yesterday, I was asked to comment on Hulk Hogan on live tv. Let me be clear: my stance on racism is unwavering. I do not condone it—period. "If my response (or tweet) seemed dismissive of real concerns, I sincerely apologize. That was never my intention. I tried to acknowledge a death respectfully, even when the legacy is complicated. I am learning one day at a time and will continue to learn." The backlash appeared to continue, and Green stepped away from social media altogether. "I've tried to keep my page positive and comedic, but today, a lot changed… and it hit harder than I expected. The name calling, the death threats, the faceless accounts," she added. "Social media was supposed to be a fun place and it hasn't been for a while. It's been overwhelming and I need to step away for a little bit." Hogan died on Thursday after suffering a potential cardiac event at his home in Florida. He was remembered across the sports entertainment world. WWE paid tribute to him on "Friday Night SmackDown" with a video of his pro wrestling success and a 10-bell salute.

WWE SummerSlam 2025 Confirmed Matches And Expected Main Events

More Images) WWE SummerSlam 2025 will take place across two nights for the first time ever this year, and the two-night extravaganza is shaping up to be a show for the ages. Among the key attractions inside MetLife Stadium are a WrestleMania 41 rematch pitting Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship as well as the first televised bout between CM Punk and Gunther. SummerSlam 2025 set a SummerSlam record with nearly 58,000 fans in attendance, and this year, more than 40,000 tickets have been sold for each night. The 2025 edition of WWE SummerSlam will mark Cena's final SummerSlam appearance as part of his official retirement tour. WWE SummerSlam 2025 Match Card for Saturday Last Friday, WWE revealed the match card for each night of SummerSlam 2025. There are currently six matches scheduled for Night One on Saturday, Aug. 2: Country singer Jelly Roll is stepping in as a celebrity replacement for rapper Travis Scott after the latter reportedly had a "falling out" with WWE. The WWE Women's Tag Team Championship is also a surprise addition to WWE SummerSlam as Bliss and Flair were originally set to face each other in singles action before Flair requested that the parternship continue due to the mismatched duo's surprising early success. WWE SummerSlam 2025 Match Card for Sunday WWE's second night of SummerSlam will take place on Sunday, Aug. 3, and there are just five announced matches thus far: Styles vs. Mysterio was originally scheduled for June's Night of Champions but was postponed due to an injury to 'Dirty Dom.' Also noteworthy, if Valkyria fails to beat Lynch in their 'Last Chance' match, she will not be allowed to challenge for the IC title again as Long as 'The Man' is champion. WWE SummerSlam 2025 Main Event Matches According to a report from the Wrestling Observer (h/t Sports Illustrated), 'The WrestleMania 41 rematch between John Cena and Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship is the expected close the show on Sunday. As for Saturday night, the World Heavyweight Championship bout appears to be the front runner for the main spot.' The site adds, 'Gunther vs. CM Punk is the favorite to cap off night one of SummerSlam over either of the two Women's World Title matches or any other marquee contest on the card.' In March, Punk faced Gunther at a non-televised live event in Belfast, but the two stars have never faced each other at a WWE PLE. In addition, Seth Rollins was at one expected to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase in or after that main event match, though it's unclear if Rollins' knee injury has altered those plans. If Rollins does cash in, it could mark the second consecutive WWE pay-per-view that ends with a MITB cash-in after Naomi's epic title win at Evolution. WWE SummerSlam 2025 Additional Matches The lone confirmed match that has not been officially set for either Saturday or Sunday was announced in a red hot show-closing segment on the latest SmackDown: A 6-way TLC match for the WWE Tag Team Championship. The SmackDown tag team division has been one of the brand's overlooked bright spots in 2025, and it certainly has more than enough teams to make some more magic. After previously being left off several major pay-per-views, the WWE tag team titles will finally be on the line at a marquee show. The Wyatt Sicks will defend their gold against the following teams: Andrade and Rey Fenix, The Street Profits, DIY, The Motor City Machine Guns and Fraxiom. Suffice it to say, this division has been left off too many marquee shows thus far, but it won't happen again at SummerSlam. Given that only five matches have been announced for Sunday in comparison to six on Saturday, the TLC match is likely to be added to Sunday's portion of WWE SummerSlam 2025.
