AMMK, AIADMK set aside differences to oust DMK: TTV
DMK
remains, despite differences of opinion with
AIADMK
. He said at a press conference that his party had been a member of
NDA
before AIADMK rejoined.
Asked if AMMK feels its existence is under threat after AIADMK joined NDA, Dhinakaran said it is the DMK that feels threatened by the NDA. "Our goal is to oust DMK from power. Amma's party (AIADMK) has joined with the same ambition. We may have had our differences with the party's leadership. But, we have set them aside for the common goal," he said.
Asked about AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami's comment that 'alliance is about AIADMK and BJP, while Dhinakaran is claiming to be a member,' he said AMMK and O Panneerselvam were part of NDA when the alliance faced the general elections, while AIADMK contested separately.
"It is wrong to say that the Union govt did not provide grants to the state govt for not adopting the three-language formula," he said in response to OPS's criticism of the Centre in this regard. "People should be allowed to learn a third language if they prefer. We will oppose if the Union govt mandates Hindi as the third language," he said.
On EPS's response that 'time will answer' the question of reinducting
TTV Dhinakaran
in AIADMK, TTV said , "Time will not answer. I will answer myself in December when the alliance takes shape." He also objected to renaming Kallar hostels as social justice hostels, saying, "Changing names does not mean anything. Our minds should change."

‘Rahul Gandhi Makes False Claims, SC Has Commented On It': Rijiju Quotes PM Modi After NDA Meet
Last Updated: A resolution was passed during the meeting acknowledging the success of Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev, 2 military operations launched in response to terrorist threats. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, speaking after the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting on Tuesday, cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of routinely making false and misleading statements. Addressing reporters after the meeting, Rijiju said, 'The Prime Minister clearly stated that when Rahul Gandhi makes false statements, even the Supreme Court has had to comment on it. This is a lesson for all of us — never to say anything untrue." The NDA Parliamentary Party meeting was held in Delhi and was addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who reflected on the coalition's journey since its formation in 1998. Rijiju said the Prime Minister shared insights from his leadership across three consecutive terms and laid out the roadmap for the NDA's future. A resolution was passed during the meeting acknowledging the success of Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev — two recent military operations launched in response to terrorist threats. The NDA lauded the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces, with Rijiju saying the meeting paid its respects to the sacrifices and valour of the soldiers. Rijiju also hit out at the Opposition for stalling Parliamentary proceedings. 'This is the third week of the session, and not a single bill has been passed. The Opposition is continuously disrupting Parliament," he said, calling on all parties to cooperate in legislative work. He further criticised Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge for allegedly misleading the House by claiming security forces other than marshals were deployed in the chamber — a claim, Rijiju said, was refuted by the Chair. 'Only Marshals are allowed to enter the House. Kharge Ji's letter to the Deputy Chairman was completely wrong and intended to mislead the nation. We reject it," he said. Rijiju also accused the Congress Party of prioritising dynastic politics over constitutional values. 'The Congress considers one family above the Constitution. They do not respect Parliament or the country," he said. Bills On Tribal Reservation, Manipur Expected Rijiju informed that the government will introduce a bill to provide reservation to tribals in the legislative assembly in the Lok Sabha and aims to pass a bill related to Manipur in the Rajya Sabha. 'We will begin our efforts today, but for that, the Opposition must stop the chaos," he added. As the NDA gears up to push ahead with its legislative agenda, the government has made it clear that parliamentary disruption will not be tolerated, and that misleading the public — especially by senior leaders — will be publicly countered. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. PM Modi to address NDA parliamentary party meeting today amid Parliament deadlock over SIR
New Delhi, Aug 5 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address a crucial meeting of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) parliamentary party today, as the Monsoon Session of Parliament continues to be paralysed by Opposition protests over the Election Commission's special electoral roll revision in Bihar. This is the first full NDA parliamentary party meeting since the beginning of the 18th Lok Sabha and comes ahead of the nomination process for the Vice-Presidential election, which begins on August 7. While BJP parliamentary party meetings are a regular feature during sessions, this expanded format reflects the BJP's post-2024 strategy to consolidate its alliance partners, including the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). According to sources, the Prime Minister is expected to take stock of the legislative logjam and the Opposition's persistent targeting of the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Bihar, which the Opposition alleges is being conducted to benefit the ruling coalition. The Monsoon Session, which began on July 21 and will continue till August 21, was scheduled to have 21 sittings. However, it has largely been a washout so far except for a two-day discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor due to the Opposition's continuous protests against the SIR exercise by the Election Commission of India. The Vice-Presidential poll strategy will also be on the agenda, following Jagdeep Dhankhar's sudden resignation as Vice President due to health reasons, with two years remaining in his five-year term. His resignation has initiated the process for nominating a new Vice President. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, BJP national general secretaries, and senior NDA leaders are expected to deliberate on the nomination for the Vice-Presidential election, scheduled for September 9. With a numerical majority in the electoral college, the NDA's nominee is expected to win the contest comfortably, if challenged. The NDA is also likely to formally felicitate the Prime Minister for the government's swift response to the April 22 terror incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which security forces launched a high-profile counter-terror operation. The meeting is also expected to focus on strengthening coordination mechanisms within the NDA bloc amid heightened political friction in Parliament. UNI AJ AAB
