Ditch Google's newest phone and get £350 off this Pixel 9 model - 'the camera is insane'
Google is set to unveil its newest smartphone range, the Pixel 10. Launching at its Made By Good event on August 20, the phones will be unveiled at 6pm UK time. Expected to come packed with a host of new feature updates, another boost to its AI functions, and potentially new cameras, but a new deal proves shoppers don't have to go for a flagship model.
Amazon has cut a huge £350 off last years Google Pixel 9 Pro device, as the interest around the flagship Pixel 10 soars shoppers can now make a huge saving on last years model. Today's newest launch is a step up from its predecessor siblings; the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro devices.
The Pixel 9 Pro is still supported by Google - and will be up to 2031, Thich means users will be able to download the latest software, they also have great cameras, and quality screens. As the price drops to a much cheaper £649 instead of £999.
Making it a great option for shoppers who are not fussed about having the latest and greatest device. It's rare to find such a huge discount on the device, and in line with consumer trends often followed by Apple and Samsung too, last year's devices are now hundreds cheaper.
There's currently lots of places where Google shoppers can find discounts on the Pixel 9 Pro. The biggest, and one we've flagged first, is Amazon's £350 discount. Next up is Sky, and its option for pay-as-you-go shoppers - priced at £23 a month and with a £12 upfront fee.
Over at Argos, and the price is also £649. There's also a budget option with the Pixel 9a device, which is currently £399, this doesn't have all the qualities as the usual Pixel range and has been designed as a 'watered down version' to match the cheaper cost.
Back to the Pixel 9 Pro and one of it's standout features is the camera. It has a triple rear system, allowing users to get focused close ups, sharp selfies, and rich colours. This happens to be a feature which won over our team member, Tom Capon, as he bought the device for himself.
Having used it for a few weeks to date, Tom says the camera 'is insane', as he explained: "The camera is all you need to worry about here. The camera is, in fact, insane - so much so that I need to reconsider my own skincare routine.
"Everything from filming my gym routine to taking a photo of my cat is enhanced to such a degree that it's now my favourite function on the phone. What's more, the self-facing camera is still leagues ahead of the 7 or any other phone I've used.
"It's really night and day - if you take photos on your phone, for me, the Pixel 9 Pro is the absolute top of its game." Tom was previously an avid iPhone user but swapped to Android devices six years ago and swapped to the Pixel when 'he heard good things' about the durability.
He continued: "I opted for the Pixel 9 Pro as I needed a sharper camera and something to keep up with the most recent software updates. However, I ended up staying for all the bells and whistles.
"Smartphones are hard to upgrade as there's only so much convenience you can get in one machine. But this bad boy came packed with adaptive battery (which switches over to power saving mode when I stream YouTube videos for hours at a time) and adjustable bedtime settings to make sure I'm not exploding blue light into my retinas just before bedtime."
One feature which he hasn't been 'blown away by' however, is the battery, as he says it's not been revolutionary like other models, as he streams a lot of audiobooks and podcasts which hits the length. However, if these are ditched, he says the phone does "easily last all day and night without a charge."

The gadget, which boasts a stellar 4.5-star rating, has been hailed as "superior" to Dyson and "powerful" despite its compact design, reports the Express. Manchester Evening News journalist Bethan Shufflebotham put the fan through its paces. She revealed: "Despite its compact size of no more than 30cm in height or width, this Honeywell fan packs a punch. I've never felt the need to try a Dyson fan, as this device does an excellent job of keeping me cool during the summer months while working from home. It even outperforms the £20 tower fan I bought from Aldi in 2022." "The fan arrives fully assembled, making setup a breeze," Bethan noted. It features a three-metre cable and can tilt by 90 degrees. "Its sleek and minimalist design is far from an eyesore, and its lightweight nature allows for easy room-to-room movement," Bethan enthused. "Given its price, I'd recommend getting two - one for upstairs and one for downstairs." This fan boasts three speed settings and can be wall-mounted or used as a desk fan. Despite its power, Bethan was particularly impressed with its quiet operation. She noted: "The slowest speed is almost silent, making it perfect for work calls during the day, watching films or catching up on Love Island, and it doesn't disturb my sleep when used overnight. "The medium speed setting produces a gentle hum, delivering more of a breeze, but still, there's no need to reach for the volume button on the telly remote. The highest setting is noisier than the others, but no noisier than other fans we've tested over the years, and it's more than worth it for the performance." The fan has earned a top-notch customer satisfaction rating of five stars out of five on Amazon. One satisfied shopper said: "Extremely quiet, even on full power. Very strong breeze, a lot better than my Dyson hot and cold fan. Cannot fault this." Another added: " This fan is an absolute powerhouse. I have no clue as to how it can be so powerful for its size, but fair play to Honeywell. It's easily at least 10 times more powerful than the Dyson fan (a really bad purchase) we also have." However, one user was not impressed with the design of the settings switch, stating: "It's a decent enough fan in terms of airflow. The main problem is that the switch is in an awkward spot to turn on and off." The cooling device is available for next-day delivery, and Prime members won't face any delivery charges. But if you want to grab this fan at it's newly reduced rate, you'll want to act fast as there's now telling how long this sale will last. Google unveils its most expensive smartphone yet
Published: | Updated: Google fans' long wait is finally at an end as the tech giant unveils its latest generation of AI–powered smartphones. Among the four new devices is Google's most expensive smartphone ever, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. With prices starting at £1,749 and going up as high as £2,099, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold comes in as one of the costliest foldables on the market. But with an overhauled design featuring a gearless hinge, larger outer display, and massive battery, Google is hoping this top–of–the–line model will be worth the price. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold boasts a 6.4–inch outer screen and can fold out to reveal a massive 8–inch inner display. But the real selling point is that Google is calling this its 'most durable' design yet, with a hinge that can survive 10 years of folding. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is available for pre–order today and will be available from October 9. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold has been launched today alongside the Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL. Pixel 10 Pro Fold The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is launching with three storage options – 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB – costing £1,749, £1,869, and £2,099 respectively. That massive price tag puts the Pixel 10 Pro Fold on par with the newly released Samsung Galaxy Fold 7, which costs up to £2,149. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold features 'aerospace–grade' aluminium construction and is available in two colours: a grey colour called Moonstone and a green tone called Jade. Google has succeeded in making its latest foldable impressively thin, at just 10.8mm thick folded and 5.2mm unfolded. That is a good deal thinner than the 7.2mm unfolded thickness of the Motorola Razr 60. Compared to the previous Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, this latest offering is an upgrade in almost every way. Thanks to thinner bezels, the outer display has grown from 6.3 inches to 6.4 inches – making it the largest foldable outer display outside of the Chinese market. Both the inner and outer displays have also been upgraded to the latest Actua display, with a dazzling maximum brightness of 3,000 nits that should make them usable in the sunniest conditions. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold's battery will now be 5,015 mAh, up from 4,650 mAh on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Google says that this should give '30+ hour' battery life and the capacity to charge up to 50 per cent in just 30 minutes. Those new charging capabilities also include the magnetic 'Pixelsnap' system, which allows the Pixel 10 Pro Fold to stand up in a wireless charging stand, even when unfolded. The new generation of the Fold features an updated 'triple rear camera system' featuring a 48–megapixel main camera. That might not be as impressive as the 200–megapixel main camera on the Samsung Galaxy Fold 7, but it is on par with the 48–megapixel main camera on the iPhone 16 Pro. In addition, there is a 10.5–megapixel ultrawide camera and a 10.8–megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and up to 20x digital zoom. Perhaps the most exciting selling point is Google's overhaul of the foldables' durability. Google says the folding mechanism now utilises a 'gearless hinge' which is twice as durable as the hinge on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. According to the company, it should comfortably survive up to 10 years' worth of folding. Critically, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is also the first foldable to have an 'IP68' resistance rating, meaning it is completely dust resistant and can be submerged in three feet (one metre) of water for 30 minutes. In theory, that should avoid the problem of dust or sand getting into the hinge, which can be catastrophic for some other foldables. On the inside, Google has boosted the Pixel Pro Fold's capabilities so that it can make the most of the company's latest AI features. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is powered by Google's new Tensor G5 processor and boasts an impressive 16GB of RAM. This latest foldable will get all the same Google AI features as the other Pixel 10 phones in the lineup. That includes Gemini Live, Magic Cue and Daily Hub, as well as picture editing tools like Add Me, Best Take, and Camera Coach. What else has been released today? The other big announcement from Google today is the reveal of the new Pixel 10 lineup. The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL come in as Google's latest line of flagship smartphones, and are significantly cheaper than their folding counterpart. The new devices start at £799, £999, and £1,299 respectively and are available with a number of storage options at varying price points. The most expensive model, the Pixel 10 Pro XL with 1TB of storage, comes in at £1,549 – making it identically priced to the comparable Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. All three phones will be Google's first to ship with the new Material 3 Expressive UI, and will use the Tensor G5 processor. The Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro both feature a 6.3–inch display, while the Pro XL features a substantial 6.8–inch display. The Pixel 10 is available in four colours: Obsidian, Frost, Indigo and Lemongrass. The camera has been upgraded to include a 48–megapixel main camera, a 13–megapixel ultrawide, and a 10.8–megapixel telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. The Pixel 10 Pro includes improvements over the Pixel 10 in almost every area, featuring a bigger battery, more RAM, upgraded speakers, and faster charging speeds. The Pixel 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL also feature an impressive 48–megapixel telephoto camera, capable of up to 100x zoom with the 'Pro Res Zoom' feature. The Pixel 10 Pro is available in the colours Obsidian, Porcelain, Moonstone, and Jade. All three new phones will be available from the Google Store and retail partners from August 28. Alongside the new phones and foldable phones, Google is also releasing the Pixel Watch 4 and two new sets of headphones. The Pixel Watch 4 costs between £349 and £499 and is the first smartwatch to use a domed Actua 360 display and support standalone satellite communication. The new headphones, the Pixel Buds 2a and Pixel Buds Pro 2, include better audio and Google Gemini integration.

Google Gemini upgrades add more autonomous AI to phones and watches
Google's latest Gemini AI upgrades attempt to anticipate what useful information you made need from your life to address a potential issue, make you to better photographer or become your personalised health and sleep coach. Shipping on the just-announced Pixel 10 Android phones, the new Magic Cue feature enables the chatbot to comb through your digital life and pull up relevant information on your phone just when you need it. Leo Gebbie, a principal analyst at the research firm CCS Insight, said Google was 'arguably positioning on-device AI more effectively than any of its rivals' and that the Magic Cue feature was 'an early step towards the much-vaunted agentic AI experiences, which have been promised on smartphones for some time'. He added: 'Google can take advantage of the fact that most Android users will already have heavily populated apps such as Gmail, Calendar and Maps with their personal information, and it is now drawing this data together in a more helpful way than ever before.' The Pixel 10 has a 6.3in OLED screen and an upgraded imaging system that includes a 10.8-megapixel 5x telephoto camera for the first time, taking the number of cameras on the back to three, compared with two on previous models. The Pixel 10 Pro comes in two sizes with a 6.3in or 6.8in screen and features three cameras on the back including a 48MP telephoto camera capable of 10x optical zoom. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold becomes one of the first folding phones to feature the full IP68 water and dust resistance common among standard slab phones, as Google attempts to allay durability concerns of the flexible screen. It features a similar camera system to the Pixel 10. The phones also support various AI photography features including the new Camera Coach that uses Google's AI servers to analyse the scene in front of the camera to suggest different framing, angles and lighting to take a better photo. The Pixel 10 starts at £799 (€899/$799/A$1,349) and the Pixel 10 Pro starts at £999 (€1,099/$999/A$1,699) and ships on 28 August. Google also unveiled the Pixel Watch 4 smartwatch, which brings Gemini to the wrist and can act as personal AI heath coach. Part of the new Fitbit app, Gemini can create personalised fitness and sleep plans, measure the impact of training in real time and answer health and fitness questions chatbot-style. The Pixel Watch 4 is available in two sizes and has a domed screen that is 10% larger than its predecessors. It is the first smartwatch to offer SOS satellite-based emergency services when off the grid, starting with the US. The device is also the first Google smartwatch to be designed for serviceability including battery and screen repairs, finally catching up to Apple and Samsung. It costs from £349 (€499/$349/A$579). Meanwhile, the Pixel Buds 2a are a cheaper version of Google's compact Bluetooth earbuds and cost £129 (€149/$129/A$239). They have a same Tensor A1 chip as the company's top Buds Pro 2 earbuds, and have noise cancelling and integrated Gemini AI assistant. The Buds 2a charging case is also designed with a replaceable battery, although the earbuds themselves are not repairable.
