KPWKM targets 1,500 single mothers for KasihnITa 2025 programme
Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri stated that the initiative focuses on equipping participants with legal knowledge, financial management skills, and personal development training.
Originally introduced in 2023 and now rebranded, the programme will be conducted across six zones nationwide, from Perlis to Sabah.
'This year, the Prime Minister approved an allocation of RM1.6 million for implementation in all six zones. The programme is open not only to divorced women but also those abandoned by their husbands or with seriously ill spouses,' Nancy said during the launch at a hotel here.
She highlighted that many single mothers struggle with alimony claims or lack awareness of legal assistance due to concerns over costs.
The programme, running from August to December, is a collaboration with the Syariah Lawyers Association of Malaysia, AKPK, and psychological experts.
Nancy emphasised proactive interventions to help single mothers secure alimony and encouraged those in need to contact the ministry or visit its official website for support.
'Online access is available for those unable to travel,' she added.
KasihnITa aims to build confidence and resilience through extended training rather than short-term courses.
'Financial training will aid household income management, legal aid will protect rights, and counselling will support emotional well-being,' Nancy said.
Registration, which opened on May 16, closes on July 31. – Bernama

LAWAS (Aug 1): Two agricultural projects under the Integrated Village Economic Development Project (Prospek) are expected to transform Lawas into a key livestock producer in Sarawak, according to advisor to the Sarawak Premier's Office for the Rural Projects and Programmes Monitoring Division, Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim. The projects — buffalo farming in Kampung Long Tuan and corn cultivation in Kampung Long Kachu — are part of efforts to establish the Limbang Division as a producer for iconic livestock. During a site visit to Ulu Trusan on Thursday, Rohani highlighted the innovative approach of the buffalo farming project, which features Malaysia's first buffalo pen constructed with concrete pillars. 'This is a buffalo farming project, and we are seeing a new site being opened with pens made from concrete. If implemented, it would be the first of its kind in Malaysia,' she said during the visit, which followed a briefing held at Seri Malaysia Lawas Hotel. Rohani was accompanied by Lawas MP Dato Henry Sum Agong during the visit to the Prospek sites. On the corn cultivation project, Rohani noted that 13 participants from Kampung Long Kachu are involved in planting activities spanning 13 acres. The corn serves a dual purpose: export to foreign markets and livestock feed for the Lawas area. 'The participants have applied for additional allocations, as their corn crops support both export sales and livestock feeding needs,' she explained. Rohani, a former Minister of Women, Family and Community Development and previously Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industries, praised the creativity shown by local participants, describing the projects as highly successful. Encouraged by the positive developments, she pledged to submit a report supporting applications to expand both projects in the Trusan area. RHB Bank seals 20-year insurance and bancatakaful deals with Tokio Marine and Takaful Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's RHB Bank on Friday said it entered exclusive 20-year bancassurance and bancatakaful agreements with Tokio Marine Life Insurance Malaysia and Takaful Malaysia. Takaful Malaysia refers collectively to insurer Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga and its unit. In Malaysia, conventional insurance and bancatakaful agreements, which provide sharia-compliant insurance options, allow insurers to sell their products through a bank's distribution network. Under the agreements, RHB will receive up to RM1.6 billion (US$374.27 million) in access fees over the agreement duration for exclusively distributing conventional life insurance and takaful products through its branch network and digital channels in Malaysia. Paramount expects property market to remain soft in 2H25
Paramount Corp Bhd group chief executive officer Jeffrey Chew. PETALING JAYA: Property developer Paramount Corporation Bhd expects the property market to remain soft in the second half (2H) of 2025 without any catalyst to boost it amid concerns over US tariffs as well as rising costs due to the fuel subsidy rationalisation and Sales and Service Tax (SST) expansion. Group chief executive officer and director Jeffrey Chew Sun Teong said that to date, the company has managed to achieved RM600 million sales out of the targeted RM1.6 billion sales for this year as buyers are holding back due to the rising cost of living. "Everybody is concerned over the US tariffs. Then, with the impending cost escalation because of the fuel subsidy rationalisation and SST (expansion), people are holding back a bit. So sales are a little softer. "There is a possibility that we may have to revise our sales target (for this year),' he told a press conference after the company's investor relation and media presentation here today. Chew said the food and beverage (F&B) segment is expected to be the second largest contributor to the Paramount group's earnings after the property segment. Paramount Corporation yesterday announced its unit Venice Concepts Sdn Bhd's proposed acquisition of a 28 per cent stake in Envictus International Holdings Ltd from JAG Capital Holdings Sdn Bhd for S$38.33 million (RM126.32 million). Singapore-based Envictus is the franchise holder of Texas Chicken and San Francisco Coffee in Malaysia as well as a wholesaler of foodstuff and frozen food. It is also involved in the dairies segment through the manufacturing and distribution of sweetened and evaporated creamer. According to Paramount Corporation's filing with Bursa Malaysia, Envictus recorded an unaudited net profit of RM16.11 million on revenue of RM369.78 million for the six-month period ended March 31, 2025. Paramount owns two restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, namely Dewakan -- Malaysia's only 2-Michelin Star restaurant for two consecutive years since 2024 and a Michelin Green Star recipient in 2025 -- and Bidou, a newly established restaurant offering classical French cuisines. Commenting on the San Francisco Coffee business, Chew said the company sees an opportunity to turn the coffee outlets into fast food and quick snack cafes as the coffee market is becoming oversaturated with more newcomers coming in. "The food (at San Francisco Coffee) is quite good. There are a lot of variety of wraps and some pastries, but a lot of people are not aware of it.
