Legendary Colts owner Jim Irsay dies
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has died at 65.
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay died Wednesday at the age of 65, the team announced in a statement.
Irsay began working for the team when his father acquired the Baltimore Colts in 1972, becoming the club's general manager in 1984. He oversaw the team's day-to-day operations beginning in 1995, after his father Robert Irsay suffered a stroke.
Jim Irsay, though, had plenty of interests away from the gridiron. Notably, he was a fan of pop culture – specifically music – and invested some of his $4.8 billion fortune into creating one of the most impressive collections of music memorabilia in the world.
Here's what to know about The Jim Irsay Collection and what comprises it.

What is the Jim Irsay Collection?
The Jim Irsay Collection is "a robust collection of historic and culturally-significant artifacts" that Irsay amassed over his lifetime, according to its official website. It primarily consists of "musical instruments and items owned and used by the greatest artists in music history."
The collection includes signed photos, handwritten lyrics, and other historic music memorabilia from the following artists:
Bob Dylan
The Beatles
Prince
Eric Clapton
Elton John
Jerry Garcia
Les Paul
David Gilmour
Jim Morrison
Pete Townshend
Jimi Hendrix
John Coltrane
The Edge
Janis Joplin
Kurt Cobain
Irsay frequently loaned his collection out to museums, including the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Since 2021, it has been touring the United States as part of a traveling showcase and concert series meant to share Irsay's love of music with others.
Irsay's collection isn't just limited to music-related artifacts. He also has memorabilia from President Abraham Lincoln, Steve Jobs and Muhammad Ali, among others.
That said, the biggest draw of The Jim Irsay Collection is his assembly of guitars, which Guitar Magazine in 2022 called "the greatest guitar collection on Earth."

NWSL Denver announces NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning as newest member of club's ownership group
Hall of Fame NFL quarterback Peyton Manning may be more well known for his time with the Indianapolis Colts, but he still has strong ties to the city of Denver, where he finished out his career. NWSL Denver announced Manning as the newest member of its ownership group Tuesday. Team controller owner Rob Cohen said the group was "incredibly proud to have" Manning as a partner. 'Peyton's legacy as a champion and a leader is second to none,' said Cohen. 'His impact on Colorado sports is unmatched, and we're incredibly proud to have him as a partner. He brings passion, insight, and deep local roots — all of which will help us shape the future of Denver NWSL.' Advertisement Manning also issued a statement, saying he was, "Proud to support the growth of women's sports and excited to help build a club that our city and our state can rally behind." Denver was announced as an NWSL expansion team in January. The team — which does not have a name yet — will begin playing in 2026. Manning is not the only athlete to be part of the club's ownership group. Skier Mikaela Shiffrin was announced as part of the club's ownership group in May. With the move, Manning joins his brother — former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning — in the NWSL. Eli is listed as an investor with Gotham FC, New York's NWSL team. Advertisement Peyton teased his addition to Denver's ownership group with a short, humorous video featuring Eli. After leaving the Colts following the 2011 NFL season, Peyton joined the Denver Broncos for the final four seasons of his career. He put up excellent numbers with the team, winning the MVP award during the 2013 season and leading the Broncos to a Super Bowl championship in 2015 before his retirement.

Jim Irsay's funeral included 10 speakers, attendance by former Colts coaches and executives
Colts owner Jim Irsay, who died 13 days ago at 65, was remembered on Monday with a funeral in his adopted hometown. Via Gregg Doyel of the Indianapolis Star, the two-hour service featured 10 speakers. The funeral also included a performance by John Mellencamp, who played Pink Houses. 'He asked for this song to be played,' Mellencamp said. Attendees included Colts coaches Tony Dungy, Jim Caldwell, Chuck Pagano, Frank Reich, and Shane Steichen. General Managers Bill Polian, Ryan Grigson, and Chris Ballard also were there. Said Mellencamp as he exited: 'As we all go on, think of Jimmy from time to time and what he did for this community. And let's hope his dreams come true.' Irsay did much for Indianapolis. He was colorful and gregarious and complicated and flawed and ultimately, like the rest of us, human. He inherited an NFL franchise and did his best to make it as good as it could be, both as it relates to on-field performance and off-field impact on the town the team calls home.
