UAE participates in Beijing International Book Fair 2025
ABU DHABI (WAM) The Ministry of Culture (MoC) is participating in the 31st edition of the Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), taking place in the Chinese capital from June 18 to 22, 2025. The UAE's presence reflects its ongoing commitment to advancing global cultural dialogue and deepening its strategic partnership with the People's Republic of China.Moc's participation comes as part of the national pavilion 'UAE Pavilion', inaugurated in the presence of Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, UAE Ambassador to China; Mubarak Al Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture; Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre; and Rashid Al Kous, Executive Director of the Emirates Publishers Association.The event saw wide participation from federal and local government entities, academic institutions, and Emirati publishing houses, aiming to showcase facets of the UAE's creative landscape and deepen cultural and intellectual exchange with the People's Republic of China.The UAE programme features a rich array of activities, including literary panels, traditional performances, children's reading and art workshops, and curated displays of Emirati publications. Visitors also learn about major national initiatives such as the Golden Visa recommendation service for creatives, the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, the 'Kalimah' translation project, and grant programs supporting publishing and translation. These efforts underscore the Ministry's strategic investment in intellectual and cultural development.A dedicated Emirati Chinese Archive within the pavilion celebrates the longstanding historical and cultural ties between the two nations, showcasing key moments of cooperation in publishing, translation, and the creative industries.Commenting on the UAE's participation, Mubarak Al Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, states: 'Our presence at the Beijing International Book Fair affirms the UAE's commitment to fostering cultural connectivity and creating meaningful international partnerships, particularly in Asia. Culture is a vital strategic bridge that promotes understanding, mutual respect, and collaboration between peoples.'He adds: 'We believe that supporting publishers and creatives is an investment in the future of knowledge and in building a well-read, culturally aware, and globally connected society. With this vision in mind, the Ministry of Culture has empowered writers through the National Grant Program for Culture and Creativity. To date, the program has supported more than 30 Emirati creatives in the fields of authorship and publishing, including books, magazines, and digital media. This reflects the Ministry's broader commitment to sustaining and advancing local cultural production.
Recognised as one of the world's premier literary events, the Beijing International Book Fair draws thousands of publishers, authors, and cultural professionals from across the globe. The event features a broad program of professional and public events, including the Chinese Book Award Ceremony, PubTech Conference, Artistic Publishing Forum, World Children's Book Forum, and Beijing International Illustration Forum, alongside specialised exhibitions such as the Beijing Picture Book Fair, International Art Book Fair, and Cookbook Fair.

We're a dollarised economy with low inflation, a good road network, and strong trade and container handling port can serve as a strategic hub for storage and depots. Facing the Pacific, we have direct access to Asia and India, without the need to cross maritime canals. Increasingly, companies are using Ecuador as a warehousing hub for grains, fuel, and other products, directly connected to the Chinese, Indian, and Southeast Asian markets.Q: How important are UAE green investments in supporting Ecuador's efforts to meet its climate commitments, transition to a more sustainable energy matrix, and attract additional foreign green investments?A: We have an ambitious plan to diversify our energy matrix, and we are seeking investments in geothermal energy by tapping into our active volcano chain for electricity generation. We have barely exploited 1-2% of our solar capacity, so there is huge potential in solar also amended laws to expedite investment processes – energy projects that used to take two to three years can now be established within six months. But for four young coders studying at 42 Abu Dhabi (42AD), being in tech goes beyond trends: it's about transforming dreams into reality, turning data and code into game-changing innovations, empowering others, and dedicating themselves to creating solutions that would make an impact in the UAE and beyond. On International Youth Day, observed every year on August 12, these young talents spoke to Aletihad about their passion, aspirations — and a relentless drive to harness the best of technology for the common good. Asma Alawlaqi, an Emirati student at 42AD and Head of R&D at CloudLynq AI, has always believed tech is a powerful tool for change. 'Through my work at CloudLynq, I use coding as a tool to solve real problems, empower my community, and contribute to the UAE's vision for innovation,' she told Aletihad . Thriving in a largely male-dominated industry, Alawlaqi has never felt discouraged as a young woman in tech; she is certain her contributions count.'As an Emirati girl in the coding field, I believe we have the creativity and energy to shape the world we want to live in … I also hope my journey inspires other Emirati women to step into technology — knowing that their ideas and skills can make a global impact,' she Al Shibli, an information security specialist and a student at 42 Abu Dhabi, is another young Emirati woman who is determined to do her part in shaping the UAE's future in technology.'By using our skills to create solutions that benefit our community and lead projects that inspire others, we show the world that Emirati women can be at the heart of technology and innovation,' she women in the tech industry, Al Shibli said: 'Believe in yourself and keep learning. Finding Inspiration For Zubaydullo Abdirakhmonov, a software engineer, learning coding at 42AD has become a gateway to opportunities.'I was elected president of the Startup Club, which connected me to Abu Dhabi's wider tech and entrepreneurship community,' he said.'42 Abu Dhabi gave me the freedom to learn by building projects, working with diverse peers, and exploring AI creatively. It has helped me grow as a problem-solver, leader, and innovator.'Abdirakhmonov hopes to build AI-driven startups that matter. 'I want to create startups that solve real-world problems, especially through AI. I see myself contributing to the UAE's vision by building solutions that inspire and benefit the community.'Sharing a piece of advice to the youth: 'Be curious, stay consistent, and do not be afraid to fail. Every mistake is a step toward growth, and the UAE offers many opportunities to turn ideas into reality.'Software developer Alfakih Mohamed Abdellahi has always dreamed of launching his own venture, and it was when he came to Abu Dhabi that he found deep motivation to pursue that by the UAE capital's strong focus on technology and entrepreneurship, he joined 42AD to develop the skills he needed to bring his ideas to life.'42 Abu Dhabi helped me a lot as it allowed me to discuss problems and share ideas with others. I also met people better than me, which pushed me to improve my skills.'Patience and resilience have been key to his journey, Abdellahi said.'I do not consider myself successful yet because I have bigger goals to reach. The UAE sees this in action not only in major milestones but in the everyday contributions of young people across numerous policies in place and a clear roadmap for the coming years, the UAE is committed to bringing out the best in its young population, enabling them to reach their full the country, it is clear that the youth have a pivotal role to play in nation-building. Its National Youth Agenda 2031 has set five strategic goals to empower young Emiratis to become role models and increase their contribution to economic and social development, according to the UAE Government's official this agenda, the UAE's youth should be capable to actively contribute to the nation's growth; serve the community while adhering to Emirati values and principles; drive a positive change globally; keep up with the latest breakthroughs in advanced technologies and be highly proficient in mastering skills of the future; and enjoy the highest levels of health and quality of agenda aims to qualify more than 100 young Emiratis to represent the country in global organisations; provide the youth with suitable career pathways in the labour market; and place the UAE among the world's top 10 countries in terms of quality of life provided to its young population, among other goals that focus on empowerment and national Federal Youth Authority, established in 2018, has been steadfast in its commitment to nurturing the youth and creating an optimal environment to enhance their participation in society.
