BRICS Journalists Unite in Brazil to Promote Cultural Diplomacy, Media Cooperation

Ahmed Emam
The BRICS Press Meeting, organized by Toda Palavra in partnership with TV BRICS and TV Comunitária de Brasília, opened this week in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, bringing together journalists and media professionals from across the BRICS nations to foster deeper cultural and media collaboration.
The event began with a keynote speech by Marco Lucchesi, President of Brazil's National Library Foundation, who highlighted the rich cultural heritage of BRICS countries as a catalyst for integration and socio-economic development.
According to BRICS TV, Lucchesi introduced the concept of 'cultural diplomacy,' stressing its transformative potential across national borders.
'When we look at the cultural differences of BRICS, we grow even more,' Lucchesi noted. 'We multiply thanks to this great heritage of languages — constructions that have been passed down through the millennia.'
The conference emphasized how linguistic diversity and cultural exchange among BRICS members — Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa — could be harnessed to build mutual understanding and solidarity in a multipolar world.
Another key focus of the meeting was the growing role of independent journalism in challenging dominant global narratives and supporting balanced, diverse perspectives. Luiz Augusto Erthal, Founder and Director of Toda Palavra, said the event aimed to provide a platform for independent media voices aligned with the BRICS mission of multipolarity.
'The group was formed in the interests of multipolarity of power among nations and the construction of a more just world,' Erthal said. 'We are seeing many independent journalists making efforts to promote these changes.'
A round table discussion titled *'Developing Independent Communication Networks for the Southern Hemisphere'* brought together media professionals from BRICS member states, including Svetlana Shlyubul, International Projects Coordinator at TV BRICS. She emphasized the strategic importance of media collaboration for achieving meaningful integration.
'In today's world, the media is the main tool for shaping information reality and public opinion,' said Shlyubul. 'Coordinated and effective cooperation between the media is not only desirable but necessary.'
Fernando Horta, historian and researcher at Brazil's Ministry of Science and Technology, added that communication around BRICS initiatives plays a pivotal role in raising global awareness and reshaping international power structures.
'Public knowledge about BRICS' actions is fundamental to legitimising and strengthening integration processes,' Horta said. 'The current geopolitical transition in the world requires citizens to be informed about the new power dynamics.'
Participants agreed to make this forum a recurring platform, signaling a commitment to strengthen communication networks and reinforce the shared vision of a multipolar and inclusive global media landscape.
The BRICS Press Meeting marks a significant step toward closer media cooperation, cultural diplomacy, and the development of independent information ecosystems that reflect the diverse voices of the Global South.

Egypt Inks Deal with Chinese Shipyard to Build Two New Bulk Cargo Ships, Advancing Maritime Fleet Modernisation

Ahmed Emam Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel Al-Wazir, has witnessed the signing of a significant contract for the construction of two new bulk cargo ships between a state-owned Egyptian maritime transport company and a leading Chinese shipyard. According to TV BRICS, the agreement is a key step in Egypt's broader strategy, led by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, to position the country as a regional hub for logistics, transportation, and transit trade. Central to this vision is revitalising the national commercial fleet to boost Egypt's presence in global maritime commerce. Minister Al-Wazir said that the new vessels will be constructed according to the latest international standards for environmental sustainability and technological innovation. Each ship will feature a fuel-efficient hull design, advanced emission-control systems, and modern navigation technologies, with a cargo capacity of 82,000 tonnes. The vessels are expected to be delivered in September and November 2028. The contract marks another milestone in Egypt's ongoing efforts to modernise its maritime sector. With these additions, Egypt will have introduced six new ships into its commercial fleet over the past three years, renewing more than half of its operational fleet, which currently consists of 18 vessels. Al-Wazir also revealed that the government aims to expand its commercial fleet to 36 ships by 2030, reflecting Egypt's determination to strengthen its maritime infrastructure and enhance its competitiveness in the international shipping industry. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream

Belarus Sees Egypt as Trusted Partner and Gateway to Africa

H-Tayea Belarusian Ambassador to Egypt, Sergey Terentiev, has underlined the strength of political dialogue between Minsk and Cairo, which he described as the foundation of bilateral relations. This is reported by TV BRICS. Terentiev said that recent meetings, including those between the Igor Sergeyenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus and Egyptian officials during his visit to Cairo in May, have opened new avenues for strengthening ties. He described Egypt as a promising economic partner and a gateway to Africa for Belarusian companies. He emphasised country's readiness to share technology to support Egypt's needs, including in agricultural digitalisation, medical equipment supply and joint research. Belarus is also keen to provide modern, high-tech medical services to Egyptian citizens through advanced facilities and skilled healthcare professionals, alongside joint medical production projects. On education, Terentiev welcomed Egyptian medical students to pursue advanced training at Belarusian universities, which he said would enhance educational exchange and support the development of future medical professionals for both countries. The ambassador highlighted the strategic partnership's potential to open new markets for Egyptian businesses in Belarus and the Eurasian Economic Union. He underlined Belarus's interest in working with Egypt to boost pharmaceutical manufacturing and ensure high-quality medicines for both peoples. In agriculture, he said both sides are exploring ways to enhance productivity, sustainability and water management through joint research, technology transfer and initiatives addressing climate change, water scarcity and food security. Regarding tourism, Terentiev noted that Egypt remains a popular and trusted destination for Belarusian tourists. Israeli Media Reports Multiple Soldiers Killed in Gaza Amid Intensified Clashes

Ahmed Emam Israeli outlets report significant casualties among Israeli forces in several areas of Gaza, amid escalating fighting and complex ambushes by Palestinian militants. At least four Israeli soldiers have been confirmed killed following an ambush in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, according to Israeli media. The attack is reportedly part of a series of intense security incidents that erupted across multiple fronts in the Gaza Strip on Sunday. Israeli media reported fatalities and injuries among military forces during clashes in Khan Younis, Shejaiya, and Tuffah neighborhoods. Additionally, several soldiers were reported killed in a separate security incident in Jabalia, in northern Gaza. Although Israeli military censorship is limiting official details, unofficial Israeli sources confirmed that two major security incidents took place earlier in the day — one in the northeast of the Gaza Strip and another near Khan Younis in the south. According to these reports, at least three Israeli soldiers were initially confirmed killed and others critically injured in an anti-tank missile attack targeting a military vehicle. Five Israeli military helicopters reportedly evacuated the wounded to hospitals in Tel Aviv, indicating the severity of the injuries. Rescue operations in the area reportedly came under heavy fire, leading to prolonged clashes lasting several hours. In response to fears that soldiers might be captured, the Israeli military implemented the so-called 'Hannibal Protocol,' unleashing intense artillery and aerial bombardment to prevent possible kidnappings. While early reports suggested a soldier might have been abducted, subsequent Israeli sources clarified that the missing soldier was later found dead, ruling out any capture. The events coincided with heavy exchanges of fire between Palestinian factions and Israeli forces, particularly in Gaza's eastern areas, amid concerns of further ambushes or explosive devices. Israeli media described the attacks as among the most sophisticated since the resumption of hostilities, with Palestinian fighters reportedly employing well-coordinated ambush tactics that inflicted significant casualties on advancing and supporting Israeli forces. Although the Israeli military has not disclosed which specific unit was targeted in the attack, the army responded with widespread aerial and artillery bombardment in an effort to contain the fighting and prevent further losses or potential abductions. Preliminary estimates indicate that at least 10 Israeli soldiers have been killed since the beginning of July, compared to around 30 in June, reflecting a rising trend in the frequency and complexity of Palestinian military operations against Israeli forces. The situation remains fluid, with continued military operations and a heightened security presence throughout the Gaza Strip. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream
