Vikings host notable Big Ten running back ahead of NFL Draft
The Minnesota Vikings are heavy into the NFL Draft prep as they are continuing to host NFL Draft prospects as they get closer to the event. The league's annual selection meeting is just nine days away and the Vikings are set to host a notable prospect to work them out and get to know them better.
The team will be hosting someone that their franchise quarterback, J.J. McCarthy, should be familiar with in Kalel Mullings. The Michigan running back spent five seasons with the team and waited for his redshirt senior season to be the guy to lead the Wolverine backfield.
When he took over the offense, Mullings ran for 948 yards and 12 touchdowns. Most notably, he ran for 116 yards on 32 attempts against the Ohio State Buckeyes in their season finale upset.
Mullings would most likely be a day-three pick for the team and serve as a rotational option behind Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason. He could be a longterm play for the team but for now he has shown he is okay waiting for his opportunity and staying ready in the process.

Vikings WR Jordan Addison, Tai Felton exit practice with injuries

The Vikings are already looking for help at receiver. They're currently holding their breath as to the possibility that they could be looking for more. Via Alec Lewis of receivers Jordan Addison and Tai Felton exited practice and watched from the sidelines with apparent injuries. Felton, per Lewis, apparently injured his arm. Addison "jammed something" and watched the rest of the session from the sideline. Offensive coordinator Wes Phillips said before practice that it would have a scrimmage-style intensity. Via Kevin Seifert of the practice ended up being "pretty physical." Addision will miss the first three games of the regular season due to a suspension resulting from a DUI-related offense. Jalen Nailor is week-to-week with a hand injury. The best news for the Vikings is that All-Pro receiver Justin Jefferson recently returned to practice after missing multiple weeks due to a hamstring injury.

Jets bolster defensive line with trade for Browns' Jowon Briggs

FILE - Jowon Briggs answers a question during a Cleveland Browns NFL football rookie minicamp, on May 10, 2024, in Berea, Ohio. Sue Ogrocki/AP FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets acquired defensive tackle Jowon Briggs from the Cleveland Browns in a trade Wednesday that also included draft picks. The Browns also sent a seventh-round pick in next year's NFL draft to New York for a sixth-rounder next year. Briggs had 13 tackles with two quarterback hits in six games for Cleveland last season after being a seventh-round selection. The 6-foot-1, 313-pound D-lineman had 12 career sacks and 170 tackles during a college career that began at Virginia (2019-20) and finished with three years at Cincinnati (2021-23). Defensive tackle Byron Cowart has missed time in training camp with an ankle injury, so the addition of Briggs could help fill that void for the Jets if Cowart is sidelined for an extended time. ___
