Jenna Ortega opens up about working on her character
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress opened up about working on the series and how her journey has been so far with the show. While talking about the new season, she shared that things are 'grander' this time around. The plot, as well as the time taken on each scene, along with the new cast members, have all added to making the new show much better.
Ortega added that, 'We also play on the excitement that Wednesday got from having saved the school in the first season.
So it's nice to see her shut down again out of pure agony [from the attention]'. She also shared how some things just don't work on set, and how she manages to catch on to them.
'Sometimes I'll catch a glance of a shot and realise part of why a scene isn't working is because my posture's off, or my chin isn't tilted down enough, or that I'm not still enough', she shared in the interview.
What got Jenna Ortega and Tim Burton interested in the series in the first place
Ortega revealed that
Wednesday's lack of emotions
was actually a key factor that drew her to the role, resonating with the character's core essence.
Along with Tim Burton's involvement in his first-ever TV project, the actress revealed that Wednesday's character was also a significant draw for her, 'She's also one of the few protagonists who is able to get away with that, aside from villains — who tend not to have emotional growth or depth. …'.
Burton, on the other hand, was also intrigued by the idea of doing a TV series. He also shared that they went into the casting blind, saying that 'there is no show if there is no Wednesday'.

He shared, 'It was the idea of exploring something on a longer time frame, and she's an interesting character. As much as a middle-aged man could feel like a teenage Wednesday Addams, I feel those things. And she's a character that's all about being subtle because she doesn't really have a huge range of emotions'.
