UP to display industries, products at 5-day trade fair in September
The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government will display various industries and products at a four-day day trade fair in September, seeking to impress investors as it works to become a $1 million economy in four to five years.
The government will promote 12 industries at UP International Trade Show (UPITS) 2025: small businesses, agriculture and allied industries, energy, environment, health, education, electronics, defence, tourism, transport, electric vehicles, and finance. The third edition of UPITS 2025 is scheduled September 25 to 29 in Greater Noida.
"To propel the state's 'vocal for local' vision, the UPITS will promote exports and connect local producers with global buyers, and cement UP's position on the global investment map," said a senior government official.
Vietnam was UP's partner country last year when the five-day fair had buyers from 72 nations spanning Europe, Africa, North America, Latin America and Oceania.
As many as 35 UP government departments are planning the event this year. It will have 48 participants who will exhibit products and services of 12 sectors in a 50,000 sq metre space.
UP State Industrial Development Authority, Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority and UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority will participate in the fair.
"The prime focus will be on the MSME [micro, small and medium enterprises sector since it is a major job creator and contributes immensely to the industrial output and exports," said the official.
More than 30 per cent of the trade fair's exhibition space will be kept for MSMEs.
Products supported by geographical indication and One District One Product programmes will be showcased at UPITS 2025. Foods such as Agra's petha and Malihabad mangoes and artisan products like Moradabad brassware and Banarasi saris will be pitched for a global audience.

Yeida acquires 5,000 acres land for development
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) on Friday said it has acquired at least 5,200 acres of land in the last five years to develop projects, which will receive a boost due to their proximity to the Noida International Airport which is set to begin operations shortly. Yeida said it is preparing a land bank for the development of four new sectors — 4A, 5, 5A, and 11. These areas will include residential, industrial, and institutional projects, along with special zones such as the Japanese City, Korean City, and Fintech City. The authority plans to buy 5,000 acres more land directly from 2,000 farmers. 'We are talking to farmers and taking land from those willing to sell it. We have bought 5,200 acres in the last five years and the land purchase will continue ,' said Arun Vir Singh, chief executive officer of Yeida. Yeida said that the Korean City will come up in Sector 4A, where 365 acres will be needed, the Japanese City is planned in Sector 5A over 395 acres. In Sector 11, 750 acres will be used for the Fintech City. Sector 5 will focus on group housing and other residential projects, with land also being set aside for special facilities such as a children's home and orphanage. Multiple land use projects will be allowed in the Japanese and Korean industrial cities. This includes industrial, residential, commercial, and institutional land use to allow construction of residences, hotels, malls, and offices, and more. 'The aim is to provide all necessary facilities within the city, ensuring that Japanese citizens feel at home while preserving their culture. With the airport becoming operational soon, we are now working to bring all these major projects into reality,' said Singh.

Yeida to issue leases in JAL's Special Development Zone
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) on Thursday said it will execute fresh sublease agreements directly with developers whose projects fall within the Special Development Zone (SDZ) originally allotted to Jaiprakash Associates Limited (JAL). The announcement follows a March 10 ruling by the Allahabad High Court that upheld Yeida's 2020 decision to cancel JAL's 1,000-hectare land allotment but protected the legal rights of sub-lessees — developers who had acquired portions of the Sports City land for housing projects. 'We have decided to execute the fresh lease after the high court's decision… These developers can now apply through Yeida's online portal to execute new leases with us,' said Arun Vir Singh, CEO of Yeida. 'The court directed us to do so on the same terms and conditions as earlier agreements with JAL, but subject to recovery of any outstanding dues.' The order, issued by a bench of justices Manoj Kumar Gupta and Kshitij Shailendra, also mandated that Yeida issue individual notices to all sub-lessees within four weeks, publish a public notice, and complete lease formalities within 12 weeks. Developers will then have eight more weeks to sign the new sub-lease deeds. To protect buyers, the court further ruled that Yeida must bear the cost of stamp duty and registration. A total of 13 projects fall under this directive, comprising 10,134 approved flats and 3,230 residential plots across Sectors 19 and 25 — affecting an estimated 13,364 homebuyers. 'The online portal for sub-lessees to upload documents is live, and the deadline for submissions is June 21 — the same as that for individual homebuyers,' Singh added. Among the developers impacted, Gaur Sons' two high-rise projects in Sector 19 account for 3,104 flats, and its plotted project in the same sector includes 3,230 plots — more than 2,200 of which have already been sold. Other affected builders include Imperia Homes Planners (629 flats), and Royal Hometown Planners (480 flats). The dispute dates back to February 2020, when Yeida cancelled JAL's allotment over unpaid development charges dues. JAL had won the SDZ land in 2008 to develop a sports and education hub centred around the Buddh International Circuit but failed to deliver. After years of litigation, the high court upheld the cancellation while safeguarding the interests of sub-lessees. The court also directed Yeida to complete 12 partially built JAL housing projects under staggered timelines based on their stage of completion. While Yeida has formed a monitoring committee and is preparing a revival plan, the appointment of a new construction partner remains on hold pending a Supreme Court hearing on July 19.

YEIDA to hire agency to audit infrastructure projects off Yamuna Expressway
NOIDA : Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority ( YEIDA ) has decided to hire a third-party agency to monitor and audit the quality of its ongoing and upcoming works. This will ensure high construction standards and error-free execution of its major development projects. Its duties will include setting up testing laboratories, collecting material samples, arranging tests and submitting detailed reports to YEIDA on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. The reports will highlight any defects or quality concerns and the agency will also track whether corrective measures are taken by the project engineers. Last week, YEIDA issued a request for proposal for the selection of the agency. The last date to submit applications is June 9. The agency will provide regular feedback on material quality and workmanship to help prevent construction defects before they occur. The selected agency will be responsible for conducting both scheduled and surprise inspections across all stages of construction. A YEIDA official said, "With so many civic projects and infrastructure schemes underway — including Noida International Airport , Film City , Toy Park and the proposed Semiconductor Park — YEIDA is focusing on maintaining the highest quality standards," said an official. "Hiring a third-party quality assurance agency is part of that effort." The agency will be required to deploy staff based on the size and scale of the project. Smaller teams will be assigned works worth up to Rs 500 crore, while larger teams will be needed for projects of higher value. For road projects, the agency will ensure that the materials used and the thickness of layers meet the standards prescribed by the ministry of road transport and highways (MORTH). In the case of drains, sewers, water supply systems, buildings and electrical works, it will verify compliance with Indian Standards and accepted engineering practices. All development works, including those handled by project management consultants (PMCs) or other govt bodies, will fall under the scope of this agency's review. YEIDA will bear the cost of all lab testing and any special equipment needed. While the agency will issue recommendations based on its findings, the final decision to act on them will rest with YEIDA. Officials said YEIDA is currently involved in a wide range of development activities, including the construction of roads, drains, sewers, water supply systems, electrical infrastructure, overhead tanks, civil structures, horticulture and urban services. These works span residential, commercial, industrial and institutional areas.
