Pakistan wont extend PoR cards of Afghan refugees: Minister

Islamabad, Jul 19 (PTI) Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that the government decided not to extend the Proof of Registration (PoR) cards of Afghan refugees, according to a media report on Saturday.
He said this in an informal conversation with journalists on Friday, reported the Samaa News channel.
Currently, more than 1.3 million Afghan refugees in Pakistan hold PoR cards issued jointly by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees and the Government of Pakistan, granting them temporary legal status.
These cards expired on June 30, leaving hundreds of thousands of Afghans in a state of limbo.
The minister also said that Afghans who are now being deported from Pakistan will be blacklisted from re-entry, and clarified that this is a part of a broader national policy shift.
Pakistan launched a campaign in 2023 to expel all illegal foreigners, but Afghan refugees became the chief target. According to officials, so far, more than 800,000 Afghans have left Pakistan. PTI SH GRS GRS

"Suleman was an A-category commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba. Afghan was an A-category Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist. And Jibran was also an A-grade terrorist... All three terrorists who killed our citizens in the Baisaran valley have been eliminated..." Home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday made a big announcement in the Lok Sabha during the Operation Sindoor debate — that all three Pakistani terrorists who killed 26 people in the Pahalgam attack in April were eliminated in Operation Mahadev on July 28. The extent of their involvement in the Pahalgam attack, however, was stated on Tuesday by Amit Shah in Parliament. Shah said their identities were confirmed as such by those who had already been arrested by the NIA for having sheltered them. 'They were shown the bodies, and they said 'these are the men involved in the Pahalgam attack',' Shah said. 'We were not convince by that alone. We had already carried out forensic tests of the bullet shells found at the attack spot. On Monday, the encounter with terrorists began around 11 am when a joint team of the army, paramilitary and police detected terrorist activity in the Mulnar area of Harwan. Acting swiftly, the forces engaged the terrorists in an intense firefight, resulting in the deaths of the three heavily armed terrorists in the forested Lidwas area near Harwan, on the outskirts of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
