Smita Patil and Raj Babbar's son Prateik Patil, who recently adopted his mother's name as Prateik Smita Patil, revealed that Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar were ready to adopt him after the demise of his mother.
'I recently found out Shabana (Azmi) ji and Javed (Akhtar) sahab wanted to adopt me after my mother passed away. It was kind of complicated. I could've been Farhan's (Akhtar) stepbrother. I find these new things about me all the time. Aur kya hai, batao (what else is there, tell me). It's also very overwhelming. Ye hota toh main pata nahi kaisi zindagi jee raha hota (If this had happened, I don't know what kind of a life I'd be leading now)," Prateik told Zoom.

'There are many things I hear about me as a child. There was a custody fight for me in my childhood. I was so little, just crying, I had no idea what was happening with me. People wanted to adopt me," he continued.
'I'm very grateful for all the love she gets, and all the goodwill she has in the industry, among all her colleagues and friends. Shabana ji was definitely one of them, along with Javed sahab. Amit ji (Amitabh Bachchan) has always been very kind and supportive. I think everybody from her time, everybody she shared upon with, Naseer sahab (Naseeruddin Shah), Ratna (Pathak Shah) ji, the late great Shyam Benegal obviously. That was a different era. I recently found out about myself, I was conceived on the sets of Mirch Masala (1987)," the actor shared.
Prateik is currently enjoying the success of HIT: The Third Case, in which he played the lead antagonist. The survival action-thriller featured Nani, Srinidhi Shetty, Surya Srinivas, Rao Ramesh, Komalee Prasad, Nepoleon and others in prominent roles.

Homebound actor Vishal Jethwa brushes off rumors of rift between Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter: ‘Wo bahut hi…'
Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa are on cloud nine as their film, Homebound, had its screening at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. The movie received a standing ovation and much praise from the elite audience. However, on the other hand, a viral video left people guessing if things weren't right between Janhvi and Ishaan. And now, Vishal Jethwa has cleared the air and dismissed rumors of any rift between them. In an interview with Zoom, the Salaam Venky actor said, "Yeh sab baatein ban jaati hai. Aisa kuchh hai nahi. Maine Ishaan-Janhvi ko kaam karte dekha hai aur wo bahut hi comfortably kaam kar sakte hain (I have seen Ishaan and Janhvi working together and they are comfortable with each other)." Vishal also called the duo each other's 'well-wishers.' Talking about the viral video wherein Janhvi Kapoor reportedly ignored her Dhadak co-actor when he offered his hand at the red carpet of Cannes 2025, Vishal Jethwa explained what actually happened at that moment. The 30-year-old stated that he was the trail for Janhvi's outfit and was clueless about holding it properly. He added, "Main bas uski madad kar raha that. Janhvi jab upar chadh rahi thi, toh Ishan haath de raha tha par wo apne kapde hold karke khadi thi isiliye usne haath nahi diya hoga (I was just trying to help her. And when Janhvi climbed up the stage, Ishaan offered his hand. She was holding her clothes, which is probably why she didn't take his hand)." Dismissing the speculations about Janhvi being rude and disrespectful towards Ishan Khatter, Vishal mentioned that she is intelligent enough not to disrespect anyone. Furthermore, in the same interview, Vishal Jethwa reacted to allegations of being rude towards Ishaan. Addressing another viral video that showed him and Janhvi lost in conversation while Ishaan was busy in the interview, Vishal explained that Ishaan was trying to help him understand the question. The former said that until he could understand the question, Khatter began answering it, so he turned to Janhvi to know what exactly they had asked him. The Mardaani 2 actor mentioned facing trouble due to a change in language in Cannes, which was why he wasn't clear about the interview questions. Lastly, Vishal said, "I respect Ishaan immensely. I am thankful to him for always guiding me." For the unknown, Homebound received a 9-minute-long standing ovation following its big premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2025. Produced by Karan Johar, the movie faced a major controversy when the film's cinematographer, Pratik Shah, was accused of sexual misconduct.

Was Vishal Jethwa Rude To Homebound Co-Star Ishaan Khatter? Former Speaks Out
Vishal Jethwa is on cloud nine! His new film Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, just got a huge round of applause, a full nine minutes, at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. But while fans were busy praising the film, a short video from an interview started going viral. In the clip, Vishal and Janhvi Kapoor are seen chatting with each other, while Ishaan Khatter sits quietly, focused on answering a question. Some people on social media felt that Vishal and Janhvi were being 'rude" and ignoring Ishaan. Now, Vishal has spoken up to clear the confusion. In an interview with Zoom, Vishal reacted to allegations of being rude towards Ishaan. He clarified, 'Aisa bilkul bhi nahi hai. Uss waqt Ishaan mujhe help kar raha tha kyunki main voh question understand nahi kar pa raha tha. Vahan language issue yeh bhi hai ki log French mein baat karte hai. Uska translation English mein aur English mein bhi kaise baat karni hai main samajh nahi pa raha tha. Ishaan ne answer dena shuru kiya till the time I was talking to Janhvi to understand what they were asking me. Aisa zara bhi nahi hai main Ishaan ki bohot respect karta hu. Main bohot thankful hu kyunki main usse bohot kuch seekhta hu." (That's not true. Ishaan was trying to help me understand the question they were asking me. Since we were in France, they [the reporters] were talking in French. Due to that language issue, I had to understand what they said in French and what it meant in English and how I should answer it correctly. Ishaan started answering first. Meanwhile, I was talking to Janhvi to understand what they were asking me. I respect Ishaan immensely. I am thankful to him for always guiding me.) Homebound, produced by Karan Johar, had its big premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2025. The film hasn't got a release date for theatres yet. Homebound recently faced controversy when the film's cameraman, Pratik Shah, was accused of bad behaviour and misconduct. After the news came out, he deleted his Instagram account, which made people start guessing what was going on. The production team shared a statement later. 'Mr. Pratik Shah was a freelancer on the project Homebound and was working on it for a limited period. His engagement with us has been completed. During this limited period, our internal committee for POSH didn't receive any complaints against him from any cast or crew on our film Homebound," read the statement.
