Georgia football scheduled to play five ranked opponents
The Bulldogs and coach Kirby Smart don't have to face a grueling road schedule like they did in 2024, but UGA will play a lot of tough games at home, which is expected to put Georgia's 31-game (nation's longest) home winning streak in jeopardy.
Georgia begins the 2025 campaign with games against two non-Power Four opponents in Marshall (Aug. 30) and Austin Peay (Sept. 6). The Dawgs will then face nine Power Four opponents over the final 10 weeks of the regular season.
Seven of Georgia's nine Power Four opponents received votes in the preseason Coaches Poll, but only five received enough votes to be ranked. Both Auburn (50 votes) and Georgia Tech (27 votes) received among the top 40 most votes in the poll.
Every ranked opponent on Georgia's schedule
No. 18 Tennessee Volunteers (Sept. 13)
Georgia plays Tennessee in the Bulldogs' first road game of the season. The Georgia-Tennessee game will be the first SEC game for both teams. Both Georgia and Tennessee made the College Football Playoff last season and are breaking in new starting quarterbacks. Tennessee is the only ranked opponent (in the preseason poll) Georgia has to play on the road all season.
No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide (Sept. 27)
Georgia will look to change its fortune against Alabama. Both Georgia and Alabama have bye weeks ahead of their critical matchup in Week 5. Georgia will look to snap its losing streak against Alabama in front of a big crowd at Sanford Stadium.
No. 15 Ole Miss Rebels (Oct. 18)
Ole Miss dominated Georgia in 2024 and the Bulldogs will look to return the favor in 2025. Ole Miss lost a lot of talent to the 2025 NFL draft, but Lane Kiffin and company reloaded via the transfer portal. This should be a fun one in Athens.
No. 17 Florida Gators (Nov. 1)
Georgia meets Florida in Jacksonville after both teams have bye weeks. The Gators have one of the toughest schedules in the country, but have been slowly closing the gap on Georgia in recent years. Will Florida be able to beat Georgia for the first time since 2020? We'll find out in early November.
No. 1 Texas Longhorns (Nov. 15)
QB Arch Manning and Texas roll into Athens looking to get the better of Georgia after going 0-2 against the Dawgs in 2024. Texas will be making its first ever trip to Georgia as a member of the SEC and looks like a national championship contender.

Could Georgia Tech wreck the ACC?
Josh Pate explains why the Yellow Jackets may be one of his favorite sleeper teams for the 2025 season. Subscribe to 'Josh Pate's College Football Show' on YouTube. View more Video Transcript Georgia Tech. Yep, anyone want to talk about Georgia Tech? The ACC is open. You, Clemson, and what? Clemson and hoops, if you will. Well, Georgia Tech, they're not a mystery to me. I already took the over. It's my favorite bet of all the ones that we, I'm not gonna say cashed, but I already feel good about this thing cashing. Buster Faulkner is the offensive coordinator here. Speaking of cashing in, he just cashed in. It's the first time I think a coordinator has been a seven-figure earner there, and he has earned it. He was at Georgia. He could have stayed at Georgia. He could have waited for a quote-unquote bigger job. He took a chance professionally and he went with Brent Key at Georgia Tech and now he's being rewarded for it and they're being rewarded for it and they got Clemson at home in week three and I'm really looking forward to it because I think that could be one of those sleeper games of the year. Elsewhere, they get Georgia in Atlanta later in the year. There's a disgusting corporate name on the game. They're playing it at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It's worth like $12 or $13 million more dollars for them. I get it. I don't like it. I get it. But outside of that, if you look up and down the schedule here, question, where else are they a point spread underdog? At Colorado? No. Temple, no; Wake, no; Duke, no; Syracuse, no; NC State, uh, Georgia Tech could be favored in 10 of 12, and the two that they're not favored in are both in Atlanta. I like them a lot. Close

Bama in the NFL: Will Reichard, Bryce Young among preseason Week 1 standouts
This past weekend marked the beginning of what will be a loaded season when it comes to former Alabama Crimson Tide football players in the NFL. Starting with Week 1 of the NFL Preseason, not all of the program's former players at the professional level took the field in action this past weekend, as a majority of teams did not play their starters across the league. There were however still a large portion of former Alabama greats in action, which included many of the Crimson Tide's rookies from the 2025 NFL draft. Taking an overall look at the former Crimson Tide greats however, here are five Alabama standouts from Week 1 of the 2025 NFL Preseason. Will Reichard, Kicker - Minnesota Vikings Reichard was a big reason as to why Minnesota defeated the Texans, 20-10, making both of his field goal attempts from 48-and-38 yards out. The former Alabama kicker also made both extra point attempts. JK Scott, Punter - Los Angeles Chargers Scott was active during Los Angeles' 27-13 win over the Saints, punting the ball six times for a total of 290 yards, which translates to an average of 48.3 yards per punt. The Chargers punter also had a long of 58, while also downing two inside the 20-yard line. Bryce Young, Quarterback - Carolina Panthers The former Heisman Trophy winner did not play much during Carolina's 30-10 loss to Cleveland, but made the most of his limited action after drawing starting at quarterback. Young, who was sacked once, completed 4-of-6 passes for 58 yards and a touchdown, while also owning a passer rating of 137.5. Jalen Milroe, Quarterback - Seattle Seahawks Milroe took social media by storm Thursday night with his performance in Seattle's 23-23 tie against the Las Vegas Raiders. Overall, Milroe completed 6-of-10 passes for 61 yards in his debut with a passer rating of 77.5, while also rushing for 38 yards on three attempts. John Metchie III, Wide Receiver - Houston Texans Lastly, Metchie had a strong showing in Houston's 20-10 loss at Minnesota, hauling in five receptions for 45 yards to lead the Texans in receiving. Metchie also made an impact on special teams, returning a kickoff for 23 yards.
