Balenciaga, Maison Margiela Among Highlights of Provisional Paris Couture Schedule
PARIS — Demna's final haute couture collection for Balenciaga and Glenn Martens' debut for Maison Margiela will be among the highlights of a thinned-out Paris Couture Week, the provisional calendar released Monday by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode confirmed.
As reported, Dior is sitting out the season following the arrival of Jonathan Anderson at the creative helm of womenswear. He succeeds Maria Grazia Chiuri, who showed 31 haute couture looks as part of her swansong cruise collection in Rome last week.

Jean Paul Gaultier is also taking a break after appointing Duran Lantink as creative director, switching from its strategy of seasonal guest designers. The Woolmark Prize winner is set to show his first ready-to-wear collection for the house in September and will make his couture debut next January.
Also dropping off the calendar this season are Alexis Mabille, Julien Fournié, Gaurav Gupta, Maison Sara Chraibi and Miss Sohee.
There will be 27 shows on the four-day fall couture schedule slated to run between July 7 and 10, with Schiaparelli kicking off proceedings on the Monday at 10 a.m. and Germanier closing the week at 5:30 p.m. on the Thursday.
Balenciaga will stage its annual couture show on July 9 at midday, after which Demna will move to Gucci and hand the baton to Pierpaolo Piccioli, who was confirmed as the brand's new creative director last month.
Meanwhile, Martens will inaugurate his tenure at Margiela with an Artisanal collection due to be unveiled on July 9 at 7:30 p.m.
After presenting his first couture collection for Valentino in January, Alessandro Michele is sitting out this season. The Italian house announced in September that it planned to show couture once a year in Paris.
Among those returning to the official calendar are Iris Van Herpen, who has also moved to an annual calendar for her couture collections; Robert Wun; ArdAzAei and Adeline André. Syrian-born, Dubai-based designer Rami Al Ali will be making his debut on the official calendar on July 10 at 2:30 p.m.
Chanel, Giambattista Valli, Zuhair Murad and Stéphane Rolland will stick to their usual time slots. Chanel is showing its last collection designed by a studio team ahead of Matthieu Blazy's debut show as artistic director in October.
Giorgio Armani Privé's two shows will take place at July 8 at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., instead of 6 and 7 p.m. previously, while on July 9, Elie Saab has moved to 2:30 p.m. from 12:30 p.m., and Viktor & Rolf to 4 p.m. from 4:30 p.m.
Juana Martin and Ashi Studio have moved up by two days and will now be showing on the Tuesday at 3:30 and 4:30 p.m., respectively.
In another eagerly awaited debut, Michael Rider will present his debut collection for Celine on the eve of Paris Couture Week with a fashion show on July 6 at 2:30 p.m., as previously reported. It is not yet clear if the display will feature womenswear, menswear or both.
Patou will show its spring 2026 women's ready-to-wear collection on the same day at 5 p.m.

RedMagic's 10S Pro Is One of the Most Powerful Phones I've Ever Tested
The RedMagic 10S Pro gaming phone, announced Thursday, might be the most powerful Android phone of 2025 so far, and it has quite the power boost over last year's RedMagic 10 Pro. The new device, which starts at $699 (£579, roughly converts to AU$1,230) for 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage, includes a "Leading Edition" of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. My review unit is the midlevel $849 model with 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage, while RedMagic's highest-end model is $999 for 24GB of memory and 1TB of storage. But power is clearly the showcase of the 10S Pro, and in my early benchmarks using the graphically demanding 3D Wild Life Extreme test, the phone pulls one of the highest scores I've ever seen. The 10S Pro heartily beats last year's 10 Pro and the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro, which run on the earlier edition of the Elite processor. The 10S Pro even beats the $1,300 Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra while costing hundreds of dollars less. In real-world use, this means the phone easily handles high frame rates and graphics settings in Android games that provide them. I often test Mortal Kombat Mobile and Dead Cells since both titles include support for high frame rates, and the phone quickly boots them up while running at 120 to 144 frames per second. I similarly had confidence in cranking up the graphics in other titles like Asphalt Legends, in which cars go flying in frequent collisions. And in a test that is less reliant on the processor, I used Xbox Cloud Gaming to play Doom: The Dark Ages, which benefits from the uninterrupted 1.5K-resolution display (2,688x1,216 pixels) that places the front-facing camera behind the display. Mike Sorrentino/CNET That 6.85-inch display is largely the same as the RedMagic 10 Pro's, which runs at a 144Hz refresh rate and can reach a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. The screen also includes the same 960Hz touch sampling rate, meaning it's very responsive to quick taps in games that rely on that. RedMagic says the 10S Pro also gets an improved cooling system, and its 7,050-mAh battery can recharge at 80W speeds. RedMagic's phones also include a suite of gaming optimization software, which lets you adjust settings such as the power consumption of games, the option to force titles to run in vertical or horizontal orientation, and customizable controls that include using shoulder-button-style sensors or a virtual joypad with buttons. Fans of RedMagic phones who don't already own the RedMagic 10 Pro will likely appreciate the upgrades offered here, especially in terms of performance. RedMagic also improved its software update support with the 10S Pro, with a company representative stating that it will get three years of both major software updates and security support. While that's nowhere near the seven years of support we're seeing from Google and Samsung, it's much better than the RedMagic 10 Pro, which is only receiving one major software update and three years of security updates. Mike Sorrentino/CNET RedMagic's phones are still tougher to recommend outside of the gaming-focused audience who understand that the device's biggest selling point is the powerful specs sheet. When setting up the phone, I still encounter a lot of software enabled by default that interferes with enjoying the phone out of the box. This includes a camera watermark that needs to be turned off to avoid turning every photo you take into an advertisement for RedMagic, a RedMagic-specific news feed that replaces the Google version that's typically seen on Android, and a few apps that cannot be uninstalled, like Daily Wallpaper. Mike Sorrentino/CNET The camera is also a much lower priority for a phone like this, especially since the 16-megapixel under-display selfie camera will make you appear a bit fuzzy on video calls. This is the same photo at CNET's New York office, but taken on the 50-megapixel main camera. Mike Sorrentino/CNET The rear camera system includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 2-megapixel camera that's said to enhance photo quality in certain modes. The camera's lenses are flush with the phone's body and do not have a bump. While the Asus ROG Phone 9 costs more money at $1,000 and is now -- on a power level -- slower than the 10S Pro, it offers a more balanced experience between being a phone, camera and gaming device. Its software is closer to a stock Android experience, but it does offer lots of gaming optimizations, similar to what RedMagic provides on this phone. But if you're a big Android gamer and want the most powerful specs for less money -- and you understand the tradeoffs RedMagic makes to achieve this -- the 10S Pro is currently the most graphically powerful phone out there until the next wave of gaming phones arrives.

Samsung loses exclusivity over overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite, thanks to this phone

This is the first non-Samsung phone to feature an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, but it also has a cooling fan. The new phone starts at $699 and is broadly available via the company's website. The Samsung Galaxy S25 phones use the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, which is an overclocked version of the flagship processor. Now, the first non-Samsung phone has arrived with an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and it might be the performance king of 2025. REDMAGIC has announced the REDMAGIC 10S Pro, and it indeed has the so-called Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Version processor. This offers a peak CPU clock speed of 4.47GHz and a peak GPU frequency of 1.2GHz. By contrast, the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite chip tops out at 4.32GHz and 1.1GHz, respectively. Our own testing previously showed that several phones with the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite processor overheated during GPU stress tests. Fortunately, REDMAGIC's new phone offers a cooling fan (24,000RPM) to keep temperatures down. But even the presence of a fan wasn't enough to stop the earlier REDMAGIC 10 Pro from severely throttling and delivering sky-high temperatures. So I'm not feeling optimistic about the 10S Pro's sustained performance under heavy load. Nevertheless, you still have other cooling measures like a large vapor chamber and 'Liquid Metal 2.0' tech. REDMAGIC 10S Pro: What else does it have? Supplied by REDMAGIC The gaming-related features don't end here. You can also expect capacitive shoulder triggers, RGB lighting, and a so-called Magic Key that takes you to the GameSpace menu by default. Thankfully, this button can be customized for other tasks. The REDMAGIC 10S Pro also offers a 7,050mAh battery, which should deliver long endurance on paper for your gaming sessions. This is paired with 80W wired charging via a bundled charger. Just don't expect wireless charging here. Other notable features include a 6.85-inch 144Hz OLED screen (1.5K) with a 16MP under-display selfie camera, a 50MP+50MP+2MP triple rear camera system, an IR blaster, and REDMAGIC OS 10.5 atop Android 15. A closer look at the phone also reveals the welcome presence of a headphone jack. REDMAGIC 10S Pro pricing and availability The good news is that this gaming phone will be available in a variety of markets, including the US, via the REDMAGIC website. Other notable locales include Asia-Pacific markets, Europe, the Middle East, and the UK. The REDMAGIC 10S Pro starts at $699 / £579 / €649 for the base 12GB/256GB model. It began the year on a weak note, primarily impacted by declining gold prices and concerns regarding costs and production delays. However, things started to improve as gold prices surged—thanks to global uncertainty and increased purchases by central banks. Thus far in 2025, NEM has made a solid recovery, regaining a significant portion of its previous losses. Although it isn't breaking records, it's now in a more favorable position than it was at the beginning of the year, with a year-to-date gain of 44%. The movement in Newmont's stock price aligns with that of its peers, which include Wheaton Precious Metals (NYSE:WPM) that has risen 58% and Barrick Gold (NYSE: B) that has increased by 20% in the same timeframe. Newmont Corporation's stock has seen a recent increase due to a variety of factors. Gold prices have surged nearly 30% year-to-date, recently exceeding $3,500 per ounce. This surge is driven by global economic uncertainties, such as a U.S. trade conflict with China and political tensions surrounding Federal Reserve policy. Although Newmont has experienced significant revenue growth since 2021, its price-to-sales (PS) multiple has declined, dropping from 3.6x in 2021 to 2.2x in 2024. While the current PS is now 3.2x, there is potential for upside when comparing the current PS to historic levels: 3.6x at the close of 2020 and 2021. In Q1 2025, Newmont reported impressive financial results, driven by record-setting gold prices and effective portfolio optimization. The company announced adjusted EPS of $1.25, significantly exceeding analyst expectations, and revenue of $5.01 billion, which was supported by an average realized gold price of $2,944 per ounce. While gold production declined by 8% year-over-year to 1.5 million ounces, primarily due to divestitures of non-core assets, the company still achieved strong profitability, reporting $2.6 billion in adjusted EBITDA and $1.2 billion in free cash flow. Newmont successfully executed key divestitures—such as the Éléonore and Akyem mines—raising over $2.5 billion in proceeds and reducing its long-term debt by $1 billion. Additionally, it returned $1 billion to shareholders through dividends and buybacks. This strong performance reaffirmed confidence in Newmont's guidance for 2025 and supported the stock's recent upward trend. We currently estimate Newmont's valuation to be approximately $60 per share, about 8% above the current market price.
