Disney Hits Pause on "Tangled" Live-Action Movie
Disney has paused development the live-action version of the 2010 animated hit 'Tangled', according to sources.
The story based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of Rapunzel was in active development with Michael Gracey, director of 'The Greatest Showman,' slated to direct. 'Thor: Love and Thunder' scribe Jennifer Kaytin Robinson was on board to write the script.
The decision comes amid Disney's release of 'Snow White,' which has grossed a tepid $69 million to date domestically and $145 million worldwide.
It's not clear whether there is a possiblity of reviving the live-action version of 'Tangled' at some point in the future.
Disney will continue to mine its animated library with two upcoming titles, 'Lilo and Stitch,' due May 23, and 'Moana,' opening July 10, 2026.
'Moana' comes with the advantage of being fresh in the audience's mind, since the animated sequel 'Moana 2' proved to be a blockbuster last November.
Meanwhile the appetite for 'Lilo and Stich' appears to be strong. The 'Lilo and Stich' spot with Stitch crashing the Super Bowl field, racked up huge numbers, becoming Disney's most viewed spot digitally, while the March trailer release became the second-most viewed Disney live-action trailer of all time in the first 24 hours of release.
'Tangled' made nearly $600 million worldwide during its 2010-2011 release, and was nominated for an Oscar for original song. With an 89% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes, it was a hit with both families and critics.

4 Workers Die After Falling into Manhole in Japan
Israa Farhan Four workers in Japan lost their lives after falling into a manhole during a sewage inspection in the city of Gyoda, authorities confirmed on Sunday. The men, all in their fifties, were part of a seven-member crew conducting a nationwide sewage pipe survey on Saturday. One worker reportedly fell into the manhole for unknown reasons. As three others attempted a rescue, they too fell inside. Emergency responders retrieved all four individuals, but they were later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, according to local media reports. Preliminary investigations by the fire department revealed the presence of hydrogen sulfide, a highly toxic gas, near the site. Law enforcement also confirmed the gas was detected and suspect that inhalation may have played a role in the fatalities. The city of Gyoda has yet to confirm the cause of the incident. A municipal official, speaking anonymously, said it was too early to determine responsibility, noting that the full circumstances remain under investigation. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Korean Cultural Center Launches Traditional Korean Folk Painting Workshop
Nada Mustafa The Korean Cultural Center in Egypt inaugurated its Traditional Korean Folk Painting Workshop (Minhwa) today at its premises in Dokki. Running from August 3 to 5, the workshop offers participants a unique opportunity to explore the vibrant and symbolic world of minhwa, an integral part of Korea's artistic heritage. Organized by the Korean Cultural Center and curated by the King Sejong Institute Foundation, the workshop is part of the Sejong Culture Academy — a flagship cultural initiative that dispatches Korean culture experts worldwide to deliver immersive programs and foster global appreciation of Korean traditions. Led by distinguished Korean artists, the workshop provides hands-on training in traditional painting techniques, materials, and motifs. Participants will also gain deeper insight into the historical, cultural, and philosophical dimensions of minhwa, making the experience both creatively enriching and educational. The program is designed for students of the Sejong Institute at the Korean Cultural Center in Egypt, as well as local enthusiasts of Korean culture and art. 'Through this workshop, we aim to share a living aspect of Korean heritage and inspire Egyptian artists to connect with it,' said Mr. Oh Sung-ho, Director of the Korean Cultural Center. 'We hope this initiative strengthens cultural ties and promotes artistic dialogue between Korea and Egypt.' Minhwa paintings are renowned for their expressive style and rich symbolism, often depicting themes such as prosperity, longevity, and harmony. Popular motifs include the 'Four Gracious Plants' — plum blossom, orchid, chrysanthemum, and bamboo — representing the seasons and virtues in Korean philosophy, as well as everyday scenes, landscapes, and folkloric subjects. Known for their vivid colors and intricate detail, minhwa paintings embody both tradition and personal expression, continuing to resonate with contemporary audiences. This workshop is part of the Center's broader mission to promote cultural exchange and deepen mutual understanding between the peoples of Korea and Egypt through the arts. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
