Man impersonated nurse to treat kids and disabled adults, Texas cops say

Miami Herald02-05-2025

A man used a family member's identity to fraudulently obtain a nursing license he used to treat kids and disabled adults, Texas police said.
Dazael Gloria, 33, is charged with three counts of practicing nursing with a fraudulent license, according to court documents filed on April 29. Texas police are looking to arrest him.
Gloria's attorney information was not listed.
The man used a relative's identity to get a vocational nursing license (LVN) in Houston and treat multiple patients in Texas in 2022 and 2023, according to the criminal complaint. Investigators said he was hired by two nursing agencies.
He previously had an LVN but surrendered it in 2020, according to the complaint.
Gloria was caring for a person who was nonverbal and wheelchair-bound for three months before he was caught abandoning the patient in October 2022, investigators said.
The man said he abandoned the patient because he was 'assaulted while taking out the trash' and feared returning to the patient's residence, his former employer told police.
In 2023, Gloria was hired to care for a 5-year-old child, still using the license obtained through a false identity, when he stole the patient's mother's credit cards and used them, according to the criminal complaint.
Gloria had previously been convicted of theft in 2021, according to court documents.
A warrant has been issued for Gloria's arrest.

San Diego mayor releases statement on smoky ICE raid in South Park

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria is speaking out against a federal immigration enforcement operation that took place Friday afternoon at two well-known eateries in the South Park neighborhood. Federal agents carried out the raid at Buona Forchetta and Enoteca Buona Forchetta, prompting swift backlash from local leaders and community members. In a statement issued Saturday, Mayor Gloria criticized the timing, nature and impact of the operation. Severe geomagnetic storm could spark auroras, disrupt communications next week 'Like many San Diegans, I was deeply upset by Friday night's immigration enforcement operation at Buona Forchetta and Enoteca Buona Forchetta in South Park,' Gloria said. 'Federal actions like these are billed as a public safety measure, but it had the complete opposite effect.' The mayor described the raid as damaging to public trust and counterproductive to community safety, emphasizing that it stoked fear rather than security. 'What we saw undermines trust and creates fear in our community,' he said. Gloria added that he personally raised his concerns with Homeland Security Investigations leadership on Saturday morning. He vowed to continue advocating for policies that prioritize 'respect, dignity, rights, and security' for all San Diegans. Loyal customers lined up at the restaurants on Saturday to show their support, many of them expressing outage regarding the incident. As it stands, officials with Immigration and Customs Enforcement say an investigation into the controversial operation is ongoing. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. JAY-Z's Attorney And 50 Cent Respond To Diddy Assault Lawsuit Naming LeBron James, Beyoncé As Witnesses

Diddy is now facing another lawsuit from an alleged victim who named JAY-Z, Beyoncé, and LeBron James as witnesses to their assault. Hov's legal team and 50 Cent shared their reactions to the accusations. A man named Joseph Manzaro accused the Bad Boy co-founder of sex trafficking and assault, which allegedly took place at a 2015 that they all attended, according to TMZ. Manzaro claims that he was drugged, humiliated in front of others, and forced into non-consensual sexual acts at King Combs's 17th birthday party held at a mansion owned by Gloria and Emilio Estefan. Manzaro claims that Gloria saw what he was going through and called for help but was silenced by Emilio. He also claims he saw LBJ walk by him in a bath towel and say, 'Y'all better do something about that!' Upon being ushered through a tunnel to Puff's nearby mansion, he came in contact with Hov and Bey. 'What's this all about? Why is this half-naked white man with a [expletive] mask standing here in front of me?' the Cowboy Carter artist allegedly asked. Manzaro claims one of Diddy's associates said, 'Diddy wants him to see what we do to snitches. This is part of his punishment.' 50 Cent shared a screenshot of the article in a now-deleted post and wrote, 'Got Damn how many of these boys Diddy was touching,' with eye emojis. JAY-Z's legal team, however, did not treat the lawsuit as a laughing matter. 'Mr. Carter wasn't in Florida at that time to witness this incident—he was engaged in easily findable public activities that prove he was not at this event,' Alex Spiro, his attorney, told TMZ. 'This is more nonsense that erodes the trust in our 'justice' system.' TMZ also reported that JAY-Z was in New York City doing a presentation about Tidal when the party allegedly took place, thus making him unable to have been in attendance and witness the alleged misconduct. Gloria and Emilio Estefan's team also provided information that could render these accusations null. 'Gloria and Emilio Estefan strongly deny the allegations made,' their representative said. 'The property in question was never a home where Gloria and Emilio resided, but it was rather a house they owned for family use. There were no parties thrown at that property between 2012 and 2019. We have all necessary documentation to support these facts and will provide it to the court.' Time will tell what comes of this particular lawsuit, but Diddy has no shortage of allegations as he heads into trial in May. The controversial mogul has been behind bars since September 2024, arrested on federal charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He has been denied bail on multiple instances, and more lawsuits have continued to roll in.
