KTMB apologises after power fault stalls Kampar-Slim River trains for over one hour
Operations resumed as normal this afternoon.
KTMB said the disruption began at 5.44pm Friday due to a power supply issue affecting the overhead lines, resulting in several train services being delayed from their original schedules.
'Train movements along the affected route had to proceed on a single track on a rotational basis to ensure safety and smooth operations.
'This caused delays of more than 60 minutes for eight ETS services and two KTM Komuter services,' KTMB said in a statement.
As an immediate measure, passengers were notified via SMS, and continuous updates were provided through KTMB's official social media platforms.
Additionally, KTMB staff distributed food and drinks to passengers who experienced delays of more than two hours at stations and onboard trains.
KTMB said its electrification team was promptly deployed to carry out repairs, with full restoration completed by 5pm yesterday.
The company also thanked passengers for their patience and cooperation and reaffirmed its commitment to improving service quality for the comfort and safety of all its passengers. — Bernama

In the first quarter of 2025, Penang recorded RM6.7 billion in approved investments, 90 per cent of which were foreign direct investments (FDI), accounting for 22 per cent of Malaysia's total. He said the state's economy is expected to remain robust, driven by high-tech industries such as electronics, semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI), supported by ongoing infrastructure upgrades by the state government. Among the key federal-led mega projects seen as future catalysts are the Penang Light Rail Transit (LRT) project and the Juru–Sungai Dua Elevated Expressway, which are expected to improve connectivity significantly, ease tourist access and strengthen investment support. On tourism, Tun Ramli highlighted that Penang's competitive edge lies not only in its scenic charm but in its heritage-based tourism, ranging from colonial architecture to deep-rooted customs and diverse culinary traditions reflecting the state's multiracial identity. 'Heritage here isn't just about buildings, it's a way of life. Like the Taj Mahal in India, which has drawn crowds for centuries, Penang's heritage continues to captivate people from all over. The interest keeps growing,' he said. The Penang International Airport recorded nearly 2 million passenger movements in the first quarter of 2025, a 69.55 per cent increase from the same period last year. International passenger numbers rose by over 80 per cent, while domestic passengers increased by more than 57 per cent. Tun Ramli also praised the state's racial harmony and the strong command of the Malay language among non-Malay communities, calling it a solid foundation for Penang's progress. LABUAN: The Borneo Flora Festival (BFF) 2025 surpassed all expectations by attracting 104,543 visitors, more than double its initial target of 50,000. The five-day event drew plant enthusiasts and tourists from across Malaysia, Brunei, Kalimantan, and even Timor Leste. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, said the overwhelming response underscores Labuan's rising profile as a hub for eco-tourism and cultural events. 'The response was beyond our expectations. This shows how the Borneo Flora Festival has grown into a regional event of international interest,' she said during the closing ceremony. The festival celebrated Borneo's rich biodiversity, featuring rare orchids, giant pitcher plants, and exotic rainforest blooms. KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- Saudi Arabia is recreating the historic Hijrah (migration) of Prophet Muhammad through the 'Ala Khutah' (In the Prophet's Steps) programme - a six-month immersive journey beginning this November that allows participants to retrace the sacred route from Mecca to Medina. Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority Turki Alalshikh said the initiative is part of the broader 'Hijrah Trail' project, launched earlier this year by the Governor of Madinah Region and Chairman of the Madinah Region Development Authority, Prince Salman bin Sultan.
