Report: Florida football special teams coach moving on to Houston
One of the special teams' coaches for Florida football is moving on to a new job.
According to a report by Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, Florida Gators Game Changer coordinator Chris Couch is accepting the special teams coordinator job at Houston.

The move reunites Couch with Houston coach Willie Fritz, whom he worked under at Tulane from 2016-20.
Couch endured some ups and downs in his first two years under head coach Billy Napier as lead special teams' analyst. Under Couch, Florida at times failed to line up correctly, resulting in either 10 players or too many players on the field in changeovers for punts and field goal attempts.
During the 2024 offseason, Florida added special teams' coordinator Joe Houston to work with Couch. Houston, a former special teams assistant with the New England Patriots (2020-23) and special teams coach at Iowa State (2016-18), added a new voice with experience. Due to a change in NCAA rules, both analysts were able to work on the field during 2024 fall camp, which resulted in smoother special teams' operation during the 2024 season.
Coach joins former UF co-defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong as the second coach to leave the Gators for Houston in the last seven months. Armstrong took over as Houston defensive coordinator last December.

Texas extends offer to elite in-state 2027 RB The Texas Longhorns and their staff had a busy weekend. They were evaluating some of the top prospects in the country, which included some of the top players in the Lone Star State. Enter four-star running back Lathan Whisenton of the 2027 class. Programs from all across Texas had extended offers to Whisenton before he hit Austin. Well, he can add the Longhorns to the list now as they have taken his total to 14 offers he announced via his social media. Whisenton is currently the No. 24 running back in the country and the No. 302 recruit overall per 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot, 195-pounder is also the No. 42 prospect out of Texas. The talent of Whisenton was seen right away as he was named the Texas District 12-6A Offensive Newcomer of the Year as a freshman after racking up 512 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. It was a breakout campaign for Whisenton as he racked up 1,286 yards and scored 18 rushing touchdowns as well as 81 receiving yards. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes Texas to het Whisenton back on campus to improve their standing in his recruitment. What Jared Curtis' commitment means to Georgia's 2026 class
When Jared Curtis originally committed to Georgia last March, Kirby Smart likely thought he had the cornerstone of his 2026 class and quarterback of the future. Instead, Curtis threw a wrench in those plans with his decommitment in October. Despite that decision, Smart and the Bulldogs never let up and remained a constant presence in Curtis' recruitment. He adds a massive boost to a Georgia class that is well off where the Bulldogs typically sit in the rankings since Smart returned home to Athens. Usually a top-three to five team in the rankings, Georgia's 2026 class ranked No. 26. None of their seven pledges at the time ranked as top-100 prospects.
