Delhi govt to take care of all facilities for Kanwar Yatra: CM
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday announced that the Delhi government will oversee arrangements for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra through its ministers, district development committee (DDC) chairpersons, and district magistrates (DMs).
She said all permissions related to kanwar camps and committees, as well as redressal of grievances, will be facilitated through a single-window system.
'Kanwar Yatra is a festival of faith, devotion, and discipline, and the government will take every possible step to make it smooth and efficient… It will extend full support to these committees in ensuring the provision of electricity, water, medicines, sanitation, and other necessary amenities,' said the CM.
Taking a dig at the previous AAP government, she said, 'Despite crores of rupees being spent earlier, Shiv bhakts faced numerous difficulties. This time, we will not let that happen… Necessary permissions will be granted through the single-window system. We will make the entire system transparent so that Kanwar committees can get full benefit from government support.'

Ludhiana bypoll: Cong's Ashu's campaign ends with roadshow; sans Punjab chief Warring, LoP Bajwa
The rift between Congress's candidate for Ludhiana West bypoll Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Punjab Congress president cum Ludhiana Lok Sabha MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring was once again visible Tuesday, as the campaigning for the bypoll drew to an end. Ashu concluded his campaign with a roadshow in the city, but Warring and leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha Partap Singh Bajwa were nowhere to be seen. The party's district president (urban) and former Ludhiana East MLA Sanjay Talwar was also absent from Ashu's concluding roadshow. However, those who led the show with Ashu included AICC Punjab affairs incharge Bhupendra Baghel, former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi, former minister Vijay Inder Singla, MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh among others. A press release issued by Ashu's team claimed that Warring was present at the roadshow. However, he was nowhere seen in the photos. Contacted, Warring said: 'I was not present at the roadshow today due to some personal work. I was in Ludhiana but did not attend the roadshow. I have no idea why my name has been written in the press release claiming I attended it.' However, sources close to Warring said that he was upset over not being invited to the roadshow and hence decided to maintain a distance. The source further said that a day ago on Monday, when Warring along with Baghel and Bajwa had addressed a press conference in the city, Ashu chose to skip it and did not attend, which upsetted Warring. 'Even the photos of Warring and other local leaders were missing from the roadshow's invitation which were sent yesterday,' said the source. So even as Warring was present in Ludhiana Tuesday, he skipped Ashu's roadshow. Later in a Facebook post, he uploaded his photos while meeting and having lunch with Baghel, Talwar and former MLAs Kuldip Vaid and Surinder Dawar– the local faces who were missing from Ashu's roadshow. Meanwhile, Ashu asked his workers and supporters to be alert and careful during these two crucial days. He said the ruling AAP will try its level best to use all unfair means to influence voters. 'Whenever any such thing comes to your notice, sound the team in the office and we will take care and will not allow any such thing to happen', he said. Ashu, who is also the party's co-working president, appealed to the people of Ludhiana West to participate in the festival of democracy wholeheartedly by coming out of their homes to cast their vote. 'The process will complete once you press the button on the EVM to elect your representative', he told them, while asserting that every vote will count at the end. 'The choice is between a commoner and a billionaire,' said Ashu, hitting at the AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora.

Delhi government plans to transform Najafgarh drain into 30 MW canal-top solar power corridor
By Tanya Chugh New Delhi [India], June 18 (ANI): In a significant push towards clean energy and water conservation, the Delhi government is set to transform the Najafgarh Drain into a 30 MW canal-top solar power corridor. According to sources, the project will be implemented in phases, the first phase of which will generate 5 MW of solar power over a 6 km stretch from the Dhansa Border to Ghummanhera. The project is estimated to save nearly 270 million litres of water annually. Solar panels will not only generate electricity but also reduce the rate of water evaporation. This initiative is a part of the Delhi government's broader plan to triple the city's solar power capacity by 2027. The project will be developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Similar proposals are being considered for other drains such as the Barapullah and the Agra Canal. The Najafgarh Drain is a major source of pollution in the Yamuna River, and efforts are underway to improve its condition. Desilting drains that fall into the river and projects for rejuvenation of the Yamuna are also underway in the national capital. Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, LG VK Saxena, and PWD Minister Parvesh Verma are directly monitoring them. As part of its clean river initiative, the Delhi government is also installing 32 real-time water monitoring stations. Ten will be located on the Yamuna River itself, while 22 others will be set up on major city drains to monitor and address pollution levels, said a senior official. Meanwhile, the Delhi Cabinet also approved solar power subsidies in the state. Rs 1,08,000 will now be provided for 3KW solar panel installations. Earlier, the Central Government gave a subsidy of Rs 78,000, to which the Delhi Government has now added 30,000. Also, for 1KW solar panels, a subsidy of Rs 10,000 will be provided. The Delhi Vidhan Sabha is also being solar-powered by the government, where the foundation stone for a 500 KW Solar power plant had already been laid. This makes the Delhi Vidhan Sabha the first in the country to be solar-powered. These initiatives higlights the Delhi government's commitment to sustainable urban development and its goal of making the capital a leader in renewable energy adoption. (ANI)
