OL Will Hernandez 'would love to stay' with Cardinals

USA Today05-02-2025

Starting right guard Will Hernandez is one of the Arizona Cardinals' 20 players scheduled to be unrestricted free agents in March when the new league year begins on March 12. He has played the last three seasons for the Cardinals but had his 2024 season end after only five games when he suffered a season-ending knee injury that later was revealed as a torn ACL.
While he was perhaps the Cardinals' best lineman over the last three years, he is coming off the injury and will be 30 years old when the 2025 season begins, so it is uncertain whether the team will want to re-sign him, especially when he isn't healthy yet.
He made it clear that he would like to return.
Speaking with PHNX's Bo Brack in New Orleans during Super Bowl week, Hernandez spoke about both his desire to come back but also his understanding that it isn't something he is focused on right now.
'Of course I would love to stay where I'm at, where I already built those relationships, where I already know what each person brings to the table,' he told Brack. 'I'm a very loyal kind of dog. Once I connect with someone, once I play in the trenches with these guys, I'm attached.
'I would definitely love to stay, but at the end of the day, it isn't up to me. I can't make these decisions, and if it happens where I can or I can't, we'll go off that and we'll see what the next step is. I haven't even thought about it.'
There is one thing on his mind currently.
'The only thing I think about is getting this knee back to 100%, which is exactly what is happening.'
The Cardinals have until March 10 to negotiate with Hernandez before he can begin talking to other teams.
We will see if the Cardinals plan on bringing him back again soon enough!

Josh Allen: MVP is an honor, but I didn't win a Super Bowl ring and that is the only goal

Bills quarterback Josh Allen was named the NFL's Most Valuable Player for the 2024 season, but he still hasn't achieved the one thing he really wants in his career. Allen says that until he has a Super Bowl ring, his résumé has a hole in it. 'You know, it is such a great honor, and I do appreciate being honored for my work,' Allen told Liam McKeone of 'But at the same time, I still didn't win a Super Bowl. Didn't win a ring, and that is the only goal. It's the only focus that I've ever had going into this league.' Allen said to the extent that the MVP matters to him, it's mostly because a quarterback isn't going to get the MVP award unless his team had a good regular season. 'The one positive, I will say, about winning an MVP means that your team is in a good position,' Allen said. 'You're making the playoffs, you're playing well and you're doing whatever you can to help your team win football games. But at the end of the day, you got to make the playoffs and then you got to win three, maybe four games. And that's what we need to do. And we're going to continue to work as hard as we can and myself included. What can we do to find a way over that hump? So that's the only goal going forward.' The Bills have had a lot of regular-season success with Allen and have made the playoffs six years in a row. But Allen has yet to lead the Bills to a Super Bowl, and that's the one accomplishment that he's focused on heading into 2025.

Patrick Mahomes' Mom Shares Major Life Update on Monday

Patrick Mahomes' Mom Shares Major Life Update on Monday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Fresh off a franchise-record 15-2 regular-season in 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs marched confidently through the AFC before overcoming the Buffalo Bills, 32-29, in the AFC Championship Game. Advertisement Their quest for an unprecedented "three-peat" fell just short with a 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, yet they remain one of the NFL's elite franchises. At the heart of this modern dynasty stands quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the face of the franchise since taking over in 2018. However, on Monday, it was his mother, Randi Mahomes, who stole headlines as she celebrated her brand-new Texas home. Posting on X, Randi Mahomes wrote, "My heart is so full. Yesterday, my friends and family came together to bless my new home. We laughed, we prayed, we shared memories I'll hold onto forever. Thank you to everyone who made the day so special. ♥️." A two-time NFL MVP and three-time Super Bowl MVP, Mahomes completed 5,097 passing yards and 50 touchdowns in his first year as a starter, joining Peyton Manning as the only quarterbacks to throw for 5,000+ yards and 50+ touchdowns in a season. Advertisement Since then, he has earned six Pro Bowl nods, three Super Bowl rings and a placement in conversations about the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Behind every superstar quarterback, however, is a support system, and for Patrick, that begins at home with his mother, Randi. Born Randi Martin in Troup, Texas, she was married to former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes, Sr. in the 1990s but divorced in 2006. Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes poses for a photo with his mother Randi and father Patrick Sr. during a press conference at Stram Medley-Imagn Images This gift was a joint surprise in late March from Patrick, his wife Brittany and his brother Jackson. The newly constructed home, valued at approximately $825,000, ensures his mother enjoys the fruits of her unwavering support.
