Aidan Hutchinson: Myles Garrett and I have talked about what could be
Browns defensive end Myles Garrett's trade request has sparked a lot of conversations around the league, including one between Garrett and another heralded pass rusher.
Lions star Aidan Hutchinson was a guest on The Squeeze podcast and he was asked about any offseason moves that he thinks the Lions should make. Hutchinson said that he and Garrett were both at the NFL Honors show ahead of the Super Bowl and had a chance to chat about forming a 'deadly' combination.
'We were just talking about what could be,' Hutchinson said. 'And, although it's probably unlikely, I would be thrilled to play next to him if it were to happen. Our whole D-Line would be just totally elevated. That would be a scary defensive line. And we get along, too. I've seen him these last few years at different things. He texted me after I got hurt, which, I don't know, it was just a cool thing. Like guys outside of your own team who reach out to you. So I think he's a good dude. If he does, great, but I don't know. We'll see. But that would be awesome.'
Garrett said his goal in leaving Cleveland is to land with a contender and the Lions certainly fit the bill on that front, but other teams do as well and the coming weeks should bring more clarity about who is going to make the biggest push for the disgruntled pass rusher.

San Francisco 49ers Coach Robert Saleh Praises Rookie Class 'Cool Group'
San Francisco 49ers Coach Robert Saleh Praises Rookie Class 'Cool Group' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After a four-year sentence in New York as head coach of the Jets, Robert Saleh returns to San Francisco as the defensive coordinator of the 49ers. Advertisement Saleh had moderate success from 2017-2018 as the defensive coordinator before 2019 brought defensive dominance to San Francisco and helped the team to a Super Bowl LIV appearance. Now he's back home and is intent on rebuilding the 49ers' defense into what it was before he left. A Super Bowl contender. And it starts with the new rookie class. Saleh spoke about the rookie class during mandatory minicamp this week, and is impressed with what he's seen thusfar, alebit in a very short sample size. "It's been good. I've always said half of what a rookie does in his first season is he's just playing. Doesn't know what the heck's going on. He is just using all his athleticism," Saleh noted. "But there's been a couple of guys, not to name names, who have stood out from an assignment standpoint. They're always going to make mistakes. You just don't want to see them make the same mistake twice. So from that regard, it's been impressive to watch some of those guys. Advertisement "They've been, I'm thinking of one on top of my head, I'm just not going to name his name, he will make the adjustment before we ever get to them. So it's a pretty cool group." In Saleh's last season as the coordinator in San Francisco, his defense ranked No. 2 in yards allowed and No. 8 in points allowed, and the unit took a hit when he left. The 49ers were No. 8 in yards allowed and ranked No. 27 in the league in points allowed. Saleh hopes to help the 49ers recover from a disappointing 6-11 campaign last season that saw the team watch the postseason from home. Eagles Star Makes Massive Statement Before 13th Season
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. As the Philadelphia Eagles were working on putting the red bow on their Super Bowl-winning 2024 season, many wondered if two players could possibly follow in the footsteps of ex-Eagles lineman Jason Kelce and call it a career soon. Brandon Graham and Lane Johnson had a long and successful run with the Eagles. A Super Bowl victory would've allowed the seasoned vets to ride off into the sunset. Graham took the opportunity to do so, calling it a career after the Eagles hoisted the Vince Lombardi trophy. As for Johnson, he committed to another year and beyond. Not only did Johnson plan to continue playing through his contract, but he actually inked a one-year extension with the Eagles back in March. According to Johnson is signed through 2027 with the Eagles. Although Johnson's getting up there in age, being the longest-tenured Eagle on the roster currently, the Pro Bowl lineman made a bold statement, which suggested he doesn't believe he is on the other side of his peak just yet. In fact, Johnson feels like he's just now approaching it. "I feel like I'm getting close to maybe my peak," Johnson told reporters this week, according to "As weird as it is to say, but that's truly how I feel. I feel like even though I'm 35, I feel better than I was when I started (or when I was) 29 or 30.I had the (ankle) surgeries, and so for me, the toughest year was '21, and you can go back and watch it, you can clearly see on film, I was very hindered with my left foot." Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson during a press conference in advance of Super Bowl LII against the New England Patriots at Mall of America. Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson during a press conference in advance of Super Bowl LII against the New England Patriots at Mall of America. Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sports Since the Eagles drafted Johnson fourth overall out of Oklahoma in 2013, he's been one of the top tackles in the game. Johnson quickly caught on and helped the Eagles maintain a strong offensive line over the years, but he ran into some hiccups early on. Injuries and suspensions made it seem as if Johnson wasn't able to reach his full potential as a star lineman. In his eyes, all of that was just delayed. At this stage in his career, Johnson is a six-time Pro Bowler, a three-time Second-Team All-Pro, a two-time First-Team All-Pro, and a two-time Super Bowl champion. At 35, Johnson is hoping to continue protecting the Eagles' franchise quarterback, Jalen Hurts, for years to come, as the Eagles remain ultra-competitive. The Eagles must feel good about the mentality of their seasoned veteran, who doesn't seem to be questioning where he's at, at this stage of his career.

Tennessee Titans' supporting cast ranked among NFL's worst
Tennessee Titans' supporting cast ranked among NFL's worst Tennessee Titans general manager Mike Bogonzi was tasked with rebuilding an organization that has struggled to remain relevant. Since moving to Tennessee from Houston, the Titans have made 10 postseason appearances, including a Super Bowl appearance in 1999 when they lost to the St. Louis Rams. Borgonzi is the next guy tabbed to take this franchise to the next level, but first, the rebuild. To that end, the Titans made many impactful moves during the offseason. They bolstered the offensive line during free agency and added other offensive weapons through the 2025 NFL draft. One of those weapons is Cam Ward, the rookie standout from Miami who is expected to start for the Titans in Week 1. But how did Borgonzi do with Ward's supporting cast? FOX Sports ranks the Titans' supporting cast near the bottom of the league at 29th overall. It feels like a big deal that Cam Ward is going to start his NFL career behind an offensive line that should give him a chance. Maybe the Titans overpaid for a couple pieces there, but it still looks like it's going to be a much better unit than what you'd expect from the team picking first in the draft. Calvin Ridley is still a solid enough receiver, and Tony Pollard still managed 1,000 yards on last year's terrible team. The options behind them aren't as exciting, but you've got to admit this isn't an awful starting point. It's interesting that with such a low ranking, there wasn't much negative to say about the Titans' offensive weapons. There are no big names outside of Calvin Ridley and Tony Pollard, but they are all very capable players. Rookies Chimere Dike, Elic Ayomanor, and Xavier Restrepo are already turning heads, and it wouldn't be surprising to see one or more of them take a starting spot before the season ends. Add to that the lack of talk about Tyjae Spears and what he brings to the table, that he held down the ground game while Tony Pollard battled injury in 2024. He has his own injury issues, but he's a multi-faceted player who can be used to disguise plays of all kinds. So, while FOX Sports ranks the Titans' supporting cast near the bottom of the league, it's mostly because it's an untested group in a new regime. How they perform this season will show us where things truly stand.
