Taylor Swift unveils 12th studio album 'The Life of a Showgirl' on Travis Kelce's podcast
The announcement was made during Swift's appearance on her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce's, podcast on Wednesday.
Unveiling a copy of the new record, the singer said: "This is my new album, The Life Of A Showgirl. It's something I was working on while I was in Europe on the Eras tour."
The album will include 12 tracks, with Sabrina Carpenter featuring on the title song and as the only collaboration.
Carpenter said in a post on Instagram: "The Life Of A Showgirl, October 3, I know someone who's freaking out and it's me."
Fans have theorised that Swift's 12th album would soon be on the way. The singer is known as a prolific songwriter who drops clues in unlikely places for her fans, known as 'easter eggs'.
On Monday, Taylor Nation, an official branch of the pop superstar's marketing team, posted a slideshow on social media platform TikTok, featuring 12 images with the caption 'Thinking about when she said 'See you next era…'' Swift is seen wearing orange in every image.
The album artwork, which features the singer submerged in water, continues the colour scheme of orange and mint green.
Swift recorded the album in Europe while she was on her sold-out "Eras tour", flying between dates to record.
On Kelce's podcast, the singer said, "I just love music. I would be playing shows three nights in a row, then I would have three days off.""I would fly to Sweden. Working on this, I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating."
On the podcast, Travis Kelce said the fact that Swift recorded the album while simultaneously travelling the world was "still blowing my mind".
Swift described the album as "a lot more upbeat" than her previous "The Tortured Poets Department", which she released during the Eras Tour in 2023.
"There aren't other ones coming," she clarified, likely referencing her announcement just two hours after The Tortured Poets Department was released, that it was in fact a double album.
The latest release is 12 tracks - that's it.
The albums theme? "Everything that was going on behind the curtain," she said.
"It feels kind of, energetically, how my life has felt."
The Life Of A Showgirl is Swift's first album since she announced she had bought back the rights to her first six albums, ending a long-running battle over the ownership of her music.
She also announced she had purchased the rights to all of her concert films, music videos, album art and photography, as well as unreleased songs, giving her control over her entire catalogue for the first time.
The saga began in 2019 when the singer announced plans to re-record all her songs following a dispute with retired talent manager Scooter Braun after he acquired the recordings of her first six studio albums when he bought her former label.
Though the masters changed hands again after a deal with Shamrock Capital, Swift continued with a bid to regain ownership of the music by creating new versions of the songs.
She has been re-recording most of her albums, re-releasing them as 'Taylor's Version'. She is yet to release her debut self-titled album or 2017's Reputation.
Speaking about acquiring her master recordings, Swift said: "My music has been sold a few times. The first time it was sold, it really ripped my heart out of my chest.""I started basically defiantly re-recording my music because I wanted to own it. And this was the only way I thought it was ever going to happen.""Re-recording my music, it was so exciting to get to have that opportunity. But I still thought about not owning my music every day."After the Eras tour, I had a meeting with my team and we decided this might be a good time to approach the current owners of it."Swift then became emotional as she described the phone call from her mother afterwards to tell her "you got your music".
Her 12th studio album comes after Swift's billion-dollar, record-breaking Eras Tour ended in December. She made history last summer when the tour became the highest-grossing of all time, and Swift became the first solo artist to perform at London's Wembley Stadium eight times on a single tour.Swift has had four UK number one singles and 13 UK number one albums. Some of her best-known songs include Love Story, Shake It Off and 22.

Princess Andre breaks silence on parents' feud after dad Peter's scathing statement
Princess Andre has spoken out after her dad Peter Andre unleashed a scathing statement towards ex-wife Katie Price Princess Andre has broken her silence following a blistering statement from her father, Peter Andre, directed at his ex-wife Katie Price. The public spat between the former couple has escalated as Princess launched her first solo television project. The 18-year-old has been giving viewers an insight into her life in new ITV documentary, The Princess Diaries. Despite her father Pete, 52, featuring prominently in the programme, Katie was left seething after producers decided to proceed without her input. Now, in the wake of her father's tirade, Princess has spoken out about the ongoing feud. Responding to a question about her parents on Snapchat, she addressed the tension between them, reports the Mirror. A fan queried on the platform: "Does it affect you even now when your mum and dad don't get on?' In a video response, Princess stated: "To be honest it doesn't affect me. At the end of the day, they broke up when I was two years old so I don't even have any memory of them being together." Overlaying the clip, she wrote: "I love my mum and dad and that's all that matters xxx." Yesterday, Peter took to Instagram with an explosive statement about former glamour model Katie, who he shares Princess and son Junior, 20, with. He said: "For sixteen years, I have stayed silent in the face of repeated lies from my ex-wife and her family, out of respect for my children and loved ones, but staying silent has been incredibly frustrating. That ends today. "The latest comments about my children's welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight. "For well-documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood. In 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order to enforce this arrangement." He continued: "I have never made this public before, out of respect for my children. In 2011 and 2015, publicly documented court cases, found my ex-wife had made false claims. "She was ordered to pay substantial damages and legal costs, and to apologise, to me and my management. The same falsehoods are being repeated today. "Unfortunately, there are many more lies and baseless accusations I have yet to address. Those will now be dealt with in the coming months." After his allegations, a representative for Katie hit back: "Kate is in a much better and clear headspace and is at peace with the situation, this was in the past and she doesn't feel the need to bring up tit for tat comments, but more importantly she's dealing with this the right way and it's now in her lawyers hands. Kate will no longer be gaslight and bullied as she once was..." Just hours before Peter's declaration, Katie appeared to suggest a ceasefire between the former couple during the most recent instalment of The Katie Price Show podcast. The ex-couple are reported to have had no contact since their split, following the breakdown of their marriage in 2009. Last week, Katie revealed she was "very very upset" after claiming she had been excluded from her daughter's recent career achievements and alleged she had begged to participate in the TV series but was refused. After facing a storm of criticism over her remarks, with accusations of jealousy and attention-seeking behaviour, the former Page 3 model spoke out again, insisting she wanted to support her teenage daughter. Katie had proposed a meeting with Peter and her former management The CAN Group, stating: "I feel like I've missed out on so much and it's so not fair to bring Princess as piggy in the middle so I think it's about time all of us adults just sit down and talk about what their beef is with me and just get over it.
