Gladiators to return with 2026 series and celebrity special
Hosted by father-son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh, the hit BBC game show will see its elite athletes, known as Gladiators, take on contenders to complete physical challenges.

Gladiators has been renewed for a new season and will return to screens in 2026 along with a celebrity special.
Hosted by father-son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh, the hit BBC game show will see its elite athletes, known as Gladiators, take on contenders to complete physical challenges.
The competition, which puts contestants' speed, power, endurance and agility to the test, will return to screens in 2026 and will also include a one-hour celebrity special where four stars will enter the Sheffield arena.
Audiences will see the return of familiar Gladiator faces including Apollo, Athena, Bionic, Comet, Cyclone and Diamond.
Dynamite, Electro, Fire, Fury and The Giant will also return for the new series alongside Hammer, Legend, Nitro, Phantom, Sabre, Steel and Viper.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, head of entertainment at the BBC, said: "Audiences have loved getting together to watch our mighty Gladiators take on contenders from all across the UK, with younger fans especially excited to cheer on their Saturday night superheroes.

"With this brand-new series and another celebrity special confirmed there will be even more epic battles, more high-octane action and of course even more foam fingers than ever before for everyone to look forward to."
Gladiators was revived last year on the BBC, with Army officer Finlay Anderson and personal trainer Marie-Louise Nicholson being crowned champions.
Gym owner Amanda Wah from Warrington and gymnastics coach Joe Fishburn from Scarborough took the crown this April as the 2025 Gladiators champions.
Made by Hungry Bear Media, the series will include 11 one-hour episodes along with a single one-hour Gladiators celebrity special.
Dan Baldwin, managing director at Hungry Bear Media, said: "We have been absolutely blown away by the reception Gladiators has received from families up and down the country.
"It has become a huge part of Saturday night viewing on the BBC.

"We are extremely excited to deliver another series, so expect even more spandex, hairspray, protein shakes and fake tan this summer in Sheffield."
The show was on ITV for eight years until 2000 before being axed, and came back on Sky for a short run from 2008 to 2009.
Gladiators is also on BBC iPlayer.

An Antiques Roadshow guest shared a 'one-off' photograph of footballer Vinnie Jones and Newcastle United star Paul Gascoigne. WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Antiques Roadshow. An Antiques Roadshow guest and former referee quipped he would have booked Vinnie Jones for "ungentlemanly conduct" after revealing a "one-off" football photograph. The BBC daytime programme visited Wollaton Hall where expert Raj Bisram encountered a guest eager to display a memorable image from the football world. The autographed black and white snap featured Wimbledon player Vinnie Jones grasping Newcastle United legend Paul Gascoigne's testicles during a 1988 fixture. "What an iconic photograph you've brought in," the Roadshow expert declared. The guest revealed: "I was the referee at that match. It was on my birthday, funnily enough. "And it was a first division match between Wimble don and Newcastle United." The guest then admitted: "I have to admit, I did not see that incident." Bisram observed: "I mean, if you had seen that incident, obviously, you would have booked Vinnie Jones? For what?". The visitor chuckled in reply: "Well I suppose it would be for ungentlemanly conduct." He added: "Monty Fresco of the Daily Mirror took that fantastic photograph. "When I retired from work, my colleagues, unbeknown to me, got Jones and Gascoigne to sign it for me." In the left-hand corner, Jones simply wrote to the guest "Be good", while Gascoigne jokingly penned: "Thanks to you, I have lost my family allowance." Wrapping up the appraisal, Bisram revealed: "I guess if you was to put this on the market today, I would be estimating it would be for between £1,000 and £3,000." The guest was left speechless, his jaw dropping at the staggering figures as he bit his lip in anticipation. Bisram added: "I mean, it could go anywhere because it's a one-off. This is one of the most famous photographs of football in history. Thanks for bringing it in."

Louis Theroux questioned polyamory and 'getting to try everything on the buffet' in a candid new interview about love, relationships and his broadcasting career. Speaking with Rylan on the finale of BBC Sounds How to Be in Love on Wednesday, the documentary maker, 55, gave a rare insight into his relationship. Louis, who has been married to his wife Nancy Strang since 2012, quipped that while he has 'no plans' to be polyamorous, getting to the 'end of your life' without having fully explored everything could leave people with regrets. After meeting throuples and visiting marriage agencies in Thailand thanks to his documentaries, he shared how his career has challenged his thoughts on love. Louis told Rylan: 'I've never been [polyamorous], and I've no plans to. What I would also say is that what about being monogamous? 'Like, if you marry, marriage has been around for thousands of years, probably 2,000 / 3,000 years ago, people lived to be about 45, 50 if they were lucky.' He continued: 'You would be married for maybe 20 or 30 years. Now we live to be 90, 100, 110. You could be married for 90 years. 'Can you imagine being with one partner for 90 years? Would that be a life well lived? 'I mean, it's a bit almost crass to define things in those terms but it does feel imprisoning in an odd way, and don't you want to get to the end of your life and feel that you absolutely tried everything on the buffet?' Louis recalled the moment he fell in love with his wife Nancy and also candidly admitted that their relationship 'wasn't always easy.' He added: 'As someone who's been with my wife Nancy for more than 20 years, you've got to survive when the ecstasy isn't present in every moment. 'So love is also a practice, it's a discipline. You should think of it as the daily commitment you make to someone that you care about. 'The moment I fell in love with my wife was when I saw her dancing for the first time. It was like a second or third date, might have been fourth, and I realised that she had these moves. 'She's a dancer like not by training but just by natural she has a natural talent anyone who's seen her dance would tell you that.' Louis said: 'Can you imagine being with one partner for 90 years? Would that be a life well lived? 'It's a bit almost crass to define things in those terms but it does feel imprisoning' Louis revealed that at times in their relationship he 'wasn't always the man he needed to be' which caused problems. He explained: 'It took that kind of crisis of uncertainty to bring it to focus which led to us getting married. 'There was a time in our relationship when I thought I was in danger of losing her. And sometimes it's a terrible cliche, but the feeling of not knowing what you've got till it's gone. 'And that feeling of, it kind of brought everything into focus for me, but that moment, so the answer to the question is the moment of being in danger of losing Nancy was when I most keenly felt how committed I was to her.' The documentarian tied the knot with Nancy back in 2012, and they share three sons Albert, Frederick, and Walter.
