PDRM to fully cooperate with MACC's C4i false claims probe
KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is ready to fully cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in its investigation into two of its officers linked to false claims relating to the Command & Control, Communication & Computer Integration (C4i) system.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the two officers, with the rank of Superintendent and Inspector, have been remanded for seven days beginning yesterday.
The Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department has also initiated financial audits into the C4i contract last year and found improper payments to a company before reporting it to the MACC for further action, he added.
'Whatever corruption related offences we (PDRM) find in investigations, we will work with the MACC, including this case,' he said when contacted yesterday.
The MACC had remanded six individuals, in their 30s to 50s, including the two police officers, a company director and a chief finance officer over false claims totalling RM15 million.

IGP: No official travel restriction on Fahmi Reza despite immigration confusion; name only on monitoring list
KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — Police today denied issuing a travel ban against activist Mohd Fahmi Reza Mohd Zarin, better known as Fahmi Reza, following claims he was prevented from leaving the country. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said Fahmi's name had only been placed on a movement monitoring list as part of an ongoing investigation. 'There is no official travel restriction imposed on Fahmi Reza at this time,' he said in a statement. He explained that the monitoring list is used for internal reference and does not equate to an actual travel ban. 'There was confusion during an immigration check at an exit point on June 7, 2025, which resulted in an incorrect instruction being issued,' he added. Police are reviewing the incident and will take appropriate steps to improve existing procedures. Razarudin said the Royal Malaysia Police remain committed to upholding Malaysians' right to freedom of movement. He said Fahmi is free to travel in and out of the country as usual, subject to any relevant regulations set by the Immigration Department or applicable laws.

DAP backs judicial review on NFA over Teoh Beng Hock case
KUALA LUMPUR: DAP has voiced its support for the family of the late Teoh Beng Hock in seeking a judicial review against the Attorney General's decision to classify the case as 'no further action' (NFA). In a joint statement posted on the party's Facebook page on Sunday (June 8), DAP national chairman Gobind Singh Deo and secretary-general Anthony Loke said Attorney General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar must explain in detail why he believes there is insufficient evidence to prosecute anyone over Teoh's death. 'We have been informed that action is being considered to challenge the decision of the NFA in court by way of judicial review by the family of Teoh Beng Hock. 'We support this action and also call upon the Attorney General to review his decision and push ahead with charges against those responsible for Teoh Beng Hock's death without further delay,' it said. According to the statement, the Attorney General had classified the case as NFA on May 21, following the submission of investigation papers by the police, and later wrote to the family's lawyers on May 30 explaining the decision. The party also noted that the Court of Appeal had earlier found Teoh's death to be the result of 'an unlawful act or acts of persons unknown, inclusive of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers who were involved in the arrest and investigation of the deceased.' In a related civil suit, the government and MACC had admitted liability for negligence leading to Teoh's death, and a compensation of RM600,000 with costs of RM60,000 was awarded to the family. DAP stressed that while the responsibility to investigate lies with the police, it is the Attorney General alone who holds the constitutional discretion to prosecute. 'He must explain why he is unable to do so in this case particularly in light of the decisions of the Court of Appeal and civil proceedings in the High Court,' it added. Teoh, the political secretary to former Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah, was found dead at the age of 30 after giving a statement at the MACC office on the 14th floor of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam, Selangor on July 16, 2009.

MACC to question Tan Sri over RM143m asset seizure, sukuk misuse and gambling linked to Klang Valley highway project after hospital discharge
KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — A Tan Sri under investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for alleged misuse of sukuk funds involving a Klang Valley highway project is expected to be questioned soon. The individual, believed to be a highway concession holder, was recently discharged from a private hospital and is also being probed over foreign assets and high-stakes gambling activities involving millions of ringgit. According to a report by Astro Awani, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the Tan Sri has not yet given a statement due to his recent medical treatment. 'A statement has not yet been recorded from the Tan Sri, but I have been informed that doctors have recently allowed him to be discharged. My officers will be contacting him soon to arrange an appointment,' Azam said yesterday. He added that although the Tan Sri is considered a key individual in the case, MACC has already recorded statements from 45 other witnesses. 'He is indeed one of the individuals we have yet to question, but we already have testimonies from other witnesses. I cannot confirm whether additional witnesses will be required after his statement,' he said. Sources said MACC had obtained medical confirmation from the doctor on the Tan Sri's condition before arranging to question him. The investigation centres on the suspected misappropriation of sukuk bond funds that were meant for the construction of a highway. On June 3 last year, MACC disclosed that it had seized about RM143 million in assets from the individual as part of its probe. The seized items included 14 personal bank accounts with RM4.5 million, eight company accounts holding RM33 million, a luxury condominium and a parcel of land worth RM24.5 million, nine luxury vehicles valued at RM7.65 million, designer watches worth around RM25 million, handbags worth RM3 million, and jewellery and diamonds estimated at RM6 million. MACC also seized four horses valued at RM400,000, high-end alcoholic beverages worth RM3 million, foreign assets estimated at over RM15 million, and assets linked to gambling activities involving about RM20 million. Azam said asset declaration notices have been served to the Tan Sri and other related parties.
