Magnificent seven for North End United against Gorey Rangers in Under-19 League

North End United moved to the top of the Under-19 League table with an emphatic 7-1 win over Gorey Rangers in Hollygrove on Tuesday of last week.
Charlie Conway bagged a hat-trick for the Sky Blues, while Tadhg Berry, Logan Byrne, Jamie Breen and Darragh Shannon chipped in with one each. Luke Christie scored for Rangers.
Under-19 Division 1
Two midweek games were played in this division and both ended a 3-3 draws. Cormac Mythen grabbed a late equaliser for Bridge Rovers as they shared the spoils with Bunclody at Church Road on Wednesday evening.
The Castlebridge side looked to be in control when Gruia Nedelcu made it 2-0 in the 29th minute to add to Mark Palmer's opener.
However, Oisín Finn pulled one back before the break, Neall Brennan levelled matters in the 72nd minute, and Anthony O'Brien put Bunclody ahead nine minutes later.
There was one final twist though, as Mythen made it 3-3 in the 88th minute.
The previous night Seán Murphy was the saviour for Ferns United as they drew with Bree United in Macmine.
Murphy opened the scoring after just four minutes and he made it 2-0 eleven minutes into the second-half.
Dylan Martin-Roche halved the deficit and a quickfire double from Oscar Redmond had Bree in front by the 83rd minute.
Murphy was determined that his side wouldn't leave empty-handed and he completed his hat-trick in the 87th minute to rescue a point.
Ferns United came out on top 1-0 against Bunclody AFC in Clone on Saturday.
Again Seán Murphy was on target, scoring the decisive goal with just eight minutes on the clock.
Youths Cup
North End United and Camolin Celtic will meet in the final of the Youths Cup after coming out on top in their final four clashes in Crossabeg AFC on Saturday.
Youths Premier Division champions North End remained on course for the double with a 2-0 success against Forth Celtic.
Cian O'Dowd opened the scoring for the Sky Blues midway through the first-half and Troy Sinnott added their second ten minutes later.
Camolin proved too strong for Youths Division 2 winners Campile United, with the top-flight side running out 3-0 winners.
Noah James opened the scoring in the 29th minute, while Stephen Donohue-Kavanagh and Hughie Doyle added to their tally after the interval.
Youths Premier Division
Conor Donoghue got the all-important winner as Camolin Celtic edged out Shamrock Rovers at Peter Quinn Park on Thursday evening.
Donoghue scored the only goal of the game, with goalkeeper Adam Furlong providing the assist.
Youths Division 1
Rosslare Rangers continue to battle with Wexford Albion at the top of the Youths Division 1 table after two convincing victories.
Rangers had far too much firepower for Glynn Barntown on Tuesday of last week, winning 8-0 at Wexford Racecourse.
Oscar Fox and Jamie Culleton both contributed hat-tricks, while Darragh Rogan and Serhil Zhabitenko scored one each.
On Saturday they saw off Kilmore United 5-0 at Martley Park, with Max Williams, Luke Homan, Jamie Culleton, Jack Wickham and Conor Devereux all getting on the scoresheet.
Youths Division 4
St. Joseph's will meet Killenagh Wanderers in a play-off for the Youths Division 4 crown after a late Seán Stamp goal earned them a 2-1 over fellow title-hopefuls Enniscorthy Town in Grove Park on Saturday.
Both sides knew victory would see them face Wanderers for the league title, but it looked like it was going to be Killenagh's day as they were deadlocked at 1-1 with the contest in injury-time.
However, Stamp popped up with a 93rd-minute winner from the penalty spot, his second goal of the day, to keep Joey's in the title hunt. Eoin Crosbie had given Town the lead in the 55th minute, but Stamp cancelled that out just three minutes later and he won it at the death.

Kasey McAteer: 'I'd never turn my back on a club where I've grown, loved and supported'

Brian Barry-Murphy was foremost in Kasey McAteer's mind on who to contact when informed of his first Ireland start. Almost two years after Stephen Kenny first spoke about the Leicester City winger pledging his allegiance to Ireland, he finally made the team on Friday. Last September's debut against England was the first of four appearances as a substitute but this was next level. Heimir Hallgrimsson's news to the 23-year-old on the eve of facing Senegal had to be shared with a select few. Up first were his proud parents, regular attendees at club and country games, and Corkman Barry-Murphy was next on the list. He's coached McAteer since being handpicked by Foxes manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy to join him when taking over the strugglers at Christmas. The son of Leeside legend Jimmy has carved out his reputation as a stellar tutor, managing at Rochdale before having the privilege of leading Manchester City's development squad. Read More Stoke's Bosun Lawal called up to Ireland squad for Luxembourg friendly Avoiding the drop proved too much a task for Leicester but on a personal level McAteer finished the season strongly, starting six of the last eight games. 'Brian is a top guy,' he said about his mentor. 'I texted him last night to say I was starting. He said good luck and he'd be watching. It's great to have a fellow Irishman at the club.' It remains to be seen whether either will start the next Leicester chapter in the Championship. Foxes chiefs have yet to decide if they're sticking or twisting on the managerial front. Newly-promoted Sunderland were already admirers of McAteer before he crowned his first international start with his first goal but he's intent on staying loyal. 'I want to play for the club - I've been since I was eight years old,' he said about his affinity to City. 'The plan is to stay. I'd never turn my back on a club where I've grown, loved and supported. 'I want to go into pre-season for Leicester to start fighting for us to get back to the Premier League where we deserve to be. 'What I can say is I'm fully dedicated to Leicester and always will be while I'm there.' Even he seemed unsure about who'd he be reporting to when he returns from his summer break. 'Whatever happens with the management is up to the club to decide,' he said, rather diplomatically. 'All we can do as players is back the manager who is in charge. I've said before about the gaffer that he didn't give up on us even when we were relegated. We all tried every week. As manager, we'll fight for him so let's see what happens in the future.' Regardless of whether Van Nistelrooy and Barry-Murphy are retained, he's thankful for the benefits accrued from his first real string of top-flight games. 'There's a lot of senior players at Leicester and I respect that,' he outlined about the difficulty of snaffling a spot. 'Being home-grown, sometimes it easy to overlook players like myself but I never stopped fighting. I've kept banging down the door to get in the team. 'I got in the team, got my first Premier League goal (against Ipswich Town) and a few good results. It wasn't enough because we were already relegated but I can personally look back with a lot of pride.' Next year marks a decade since Leicester shocked the world by usurping the established order to win the Premier League but the atmosphere has changed with fans turning on the Thai owners. He said about the latter stages of the season: 'It's not nice playing in a stadium when there's a lot of animosity and boos. Leicester fans paid their hard-earned money, watching us weekly home and away, but for myself it's about taking it and learning. 'I didn't play every game in the Premier League so I don't take it as personal.' McAteer augmented that flourish with a splash on the international circuit. Timing is everything and producing the man-of-the-match performance in the penultimate friendly ahead of the World Cup qualifiers heightens his profile. The Icelander does have Mikey Johnston and the injured Chiedozie Ogbene to return for the opening double-header at home to Hungary and Armenia away but they won't be around either for Tuesday's visit to Luxembourg. 'The manager said in the dressing room afterwards that I've created a bit of a stir,' he revealed about the impact of schooling the slick Senegalese for large spells. 'That's what I wanted coming in. You want your name being thrown about in conversations around team selections – it was about creating a ruffle. 'Before the World Cup qualifiers, Luxembourg are up first and we won't take them lightly. 'There's quality players competing for the position but I know the qualities that I have too. I need to believe in myself and whatever will be, will be. 'Sometimes in this game, it can be everyone for themselves but I'm sure whatever happens the squad will be strong.'

More info Rap icon Snoop Dogg has unveiled his plans to launch a pop-up burger joint at Celtic Park - aiming to serve up top-notch bacon cheeseburgers to the Hoops faithful. The hip-hop heavyweight and long-time Celtic supporter is keen to personally dish out the grub at Parkhead, telling the Sunday Mail: "There has always been the opinion that food at sports stadiums is never good but that ain't got to be the case." Snoop, who's also known for his culinary skills, expressed his desire to shake up stadium food. He said: "People know that Snoop is a cook and I would love to bring a pop up burger to a sports stadium to show fans that food at stadiums can be good." And he's set his sights on Celtic Park, saying: "It's got to be Celtic Park man, I mean where else am I going to bring it." The 'Gin and Juice' rapper shared his recipe for success. He said: "The secret to a good burger is the love in the preparation. The ground beef has got to be mixed with some secret spices, then add a good quality cheese and some maple cured bacon." Snoop is confident the Celtic crowd will be impressed, saying: "The Celtic fans are gonna love it, and to make sure they are just right, Snoop is going to be serving them himself." At 53, Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jnr, has not only made waves in music but also in the food world, appearing on cooking shows with Martha Stewart and releasing his own cookbook, 'From Crook to Cook: Platinum Recipes from Tha Boss Dogg's Kitchen'. He's even considered teaming up with Rangers-supporting celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay for a restaurant venture, jokingly noting Ramsay's penchant for profanity, reports the Daily Record. He said: "I have told him I want to open a restaurant with him and maybe it might even be in Glasgow. "For real – we are always swapping cooking tips and I do mean swapping. It's not just one way traffic, I send him tips as well – he respects Snoop as chef. "My boy Gordon has got a worse mouth than me but that's only because of his passion. Am I going to bring my burgers to Rangers as well? Nah, I think we will give that a miss!". "I have told him I want to open a restaurant with him and maybe it might even be in Glasgow." Celtic Park is known for its innovative culinary offerings. In 2023, Smokey Trotters Kitchen, a popular street food eatery based in Glasgow's Barras Market, introduced Katsu Fries at the stadium - chips topped with salt and chilli chicken, cheese, curry sauce, crispy onions and coriander. Scheme Poutine - fries loaded with haggis, cheese, crispy onions and then peppercorn sauce - also became a favourite with fans.
