Pressured to lose weight, Sridevi fainted on set and lost a tooth. Eventually the movie was never finished
Director Pankaj Parashar has revealed that Sridevi's health took a severe hit during the shoot of Meri Biwi Ka Jawab Nahin after filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma allegedly pressured her to lose weight. Sridevi reportedly followed a crash diet, cut out salt, and fainted on set—causing facial injuries and the loss of a tooth. The incident disrupted the film's schedule, which was never completed. Her husband Boney Kapoor and actor Nagarjuna had also previously shared similar concerns about her extreme dieting and health struggles.
Sridevi Collapsed on Set After Extreme Diet, Says Chaalbaaz Director Behind the dazzling image of Sridevi's stardom was a harsh reality marked by relentless pressure to maintain a certain appearance. In a recent interview, filmmaker Pankaj Parashar opened up about an incident that severely impacted both the late actor's health and a film project they were working on. Parashar, who directed Sridevi in Chaalbaaz, blamed filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma for pressuring her to lose weight during their collaboration on the 1991 Telugu film Kshana Kshanam—a push that, he claims, led to a disturbing health episode.Speaking to Friday Talkies, Parashar shared that filming for his project Meri Biwi Ka Jawab Nahin, which starred Sridevi and Akshay Kumar, was progressing smoothly until Sridevi began an extreme diet regimen. He claimed that Varma kept urging her to slim down, prompting her to eliminate salt from her diet entirely. The result was a dramatic drop in her blood pressure. According to Parashar, Sridevi fainted on set, hit her head on a table, remained unconscious for around 20 minutes, and even lost a tooth. Due to facial injuries, she had to step away from the shoot, effectively derailing the film's schedule.
The production never recovered. Parashar said that after the incident, a series of unfortunate events followed—the financer exited the project, the producer passed away, and eventually, he had to abandon the film.Years later, actor Akshay Kumar also acknowledged the project's abrupt halt during an appearance on Koffee with Karan. He revealed that the film was never completed, and the 2004 release featured only the footage they had managed to shoot. The climax, where characters vowed revenge, was never filmed. Instead, viewers were met with a written message saying the revenge eventually took place. This wasn't an isolated instance. In a conversation with The New Indian, Sridevi's husband and film producer Boney Kapoor revealed that the late actress often subjected herself to starvation diets to maintain her appearance. He stated that she had experienced blackouts multiple times due to low blood pressure, and doctors had warned her repeatedly. Kapoor also shared that actor Nagarjuna once recalled Sridevi fainting in a bathroom while on another crash diet, leading to a similar injury—she broke a tooth after collapsing. These accounts from those close to Sridevi paint a troubling picture of the toll that constant physical scrutiny and professional pressure can take. Despite her grace on screen, the late actor's journey was marked by episodes of physical strain brought on by demands for perfection.

Hari Hara Veera Mallu Box Office Collection Day 6: Pawan Kalyan film remains steady after VFX change, earns THIS amount
Hari Hara Veera Mallu Box Office Collection Day 6: Actor Pawan Kalyan's film Hari Hara Veera Mallu - Part 1 Sword vs Spirit has registered a sharp fall in its earnings after its first weekend at the box office. On Tuesday, the film maintained its grip despite reduced occupancy in theatres. According to the industry tracker Sacnilk, Hari Hara Veera Mallu - Part 1 Sword vs Spirit earned ₹ 83 lakh so far. The live data is based on morning and afternoon shows. The final figure will be out after the night shows. The film's current earnings could potentially double if it maintains its momentum. The total earnings of Hari Hara Veera Mallu now stand at ₹ 78.18 crore. The film had an overall 14.30% occupancy on Tuesday among the Telugu audience. The occupancy was as follows: On day 5, the film's India Net Collection was ₹ 77.35 crore. On the same day, its Worldwide Collection was ₹ 105.25 crore while Worldwide Collection was ₹ 14.10 crore. Its India Gross Collection was ₹ 91.15 crore on day 5. The film is directed by Krish and Jyothi Krisna. It stars Pawan Kalyan alongside Nidhhi Agerwal and Bobby Deol in the lead. The film was initially criticised for its poor VFX and CGI shots. The film was silently re-released with tweaked CGI recently. Some portions of the film were also reduced, shortening its total running time. Talking about it, director Jyothi admitted to ABN that he knew beforehand some scenes weren't fully up to par before their release. 'Anyone will troll only those who are in the limelight. People only get views when they write about something famous. I do not take any of the negativity to heart. Every single day, I see something negative being written about Hari Hara Veera Mallu. This is not the first time a film has taken this long to produce,' he said. Commenting on the criticism around the film's VFX or CGI, he said that they weren't 'that bad'. 'When they nitpicked, all they could find was that the CGI and VFX were bad in some places. No one could point out the story and screenplay, or say it's boring, or that they can't understand it. There are 4400 shots in the film that required CGI. I knew in my heart that a few shots weren't up to par, but it wasn't something huge. We needed to hold special premieres for which tickets were sold out, and they turned that minor issue into something major," he also said.

Now, reports suggest that the film's OTT streaming rights have been acquired by Amazon Prime Video. The film is directed by Pandiraj, known for Etharkkum Thunindhavan. The Times Of India has quoted the latest reports mentioning that a major streaming platform has bought the rights of the film. It will release on Amazon Prime Video. However, neither the makers nor streaming platform has confirmed the news. The story blends themes of love, familial bonding and comedy, offering an emotionally rich and entertaining experience. Audiences have already begun responding positively, with social media flooded with praise for the film's feel-good narrative, relatable characters and warm performances. The film also features comedian Yogi Babu in a special role and the music by Santhosh Narayanan has been widely appreciated for adding emotional depth and charm to the storyline. Although the film was initially announced to have a Telugu version titled Sir Madam, its release status remains unclear. So far, there has been no official confirmation from the makers about whether the Telugu version will see a delayed theatrical release or skip theatres in favour of a direct OTT premiere. Industry insiders speculate that the team may have chosen to avoid a box-office clash with the big-budget Telugu film Hari Hara Veera Mallu. Vijay Sethupathi has an exciting lineup of films beyond Thalaivan Thalaivii. Up next is Gandhi Talks, an experimental silent comedy-drama written and directed by Kishor Pandurang Belekar. The film co-stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Arvind Swamy, Mahesh Manjrekar and others and has already made history as the first Indian silent film to be screened at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Nithya Menen will next be seen in Idly Kadai, a Tamil-language drama directed and co-produced by Dhanush under his home banner, Wunderbar Films, in association with Dawn Pictures. The film pairs Nithya with Dhanush in the lead and features a strong ensemble cast including Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Sathyaraj, Parthiban, P. Samuthirakani and Rajkiran.
