Major broadband outage in Hyderabad due to cable cuts by TGSPDCL: COAI
Hyderabad, Aug 19 (UNI) A major network outage is affecting a large number of home broadband users in the city today due to cable cuts by TGSPDCL, according to COAI (Cellular Operators Association of India). Thousands of Jio, Airtel, ACT customers got impacted in Hyderabad today. In a statement here, COAI Director General Lt Gen Dr S P Kochhar, said, "This disruption has been caused by the electricity department's indiscriminate and aggressive cutting of optical fiber cables." He said that internet cables do not carry electricity and are therefore unrelated to power infrastructure. The industry is actively working to resolve the issue and restore services as quickly as possible, he said. Dr Kochhar urged the department "to refrain from cutting optical cables, as they result in severe disruptions to internet connectivity, which is an essential service'.
