After narrowing down his potential destinations to 12 schools in January, four-star cornerback Dorian Barney cut his list in half.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound recruit from Carrollton (Ga.) High is down to six schools. Colorado joins Michigan, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, Penn State and North Carolina as the final continent of suiters.
Barney, a 2026 recruit, received his Colorado offer last spring and attended the Buffaloes' spring game last year. He is currently ranked No. 14 in the 247Sports Composite for Georgia and the No. 12 cornerback in the country.
Barney would appear to be a strong candidate to attend Colorado's spring game again now that his former high school teammate and current Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis is in the fold.
The two-time all-state selection and MaxPreps All-American is a long, lanky corner who could disrupt any ball within his vicinity. He is also known for his hard-hitting ability, which is rare for cornerbacks these days.
A commitment from Barner would be Colorado's first in its 2026 class, as the Buffs are currently the only team in the Big 12 without a commitment to next year's class. Deion Sanders is known for his "late game heroics" in recruiting, but this would be a significant pickup for Sanders and Colorado.

Tennessee offers 2027 four-star in-state running back prospect
Tennessee is already recruiting toward its 2027 football signing class. The Vols offered a scholarship to four-star running back Asa Barnes. "I'm blessed to receive an offer from the University of Tennessee," Barnes announced. Advertisement The 6-foot, 190-pound prospect is an in-state prospect from Westview High School in Martin, Tennessee. Some notable Westview alumni include former Tennessee offensive lineman Chad Clifton and Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson. 247Sports ranks Barnes as the No. 22 running back in 2027 and No. 9 player in Tennessee. He is a four-star in 247Sports Composite rankings. Florida State was the first program to offer Barnes a scholarship on Jan. 19. Additional programs to offer him a scholarship include Ohio State, Alabama, Ole Miss, Purdue and Maryland. Tennessee does not have any commitments in its 2027 football recruiting class. The Vols have eight commitments in their 2026 recruiting class: quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver Tyreek King, tight end Carson Sneed, offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda, wide receiver Tyran Evans, linebacker Braylon Outlaw, defensive lineman C.J. Edwards and defensive lineman Zach Groves. Follow Vols Wire on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).
