Lewis Capaldi Is Ready to Release New EP After ‘Crying Quite a Lot' in Therapy for Two Years

Yahoo6 days ago
Lewis Capaldi is feeling a little rusty as he eases into his first proper promotional cycle in two years. The musician appeared on Good Morning America to perform his comeback single 'Survive,' which follows an extended hiatus he began in 2023 to focus on his mental and physical health. Capaldi first premiered the record live at Glastonbury Festival.
'I haven't done this in two years, been on TV, so I'm a bit rusty, but it was good fun,' Capaldi said on GMA. 'It was nerve wracking. I did lots of nervous pees. We got it all out, and I feel elated. I'm really happy to be back and doing what I love to do and what they pay me to do.' Capaldi also performed his 2019 hit 'Someone You Loved' on the morning show.

The singer-songwriter joked that while 'Survive' has already reached the top of the singles chart in the U.K, it's 'doing nothing' in the U.S. If this song doesn't take, he has plans to release a few more in the coming months. 'I don't know about an album, but I'm doing an EP at some point this year, and then album maybe will follow next year,' Capaldi said. His next single will arrive 'later this summer, and then another song after that, and another song after that, until the day I die.'
'Survive' addressed Capaldi's mental health struggles in the wake of his battle with Tourette's syndrome. Following his 2023 Glastonbury performance, the singer announced that he would be taking a break from performing live 'for the foreseeable future,' explaining that he had difficulty performing due to tics.
During his break, Capaldi spent his time doing 'lots of therapy,' he said. 'It's been nice talking a little bit myself, crying quite a lot the last two years. It's been good fun, and I've just been really locking in and putting it all together.'

Charli XCX's Post-Wedding Style Is Less Bridal, More Glastonbury

Following her City Hall wedding last weekend, Charli XCX is already back to work. While the singer has a bigger bash scheduled, don't expect her to exhaust bridal whites. Just days after her wedding, Charli traded her Vivienne Westwood minidress for an outfit that could have just as well belonged at Glastonbury. And, in many ways, she took some cues from last month's headlining performance look. For her Day Four set, Charli hit the stage in three multicolored Alexander McQueen skull scarves, rejiggered to make a crop top, which she paired with black leather microshorts, a pair of maroon knee-high boots, and wraparound shades. Joseph Okpako Click News and Media / BACKGRIDUSA Earlier this week, Charli followed a similar outfit formula. She eschewed the scarf top for a black one-shoulder top and draped herself in an ecru pashmina, but stayed loyal to the microshorts in a gray-brown pair with similarly miniature pockets. She also hung onto her knee-high boots, donning a pair of black motos, and wore her large black shades. A noted fan of Anthony Vaccarello, she carried a quilted black Saint Laurent bag. While her style may be leaning more Glasto, Charli XCX still has time to make bridal style bratty before her trip down the aisle.

Hungary bans Irish rap group Kneecap from the country

The Hungarian government has banned Irish rap group Kneecap from the country for 'for antisemitism and glorifying terrorm,' on Thursday. Photo by Hugo Philpott/UPI | License Photo July 24 (UPI) -- The Hungarian government has banned Irish rap group Kneecap from the country "for anti-Semitism and glorifying terrorism," on Thursday. "This is what we call service by public notice. In plain English: if you won't read the letter, you'll see it on the poster," international spokesman Zoltan Kovacs posted on X. Kneecap members have accused Israel of committing war crimes in Gaza and supporting Iranian militant groups. Israel denied these claims. The group's lead singer Mo Chara has allegedly displayed a flag in support of Hezbollah and has been charged with a terror offense in the U.K. he has denied doing this. "This isn't just protest it's support for terror, celebration of extremist violence and a clear anti‑Semitic statement," Kovacs wrote on X. "Granting them a stage normalizes hate and terror, and puts democratic values on the line." The group was going to perform at the Sziget Festival in Budapest on Aug 11. "This is an unprecedented move which we believe is both unnecessary and regrettable," Sziget organizers said on social media.
