Blades of Glory spreads its wings, provides equipment for cricket museum inaugurated in Indore
On Monday, Union Minister for Communication and Development of North East Region Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated a cricket museum at the Holkar stadium in Indore that has been equipped with about 400 items of cricket memorabilia provided by Blades of Glory.
Former Captain of the Indian cricket team Dilip Vengsarkar, Abhilash Khandekar, president of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, and Rohan Pate, founder of Blades of Glory, were present for the occasion.
The inauguration of the musuem coincided with the birthday of veteran cricketer M S Dhoni. Pate gifted Scindia a special T-shirt of M S Dhoni, which he used in the series against Australia played in 2008.
'I founded Blades of Glory in Pune in 2012 to inspire the young generation. It is indeed a proud moment for us to open the branch of Blades of Glory in Indore in association with the MPCA,' said Pate.
'As per the MoU signed, our association with MPCA is for a period of five years. We will provide the cricketing stuff used by iconic cricketers for this museum. The collection on display will change every every six months,' said Pate.
'The museum has three important sections dedicated to MPCA, Indian cricket and global cricket. It has more than 500 items on display, of which about 400 items of cricket memorabilia are provided by Blades of Glory. Some prominent ones include bats having signatures of all One Day World Cup winning teams, bat used by Sir Don Bradman, cricketing stuff of renowned players from international cricket teams such as West Indies, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Australia and Bangladesh,' added Pate.
The special section dedicated to Indian cricket at this museum has a frame dedicated to one of the most memorable era of Indian cricket when the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Saurabh Ganguly, Anil Kumbale, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid played for India. It also displays the cricketing stuff of other great Indian players.
Blades of Glory in Pune is the largest private collector of cricket memorabilia. The museum was inaugurated by veteran cricketer and Bharat Ratna awardee Sachin Tendulkar.
