Egyptian, Beninese FMs discuss potential areas of cooperation

CAIRO – 9 March 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty received Saturday a phone call from his Beninese counterpart Olushegun Adjadi Bakari who expressed eagerness for visiting Egypt soon to expand bilateral cooperation.
On his side, Minister Abdelatty affirmed commitment to backing development in Benin, especially in the realms of trade, investment, security, constructions, infrastructure, electricity, renewable energy, digitalization, pharmaceuticals, mining, and agricultural processing. He added that many Egyptian firms looked forward to exploring investment opportunities in the country.
The Egyptian minister similarly offered delivering training to Beninese diplomats, and increasing Egyptian drug exports to the country.
The two ministers also conferred over regional and global affairs of mutual interest, agreeing to coordinate at international organizations to fulfill African interests, and to periodically hold bilateral meetings to push forward collaboration.

Al-Yahya extended his congratulations on the occasion of Africa Day, emphasizing that Kuwait takes pride in its distinguished collaboration with African countries, particularly through the projects of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. Since its establishment in 1961, the fund has supported key infrastructure and development initiatives across the African continent. In conjunction with the celebration, a cultural exhibition was held showcasing contemporary and traditional artworks by African artists. Jun 11, 2025 Egyptian startups have attracted $228 million in venture capital and debt financing from January to May 2025, according to a statement from the Ministerial Group for Entrepreneurship. The figures mark a 130% year-on-year increase in disclosed investment volume, reflecting continued growth in Egypt's startup ecosystem despite ongoing economic challenges. In total, 16 deals were recorded during the period, with 11 of them publicly disclosing investment amounts that collectively reached $156 million. In addition to equity investments, two notable debt financing deals were secured: proptech platform Nawy raised $23 million, while fintech firm MNT-Halan secured $49 million.
