As Rib Fest wraps up, one organizer reflects on rainy day difficulties
The Erie Wild Rib Cook-Off & Music Festival is done and over, but was it as successful as years past?
Performance and event manager Kathi Danielson said this was one of the toughest to date, and she has been doing this for 21 years.
Two weeks left to 'Glow Wild' at Erie Zoo centennial celebration
She said all four days were difficult with the cold and rain.
This year, there were more vendors than in previous years, but the weather did put a damper on some of the fun.
EMTA reminds riders of upcoming route changes
'It was quite an impact to the event, but I have to tell you that the vendors that come to this event are very well seasoned and they understand that I have no control over the weather and they will be back next year and they are so looking forward to it,' said Danielson.
The winner of the 1st place for best ribs was After Hours BBQ.

George Clooney: ‘Everybody worries' about being targeted by Trump
George Clooney, a vocal critic of President Trump, says fears of being targeted by the administration are widespread. 'Everybody worries about it,' Clooney told Anderson Cooper in a Wednesday interview on CNN. 'But if you spend your life worrying about things, then you won't do things,' the 'Good Night, and Good Luck' actor said. 'Like everybody, we have a family and we have a life and we try to live and do the things as the best example for our kids,' the Academy Award winner, who's married to human rights attorney Amal Clooney, told the 'Anderson Cooper 360' host. 'I want to be able to look at my kids in the eye and say where we stood and what we did at certain times in history. And I have no problem with that,' said Clooney, one of Hollywood's most prominent Democratic supporters. Last year, Clooney famously penned a New York Times op-ed calling for then-President Biden to abandon his 2024 reelection campaign, citing the commander in chief's age. Biden withdrew from the race weeks later and Clooney backed then-Vice President Kamala Harris's White House bid. In the interview with Cooper, Clooney expressed skepticism when asked if 'Trumpism lasts beyond this term.' 'I don't think so. I think it'd be very hard to do it,' Clooney, 64, replied. 'Remember this: Donald Trump is a celebrity. That's what he is. I mean, he has a star on Hollywood Boulevard,' he said of the former 'Celebrity Apprentice' host, who's responded to Clooney's criticism in the past by calling him a 'second rate movie star.' 'I don't have a star. I'm not lobbying for one, I'm just saying,' Clooney added with a grin. 'He's a celebrity, and he's the president [of the] United States, and so he has been elected. Duly elected — fair deal. I'm not complaining about that. That's how it works. That's how this democracy works,' Clooney continued. 'But he's also a celebrity, and he is charming. And to the people who like him, they think he's funny — to a great many others, they don't,' he said of Trump. 'So when [Trump] is finished — and he will be finished — they're going to have to go looking for someone who can deliver the message that he delivered with the same kind of charisma, and they don't have that.' Beach and Boating forecast: June 5, 2025
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — As the first week of June officially comes to a close, temperatures remain on the cooler side with wildfire smoke limiting sunshine this weekend. Temperatures remain near average for this time of year with highs in the low to mid-70s this weekend. Unlike last weekend, the winds will be quite calm. Both Friday and Saturday will have a north/northeast wind at 5 to 10 miles per hour. Sunday will be a touch breezy with a south wind at 10 to 15 miles per hour. Some yellow flags may fly then with wave heights at 1 to 3 feet. Due to the limited sunshine and near average temperatures, water temperatures have only warmed a few degrees this week. Most beaches are reporting temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s. The average temperature in Lake Michigan for early June typically sits near 50 degrees. While these water temperatures remain near average for this time of the year, any water temperature below 60 degrees can pose a safety threat. If more than a few minutes are spent in the water, cold water shock and hypothermia can set in. The good news? Water temperatures typically warm around 10 degrees throughout the month of June! The peak temperature sits in the low 70s for early to mid August. Lake Michigan Summer Beach Guide Sunday will start off quite pleasant at the lakeshore with sunshine and highs reaching near 70 degrees. By the evening, a cold front is set to sweep through bringing the chance for some showers and thunderstorms. At this time, no severe weather is expected. Lingering showers will continue Monday and Tuesday. Air quality took a dip Thursday morning, with most of West Michigan reporting in the uncomfortable to unhealthy range. Those who are sensitive should limit time outdoors. An air quality alerts remains in effect for Newaygo, Oceana, and Mecosta counties throughout Thursday. While cloud cover will limit the sunset this evening, the wildfire smoke can make the sunset look a bit more vibrant. As the light interacts with the smoke in the lower levels of the atmosphere, the sun tends to look bright red. The Lake Michigan Beach and Boating forecast is sponsored by West Michigan Toyota Dealers and the Ludington Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Severe storms expected Thursday
(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — Severe thunderstorms are often expected over eastern Colorado in early June. The image below from the Colorado Climate Center shows a smoothed version of severe weather days over a two-week running mean (thick black lines). Significant severe weather reports are also represented over a running two-week mean (thinner blue line). For tornadoes, the frequency ramps up through May and reaches a peak in early June, with a slow decline through the summer and into the fall. The graph for severe hail looks similar, but shifted a little later: the peak is in mid-June. Wind reports from severe thunderstorms are more frequent later in the summer, with a peak in early to mid-July. An average of all three types of severe weather reports puts the climatological peak of severe weather on June 10, so no big surprise we've got some in the forecast for the end of the week. For Thursday, storms will strengthen as they move or develop over the eastern plains. Severe storms are certainly possible along the Front Range, but are a little more likely from Trinidad to Cheyenne Wells and most likely in the southeast corner of the state. It is likely that a severe thunderstorm and/or tornado watch will be issued for parts of eastern Colorado later on today. A WATCH means that ingredients are present for the possible formation of severe thunderstorms, and you should pay attention. It's similar to Mom or Dad putting the ingredients for tacos out on the kitchen counter – get ready. A WARNING is like the tray of assembled tacos arriving at the table – it's time to take action! Know the difference and be ready later today. Download the FOX21 StormTeam app for Apple or Android to get a digital door knock from us in the weather center when storms are heading your way.
