Bong Joon-ho's sci-fi comedy Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson, to stream globally on Max from THIS date
Warner Bros. confirmed that Mickey 17, apart from being released on Max on May 23, will also premiere on HBO's linear channel the following day, Saturday, May 24, at 7:40 p.m. ET.
Starring Robert Pattinson, the film is based on Edward Ashton's 2022 novel Mickey7 and presents a dystopian twist on the concept of workplace loyalty.
Pattinson plays Mickey Barnes, an 'Expendable' — a disposable employee who is cloned each time he dies while carrying out dangerous missions for a human colony on a distant planet in the year 2054. The story blends biting humour with existential themes, exploring the human cost of survival and the absurdity of expendability.
Mickey 17 premiered to strong reviews at Leicester Square in London on February 13, 2025, before screening at the 75th Berlin Film Festival. It was released theatrically in South Korea on February 28 and in the United States on March 7.
The film has since grossed $131 million globally and received praise for its inventive storytelling, visual style, and Pattinson's performance.
The cast also features Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. Bong Joon Ho, best known for his landmark film Parasite, not only wrote and directed Mickey 17 but also co-produced it alongside Dooho Choi (Okja, Snowpiercer). Executive producers include Brad Pitt, Jesse Ehrman, Peter Dodd, and Marianne Jenkins.
Combining cerebral science fiction with pitch-black humour, Mickey 17 continues Bong's tradition of blending genre storytelling with sharp social commentary — and now audiences worldwide can stream it from the comfort of their homes.

Divya Dutta reacts to Shah Rukh Khan's National Award win; says her 2017 honour proved a double-edged sword: ‘There were instances where I…'
Although Shah Rukh Khan finally winning the National Film Award for Best Actor for the first time in his 33-year movie career brought much joy to many — particularly his near and dear ones, as well as his ardent fans — the news also left many disappointed. Among the controversies sparked by the announcement of the National Film Awards 2025 winners, one arose from Shah Rukh Khan winning the top honour for an out-and-out star vehicle like director Atlee Kumar's Jawan (2023). While many claimed that the win was undeserving, with some fans even pointing out that awarding him for Jawan was disrespectful since his far better performances in movies like Swades (2004) went unnoticed, those in support have largely dismissed such comments. They are currently celebrating what they believe is Bollywood's Baadshah finally getting due credit. A National Award-winner herself, Divya bagged the honour for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in director Aparnaa Singh's Irada (2017). When asked if winning the award had a lasting impact on her career and artistic process, or if it's simply a fond memory now, she was quick to state that it was much more than that. 'It's not just a fond memory. Firstly, it's such a huge honour. Secondly, of course, the public perception of you changes, and even among industry insiders, it does,' she pointed out. Divya further explained that filmmakers began to consider her status as a National Award-winning actor when approaching her for roles, which prevented her from being relegated to meaningless parts. 'They take you a tad bit more seriously (after such wins). I'm not saying that they weren't taking me seriously, but it's definitely a feather in the cap that you'll always be proud of.' When further discussing the implications of being a 'National Award-winning actor', Divya acknowledged that it can sometimes be a double-edged sword. 'There have been instances where I encountered talented new directors who wanted to approach me for roles, but ultimately decided against it (because I'm a National Award-winning actor). I was like, 'You didn't have to think, you just had to come.' If something is very simple and easy, we don't digest it actually. We feel only complicated and challenging things are real,' she added. Renowned for her performances in movies like Shaheed-e-Mohabbat Boota Singh, Welcome to Sajjanpur, Delhi-6, Heroine, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Badlapur, Divya Dutta recently made her Telugu debut in a key role in Mayasabha, the political drama streaming series created by Deva Katta.

The latest Superman film, directed by James Gunn and starring David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult, is set to land on digital streaming platforms on August 26, 2025 — just 45 days after its cinematic release on July 11. The superhero blockbuster, which has already earned $565 million at the global box office, will soon be available to rent or buy on major platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and others. After a strong start, Superman has begun to slow at the box office, falling to fourth place behind newer titles like 'Fantastic Four' and 'The Bad Guys 2'. The upcoming digital release is likely timed to catch viewers who missed it in cinemas. James Gunn took the helm as writer and director for this fresh take on 'Superman', marking the first entry in the newly launched DC Universe (DCU). Serving as a full reboot of the iconic superhero saga, the film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, with a supporting cast that includes Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced. The story sees Superman dealing with fallout after stepping into a global conflict secretly fuelled by tech mogul Lex Luthor (played by Hoult). As public trust begins to falter, Superman must rely on his biggest journalist ally (and lover) Lois Lane (played by Brosnahan) and fellow heroes to set things right. The film was produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran under the DC Studios banner. Fans eager to revisit or discover the new Superman story won't have to wait long, as the digital debut is just weeks away.
