Overnight shooting in Lancaster County leaves SC woman dead in car, sheriff says
A woman who had been shot to death was found in a car by her family, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.
Just before midnight on Friday, deputies were dispatched to the 3000 block of Riverside Road, where they found a 40-year-old woman dead behind the wheel of her 2021 Honda Accord, a news release said.
The woman had been shot as she was traveling alone from her home to Rock Hill, according to the release. The shooting is being investigated as a homicide.
When the woman, who has not yet been identified by the Lancaster County Coroner's Office, lost contact with her family, they began searching for her and eventually found her dead in her car, the release said.
An investigator with the Lancaster County Multijurisdictional Violent Crime Task Force responded to the scene and began speaking with witnesses as other investigators collected evidence, the release said.

'If anyone saw or heard anything or knows anything that might be related to this shooting, please contact us immediately,' he said. 'Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim's family and friends during this difficult time.'

Then on May 20, according to a news release from the Cowley County Sheriff's Office shared with PEOPLE, deputies were notified that a vehicle associated with the Silver Alert for McConnell was found abandoned on private property in a rural area near the 4000 block of 327th Road in Cowley County, Kan. Daily searches for McConnell were conducted since the discovery of the vehicle, but to no avail, authorities added. Then, on Wednesday, June 11, while searching the area of 333rd Road, authorities came across human remains about 1 mile from the location where McConnell's vehicle was earlier located, said the Cowley County Sheriff's Office. McConnell's personal belongings were also discovered. 'An autopsy is pending to confirm the identity of the remains,' the Cowley County Sheriff's Office said in its statement. 'We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those who contributed time, resources, and support in the effort to locate Jerry over the past three weeks. Our thoughts and prayers remain with her family during this difficult time,' the department added. Rick McConnell, identified by Fox affiliate WDAF, The Kansas City Star and the Johnson County Post as the victim's son, wrote in a Facebook message that authorities informed him that a body presumed to be that of his mother was found. 'Conditions indicate Jerry likely passed not long after she abandoned her vehicle in the remote location,' Rick wrote. 'The Family wishes to express our gratitude and appreciation for the tireless efforts of both the Cowley County Sheriff's Department and the Overland Park Police Department,' Rick further added. 'Unless you have personally experienced such an unfathomable situation, you cannot comprehend the enormous efforts such an operation entails.' Oakland PD asks for help solving fatal shooting cold case
(KRON) – The Oakland Police Department is asking for public assistance in solving the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Bert Brigham III. Brigham's death occurred almost four years ago on July 18, 2021, in the 1900 block of Foothill Boulevard. Traffic stop turns into drug arrest
Jun. 13—After a speeding stop turned into a drug search, a 38-year-old Kalispell woman is facing several drug charges in Lincoln County. According to police reports, on July 10, 2024, a Lincoln County Sheriff's deputy stopped a Black 2012 Honda Accord traveling south on U.S. 2, going 60 mph in a 50 mph zone. The driver of the vehicle provided the registration but not a license or insurance. The two women in the car were identified, one of them being Kystal Marie Fuller, who had a warrant out for her arrest. Fuller was arrested, and a K9 unit did a positive sweep of the car. The vehicle was seized, and deputies found suspected fentanyl, a scale, razor, fentanyl pills, a loaded syringe, a meth pipe and meth, drug paraphernalia, another man's wallet, Xanax, suboxone strips, oxycodone pills, Fuller's Venmo card, $367 in cash and two torches. Fuller told police that she found the wallet on the highway and intended to return it to the owner. In the initial appearance in court on May 6, Fuller was charged with criminal possession of drugs with intent to distribute (fentanyl) and criminal possession of a dangerous drug. She faces up to $55,000 in fines and a jail term of up to 45 years, with a minimum of two years. She posted the $50,000.
