The Lamborghini Aventador seen in the video is reported to be worth around Rs 10 crore in India, and the sports car catching fire is quite rare to see. Later, the incident was clarified by Sanjeev himself. He shared a video on his Instagram handle in which he explained the Lamborghini incident, stating that though the video is quite horrific, the car only suffered minor damage. Reports also suggest that there has been no fatality in the incident, and the sports car is now safely parked in Sanjeev's garage.

In the confession, Sanjeev stated that there had been no major damage, and it took place at the Kundalahalli signal while he was travelling with his family. He also said that a lot of people gathered around the car and started shooting the video, while an auto driver and a cab driver came and helped him. Giving a brief tour of his sports car, he also said, "But as you can see, it's not that bad. The fire was small, just some petrol or sulfur leak. The car is fine. Please don't spread wrong information just for publicity. I like this car very much. Many people have uploaded it on YouTube and Instagram just for their benefit."

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which manages the Sri Venkateswara temple in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati district, said that vehicles without a FASTag will no longer be allowed to enter Tirumala. Officials said the TTD is also considering allowing only electric vehicles entry into Tirumala in the future. Thousands of devotees visit Tirumala every day in private vehicles and taxis. 'Many individual car owners driving up to Tirumala may not have a FASTag for various reasons. We are issuing an advisory that they should get it before coming to Tirumala. If they do not have it, they should take the help of the facility at Alipiri,' an official said. The TTD said, 'In order to provide better safety standards, prevention of overcrowding and transparent services to the devotees arriving in various vehicles at the Alipiri check point, FASTag will be made mandatory for the vehicles entering Tirumala from August 15.' A facility that issues FASTags have been set up at the Alipiri checkpoint in collaboration with ICICI Bank, officials said. 'It is once again informed that the vehicles without FASTag will be allowed to enter Tirumala only after obtaining the FASTag facility here in the shortest possible time. Devotees are requested to cooperate, or they will not be allowed to enter Tirumala,' the TTD said. The announcement comes as the temple is witnessing over 90,000 devotees on some days, with the TTD finding it difficult not only to manage the pilgrims, but also the incoming traffic. The TTD is also preparing to implement stricter pollution control rules, and allow only battery-operated vehicles into Tirumala. The TTD is encouraging taxi operators to switch to EVs. On Tuesday, a devotee from Bengaluru, Chandra Shekhar, donated two battery buggies worth Rs 11 lakh to the TTD. The board, which has set up some EV charging stations, is in the process of setting up more, officials said. The TTD and the Andhra Pradesh State Transport Corporation are also switching to operating only electric buses to and from Tirumala and Tirupati. In efforts to achieve net zero emissions, the TTD is also allocating its lands at Tirumala and Tirupati to organisations like the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh for the establishment of EV charging stations and battery swapping stations.

Auto parts makers gear up for profit squeeze
CHENNAI: What do the new tariffs by the US mean for India's auto component exporters? The math is complicated but the pinch is very real. According to auto analysts and industry experts, 15-20% of India's US-bound auto-component exports could be lost in the short term. The US is India's biggest exporting destination with 27% of auto parts exported there. Which means, says Jitin Makkar, group head & senior VP (corporate ratings) at ICRA, "around 8% of the Indian auto-component production will be impacted by the increase in tariffs". According to ACMA auto component exports to the US stood at nearly $7 billion in 2024. Of this, $3.6 billion - which covers parts and components for cars and small trucks - will attract 25% duty. But the real squeal will be in the balance $3-billion worth of exports that are part of a reciprocal tariff of 50%. This would include commercial vehicle parts, construction equipment components, off highway, tractor and farm equipment parts. While large OEMs are already looking at alternative markets, it is the sector mainstay MSME exporters that will hurt most. Others like R K Industries in Pimpri Chinchwad exports computer numerical control machined components to global auto firms, with 20% going to the US. "Effects are expected to be felt from next month, with US customers likely seeking price reductions due to increased landing costs and clients may also explore alternative suppliers from countries with lower costs," said R K Industries's operations head Nilesh Khaire. While the effective duty can range anywhere from 25-28% to 45-50% depending on the different slabs, the pinch will differ on the basis of how sticky the product exported is. Ravindra Patki, managing partner at Vector Consulting Group said, "30-40% of India's auto component exports to the US comes from programmes in which India is one of multiple approved suppliers with a defined share of business." As for the larger exportable parts, Indian auto-component exporters will be at a disadvantage compared to other Asian countries like Japan, Vietnam and Indonesia which face a lower tariff of 15-19%. Component exporters however say a lot will depend upon their individual relationship with US-based buyers.
