Amitabh Bachchan Has THIS to Say About Son Abhishek's Housefull 5, Releasing Tomorrow
Last Updated:
Housefull 5, starring Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, and Riteish Deshmukh, releases tomorrow. Amitabh Bachchan wished for its success.
Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Dekhmukh-starrer Housefull 5 hits the screens tomorrow. Ahead of the same, Amitabh Bachchan took to X (formerly Twitter) and wished for the film's 'housefull" shows. The film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, and Nargis Fakhri as the female leads.
Abhishek Bachchan starred in the promo of Housefull 5, urging fans to throng the theatres and watch his film. His father, Amitabh Bachchan, reposted the clip on X and penned a heartfelt wish for the film's team. He wrote, 'May there be intense Housefulls capacity theatres all over the World .. love." Take a look:
Meanwhile, Housefull 5 is touted to be India's costliest comedy film, made on a whopping budget of Rs 225 crore. The amount is excluding poster-making charges and ads. However, looks like producer Sajid Nadiadwala will recover the costs at the earliest, going by the advance booking trends. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the comedy blockbuster has already amassed Rs 2.99 crore in advance ticket sales across India, with nearly 1,00,588 tickets sold for over 13,876 scheduled shows as of Wednesday evening (June 4). When block bookings are included, the film's advance business jumps to a solid Rs 7.16 crore, as per the Times of India (ToI).
Apart from this, Housefull 5 will offer a groundbreaking twist in cinematic storytelling by featuring two entirely different climaxes in different theatres. Speaking about it, Sajid Nadiadwala shared, 'With Housefull 5, we wanted to take a bold creative swing that hasn't been done before internationally for any thriller film. The idea of having multiple endings, multiple experiences has been with me for 30 years. Since, i wanted to make Housefull 5 a thriller comedy, there couldn't have been a better way to execute my idea of having multiple endings than this."
He added, 'It felt right to do something radical as we celebrate 75 years of Nadiadwala Grandson in the industry. Housefull is India's biggest comedy franchise and for the fifth instalment, we had to push the boundaries of what comedy can be. The idea of different endings came from a simple question: why should the audience always have just one version of the truth in a thriller? With Housefull 5, we've built a film that plays with form while staying completely rooted in entertainment. It's a killer comedy, literally, with twists that change depending on where you're watching it. and I'm proud we're doing it under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson as we mark 75 years in the business. Our legacy has always been about embracing scale, stars, and giving audiences newer experiences and Housefull 5 takes all it to another level."
He further mentioned, 'It's a natural extension of the theatrical experience: creating intrigue, rewatch value, and a sense of discovery. In a world of spoilers and algorithms, we're bringing back that element of surprise. And that's where the fun begins."
Housefull 5 releases on June 6 in theatres.

R-Truth back with WWE after public backlash; to continue under a new name
R Truth is back! Yes, you read that right. The 53-year-old shocked the world when he made his presence felt during the main event of WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Last week, R Truth took to social media to announce that he had been released by the WWE. Ever since his confirmation on X (formerly Twitter), fans went into overdrive criticising the company for letting go of a talent like Truth. 'We Want Truth' and 'Come Back Truth' trended worldwide on social media. During this week's episode of SmackDown, John Cena was constantly interrupted by the crowd as they broke out into the chants of 'We Want Truth'. It looks like the WWE finally heard the voices of its audience as R-Truth made a shocking return during the main event of the Money in the Bank. R-Truth, whose real name is Ron Killings, interrupted the tag team match between John Cena-Logan Paul and Cody Rhodes-Jey Uso. After the main event, Cody Rhodes addressed the return of R-Truth, saying, "You guys wanted R-Truth, and it's always our job, everybody here, Triple H, Nick Khan, to give you what you want, so thank you, guys, for letting us know. Thank you.' Truth appeared as a black-hoodie man, and he then attacked John Cena from behind. Once the Universal Champion was down, Truth lifted up his mask, revealing his face, much to the delight of the entire crowd in Los Angeles. The 53-year-old then hit Cena with the WWE Universal Title. Cody Rhodes capitalised as he hit the Champion with a CrossRhodes. In the end, Rhodes and Jey Uso picked up a victory. Michael Cole, who was on commentary, also discussed the fact that the WWE released Truth and how the fans weren't happy with the decision. According to PWInsider, R Truth had been discussing independent bookings and appearances with the WWE's top management for several days. However, the decision to bring him back was made within the last 72 hours. He will now be known in the company under the Ron Killings name, at least initially. The WWE has already listed his merchandise back on its official website. It was on June 1, 2025, that Truth announced that the WWE decided not to renew his contract. 'I'm sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride, Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you.'

Housefull 5 Box Office Day 2: Akshay Kumar Film Sees Strong Growth, Rakes In Rs 54 Crore
Last Updated: Housefull 5 collects Rs 54 crore in India in 2 days; Akshay Kumar film draws crowd with dual endings. The latest installment in the Housefull franchise is off to a strong start at the box office. Housefull 5, helmed by director Tarun Mansukhani, stars Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Soundarya Sharma in lead roles. After two days in theatres, the film has collected Rs 54 crore net in India. According to data from Sacnilk, the comedy entertainer earned Rs 24 crore net in India on its opening day. The worldwide collection on Day 1 stood at Rs 40 crore. Day 2, a Saturday, saw an upward trend with the film bringing in an estimated Rs 30 crore net domestically — taking the total to approximately Rs 54 crore so far. The movie maintained a nationwide occupancy of 33.18%, with figures climbing steadily through the day. Chennai, in particular, stood out with a 52% occupancy rate — a strong number for a Hindi-language comedy. With Sunday still ahead before the weekday slowdown, fans and analysts alike are watching to see how far Housefull 5 can go in its opening weekend. A major talking point around the film is its unique twist — it's been released with two alternate endings: Housefull 5 A and Housefull 5 B. Director Tarun Mansukhani shared the origin of this bold move: 'Sajid (Sajid Nadiadwala) sir had this idea about 30 years ago. And finally, he brought it to Housefull 5. And that was one of the most exciting things for me as a director to make a film with two different climaxes." This fresh concept appears to be resonating with moviegoers, adding curiosity and repeat viewings to the film's appeal. However, the film is getting mixed reviews from the critics. News18 Showsha gave it 2.5 stars. An excerpt from the review read, 'What makes the movie slump even lower is the music and the number of songs pushed into the scenes and the screenplay to make the film longer. Imagine dealing with an already stretched script, and then you have to tolerate even the unnecessary dance numbers. If this is the standard of comedy we get from the Housefull franchise, then Nadiadwala has to step up and raise the bar in the next instalment." India's highest-paid comedian, once sold eggs on street, then charged more than Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, used to scare heroes with his…, name was…
Names like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Prabhas, are highest-paid actors today, charging over Rs 150 crore per film precisely. These superstars headline mass entertainers, the genre that majorly dominates the box office. So, it would be difficult to imagine a time when the title of India's highest-paid actor was once held by a comedian. Well, today we will be discussing this talented artist whose impeccable films and hilarious performances etched his name in the Indian Industry forever. In 1960s, he wasn't just India's leading comedian, but also a bankable star in his own right. He was none other than Mehmood, son of Mumtaz Ali, who was a dancer and actor in Bombay Talkies. Mehmood's family faced severe financial challenges due to which his father fell into alcoholism and lost his career. Due to unfortunate circumstances, he became the sole earner of his family. To make ends meet, Mehmood did several odd jobs to survive. He worked as a driver, sold eggs on street, also became a horse-riding instructor and tennis coach. During this difficult phase, he managed to enter the film industry and stared working as a junior artiste. In 1950s, he made his name as comic character actor by appearing in supporting roles like CID and Pyasa. Following that, he led many successful films like Padosan, Bhoot Bungla, Johar Mehmood in Hong Kong, Bombay to Goa, and became the highest-paid actor in the country. Reportedly, Mehmood used to charge Rs 7.5 lakh for just two-week cameos in films at the time. Even superstars like Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Shammi Kapoor were not able to cross this mark until mid-70s. The ace comedian's presence intimated heroes to an extent that they would reject starring with him in the same film. In 1996, he released Dushman Duniya Ka , his final directorial. His final on-screen appearance was in Ghar Bazar , a box office flop. The actor passed away in 2004, leaving millions of his fans shattered and heartbroken.
