New Dries Van Noten designer blends the archive with a new voice in Paris
The fall Paris Fashion Week show marked a new chapter for the Belgian house following Van Noten's departure last year after three decades at the helm. Klausner, who had worked on the brand's womenswear since 2018, approached the collection with a balance of archival references and new interpretations.
Elements of 1930s tailoring were evident in sloping shoulders and vintage head caps, while draped gowns in floral devoré fabric brought a modern take to historical silhouettes. A metallic oversized suit adorned with silent foulard motifs reinforced an Art Deco influence, while an Obu belt with textured banding added an element of Eastern-inspired opulence. Throughout the collection, Klausner maintained the brand's signature layering and textural contrasts, integrating structured tailoring with softer, more fluid elements.
Yet, at times, the collection reflected the challenges of creative transition. A maximalist coat with an exaggerated silhouette skewed the proportions, making for a striking visual statement but one that risked overwhelming the model. Some pieces felt exploratory rather than fully resolved, suggesting Klausner is still refining his perspective, balancing reverence for the house's legacy with the need to establish his own creative direction. The tension between continuity and evolution was evident throughout, as he tested the boundaries of familiar Dries Van Noten signatures.
Still, Klausner's foundation within the brand is clear. Dries Van Noten was known for unexpected combinations and an evolving aesthetic that shifted from season to season, and Klausner has expressed his intent to continue in that spirit. His first ready-to-wear collection demonstrated a strong understanding of the house's codes, setting the stage for future refinement.
If this women's debut is any indication, Klausner is well-positioned to build upon its legacy.

It was his fourth success on the World Series of Darts circuit and was equally impressive given that he had not practised ahead of this 21,000-mile round trip. Every time he failed to hit a treble during the evening's three games, a group of locals shouted out 'rubbish, rubbish' and someone even bizarrely said he was 'washed'. This comment perplexed Littler but it is believed to mean he is supposed to be washed-up and not as good as he used to – which is clearly not the case. 'We can make the most of four to five days and then once it comes to Friday that is when the darts starts again. 'I'm feeling confident. This is the most confident I have felt in a very long time. 'For myself I know how much I will practise, how much I have been doing. 'But yeah I practised really well for the World Matchplay and won it. I think I will practise for the big ones. 'As a player, you are on stage for a long time. You practise leading up to it and when you are on stage, you gain that confidence. 'You get warmer and you find those four or five gears.'

Kai joked that he wants a 'whole football team', but wants to enjoy some married life just the two of them first. The couple tied the knot just 15 months after announcing their engagement and declared their vows in front of 60 special guests. They said 'I do' in a beautiful ceremony at High House near Chelmsford on Saturday, 2 August, surrounded by their nearest and dearest. While the newlyweds are keen to travel and enjoy life as a married couple, babies are certainly part of their future, as they have talked about growing their family and have agreed on a certain number, with Kai joking he wants more. It comes after photos show Holly Willoughby letting her hair down in white swimsuit on sun soaked holiday. In an exclusive chat, Kai jokes, 'I want a whole football team!', before adding: 'We have agreed two. I definitely need an Mbappé.' While they appear excited to start that chapter, Kai says they have other priorities at the moment and are in no rush for sleepless nights. He said: 'Right now, we want to travel, build and just enjoy each other.' Sanam added that they have had conversations about growing their family, and they have also spoken about doing 'ancestry tests'. She said: 'We've also spoken about doing ancestry tests to see how deep our DNA goes so we can bring our kids up to be aware of their cultural heritage.' They decided to incorporate cultural elements into their wedding day, which made it extra special. They chose Caribbean-infused music and rum punch welcome drinks. The wedding feast also included Trinidadian-inspired curry, as well as a classic British roast and a two-tier buttercream cake. Kai said: 'We wanted it to feel like us. No show, just soul.' While opening up on their fairytale wedding, the couple also reflected on their abnormal love story. Sanam said: 'We never even asked each other to be boyfriend and girlfriend. It just happened. We've been together ever since the villa.' The sweet couple met on the winter series of Love Island in 2023. They met during Casa Amor, where their spark was undeniable, and they went on to take home the Love Island crown. Their relationship quickly blossomed, and Kai popped the question in April 2024 as the two enjoyed a romantic gondola ride in Cambridge. When asked if they'd do any part of the wedding differently, Sanam sweetly said: 'Maybe relive it one more time. Just to feel it all again. Because it really was the best day of our lives.'
