Naseeruddin Shah "Stands Firmly With Diljit Dosanjh" Amid Sardaar Ji 3 Row: "Those Who Say Go To Pakistan..."
Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has backed Punjabi star-singer Diljit Dosanjh amid the ongoing controversy regarding his recently released movie Sardaar Ji 3.
What's Happening
Taking to his Facebook handle, the actor penned a note supporting Diljit Dosanjh. In the note, Naseeruddin Shah said the Punjabi star was not responsible for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the movie.
Shah shared, "I STAND FIRMLY WITH DILJIT."
"He was not responsible for the casting of the film, the director was. But no one knows who he is whereas Diljit is known the world over, and he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned," he added.
In the same post, the actor said he has a couple of close relatives and friends in Pakistan and no one can stop him from meeting them. "What these goons want is to put an end to personal interaction between the people of India and Pakistan. I have close relatives and some dear friends there and no one can stop me from meeting them or sending them love whenever i feel like it. And my response to those who will say 'Go to Pakistan' is 'GO TO KAILASA'," he concluded.
In A Nutshell
Diljit Dosanjh has been facing a lot of backlash for working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3 following the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan in the wake of the Pahalgam attack.
Previously, Diljit Dosanjh's Amar Singh Chamkila director Imtiaz Ali also came out in his support at the NDTV Creators' Manch.
"I don't know the details, but casting someone isn't the decision of the actor. I don't know how it went, but I know that uske andar desh prem bahut zyada hai (He loves his country too much). Jo log dekh paayenge unke andar ke sach ko, unko ye samajh mein aa jaayega (People who can see the truth, will understand)" he had said.

Geeta Basra Reveals Harbhajan Singh Asked Yuvraj Singh For Her Number: 'He Saw My Poster…'
Last Updated: Geeta Basra may have made her debut in films with Emraan Hashmi, but it was cricketer Harbhajan Singh who quickly became the biggest twist in her life. Geeta Basra was only 21 when she entered Bollywood with Aditya Datt's 2006 film Dil Diya Hai. She reunited with Emraan Hashmi the following year in The Train. Around the same time, she crossed paths with Harbhajan Singh, who had already set his heart on marrying her. 'He was very clear. He saw my poster, and it was probably love at first sight for him. He asked Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) for my number. Obviously, Yuvi has a lot of friends," Geeta recalled in a chat with BHARTI TV. Harbhajan reached out to her soon after, though Geeta didn't reply at first. 'They'd just won the World Cup. So a couple of days later, I'd messaged, 'Well done! Congratulations!' That's it. We got in touch again. When we met, he was very clear he didn't want friendship and said, 'Tere se hi shaadi karunga'. I said, 'Shaadi?' I was only 21." The actress admitted that she was still trying to build her career and worried that being linked with a cricketer could damage her chances. 'Fifteen years ago, it was a very different time for women. Even if you were spotted with someone, your career was over. I lost out on four films because of the news that I was getting married," she shared. Despite her hesitation, Geeta eventually said yes after ten months. 'I told him the day you'd score 300 wickets, I'd say yes. A couple of days later, he got 300 wickets. So I said let's give it a shot. Because all my friends told me he's a very good guy. He's a star, but doesn't have the attitude of a star. He's humble. He's also a Punjabi like me. That matters a lot." Geeta and Harbhajan tied the knot in 2015. The actress said the decision wasn't easy as she had doubts about cultural differences and loyalty. But Harbhajan proved her wrong. 'Sometimes, we just need to know, can I spend the rest of my life with this partner? Because we're from different countries so there's a cultural difference. Then he's so known so I was wondering if he's loyal. But he's beyond that. He's a very grounded person." The couple welcomed daughter Hinaya Heer Plaha in 2016 and son Jovan Veer Singh Plaha in 2021. Geeta has stayed away from films since 2016 while Harbhajan announced his retirement from cricket. Joking about family plans, she added, 'He's very fond of kids. So am I. But it's not possible today. We've to go through a lot with pregnancy, post pregnancy." First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
