Clemson football 2026 target, 4-star DL Bryce Perry-Wright announces stunning commitment
The Clemson Tigers and coach Dabo Swinney had long been considered the favorite to land elite four-star defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
But on Saturday, Perry-Wright announced he was committing elsewhere. The 6-foot-2, 250-pound lineman is headed to College Station to play for Texas A&M after a late push by the Aggies this week.
Perry-Wright announced his decision in a live stream on 247Sports' YouTube channel. The Texas Longhorns and Miami Hurricanes were the other finalists for Perry-Wright.
It's a disappointing loss for Clemson on the recruiting trail after a hot stretch in June when the Tigers added five commitments: four-star defensive lineman Keshawn Stancil (Clayton, North Carolina), four-star EDGE Dre Quinn (Buford, Georgia), three-star defensive lineman JR Hardrick (South Pittsburg, Tennessee), and four-star offensive linemen Leo Delaney and Carter Scruggs.
Perry-Wright is the nation's No. 2 defensive lineman in 247Sports' player ratings for the 2026 class and is ranked as the No. 32 overall recruit. Rivals ranks him the No. 5 lineman and the No. 33 overall recruit.
Perry-Wright had received a crystal ball prediction to sign with Clemson in late March, but Rivals recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction on Wednesday that the Peach State native would flip to Texas A&M.

Texas A&M football's 2026 prospects rank as one of nation's top recruiting classes
After landing another massive commitment from four-star EDGE Bryce Perry-Wright, Texas A&M's 2026 class ranks No. 3, according to On3 Sports/Rivals Team Recruiting Rankings. Head coach Mike Elko has been busy this summer on the recruiting trail, landing commitments from five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington and 19 total four-star prospects. The 2026 Aggie prospects also rank as the second-best class in the Southeastern Conference behind the Georgia Bulldogs. Perry-Wright's announcement on Saturday, July 5, helped boost the Aggies' recruiting rankings among most media outlets. June was an outstanding month, with numerous top-rated recruits, including Arrington, running back KJ Edwards, EDGE Tristen Givens, IOL Samuel Roseborough, and many more, committing to Texas A&M. The month of July looks to be more of the same, with many more talented prospects placing College Station as one of their top destinations. If Elko keeps this momentum going, Aggieland could soon become where the No. 1 recruiting class for 2026 resides. The last time that the program landed the top-ranked recruiting class was in 2022 under former head coach Jimbo Fisher. Elko's outstanding job at making genuine connections is a massive reason why the program is flourishing in recruiting. His style of play on the field brings excitement and opportunity for players to make their mark in the Maroon and White, but his ability to be personable with the student-athletes is just as important. One of the most integral factors in Edwards' decision to commit to Texas A&M was Elko and company presenting him with the ultimate hospitality, as they surprised one of the nation's top running backs with family members during his official visit in June. "So when we came down this weekend, it was originally supposed to be me, mom, dad, my sister, my younger brother and my auntie," Edwards said. "Once we got out there, coach Trooper and coach Elko surprised us with my grandparents. They had reached out to them, and we didn't know anything about it, so when we saw them, we were surprised." It doesn't get much better than that. The way that Elko recruits has earned him national recognition as one of the top recruiters in the country this offseason, as he continues to raise the bar for Texas A&M moving forward. June was an incredible month for the Aggies and July is shaping up to be even bigger. The Boston Celtics and Damian Lillard reportedly have mutual interest in teaming up
The Boston Celtics and Damian Lillard have mutual interest in teaming up, according to recent reporting making the rounds in the NBA media. The Celtics of course are on the lookout for ways to add cheap talent to their roster after paring down their cap hits by dealing away veterans Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis. Lillard, on the other side of a potential contract, was recently cut by the Milwaukee Bucks due to his long recovery to a torn Achilles tendon and massive contract with the Bucks. Now that he has another ball club paying that salary for him, Dame could be that cheap talent Boston is looking for, with Lillard able to take the coming 2025-26 season off to recover alongside star Boston forward Jayson Tatum, who is dealing with the same injury and general timeline. The folks behind the "NESN" YouTube channel put together a clip from their "Boston has Entered the Chat" pod taking a closer look at such a potential partnership. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say about Dame to the Celtics!

SEC recruiting rankings after Alabama landed multiple 5-star commitments
The Georgia Bulldogs have the SEC's best recruiting class following a dominant recruiting run in June. The Bulldogs' most recent commitment is from four-star tight end Brayden Fogle. No other SEC team has more commitments than Georgia's 27. However, the average Georgia commitment is not as highly ranked as the average Alabama Crimson Tide or LSU Tigers commit. LSU leads the SEC with an average commitment rating of 93.62. The Tigers notably have a commitment from the nation's No. 1 wide receiver recruit, Tristen Keys. LSU's recruiting class is still ranked behind Alabama, who has the SEC's most (and nation's most) commitments from five-star recruits after an impressive recruiting streak in late June and early July. The Crimson Tide recently added commitments from five-star defensive back Jireh Edwards and five-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan. Alabama and head coach Kalen DeBoer are positioned to have a chance to sign the nation's top recruiting class in the 2026 cycle. Contrarily, Alabama's in-state rival, the Auburn Tigers, is struggling on the recruiting trail. Head coach Hugh Freeze's uncertain future is a big factor in why the Tigers have the SEC's worst recruiting class. Auburn appears to be waiting to see how the 2025 season goes before committing significant resources to their class of 2026. The Tigers are currently ranked lower than teams like Idaho, Texas State and Tulsa. Auburn will finish the recruiting cycle ranked higher than all those non-Power Four teams, but the Tigers are not off to a good start.
