Dannii Minogue recalls moment Sharon Osbourne and Graham Norton 'piled on' and 'tore her to pieces' with cruel jokes about her looks and talent in organised 'set up' on TV

has recalled the moment she watched Sharon Osbourne and Graham Norton 'tear her to pieces' with cruel jokes about her looks and talent during a 2007 appearance on the Irish comedian's BBC chat show. The singer, 53, who was a judge on the X Factor with Sharon at the time, described it as a 'pile on' and blamed Graham and the show's production crew for 'setting it up'. Speaking on How to Fail with Elizabeth Day Danni said: 'I think the difference was it wasn't being rude. There had to be production meetings to set up the things that they were doing on set in this show and these huge personalities that I looked up to and just loved what they had done'. 'I'd loved Sharon Osbourne on X Factor. I'd love her on the Osborne's. I loved what Graham Norton was doing, and here were these people just tearing me to pieces. That show would never be made today'. During the show the host brought up Dannii and mocked her appearance saying she 'looked bizarre' before he and his guest viciously poked fun at her Australian accent and apparent lack of musical talent at length. The singer, who was a judge on the X Factor with Sharon at the time, described it as a 'pile on' and blamed Graham and the show's production crew for 'setting it up' Sharon said: 'She knows she's there for her looks, not her contributions to the music industry' before going on to claim that Dannii was only on the show because boss Simon Cowell 'wanted her'. When fellow guest and Buffy star David Boreanaz asked if he could see a photo of Dannii, the former Osbourne's star said 'look at this' and showed him her bottom. Danni said that she 'couldn't believe her eyes' when she watched the show in order to understand what all the fuss was about. MailOnline have contacted BBC, Sharon Osbourne and Graham Norton's reps for comment. Last year during her appearance on Celebrity Big Brother Sharon discussed her history with Dannii. The pair were judges on The X Factor together for only one season, but allegedly clashed over Dannii's relationship with Simon. Sharon quit the show the following year. David Potts asked Sharon whether it was 'awkward' working with Dannii on the show, and Louis Walsh added: 'Wouldn't we be standing there, Sharon, and nobody talking?'. Laughing, Sharon said: 'That was so f*****g tough,' and Louis admitted that there was a similarly bad atmosphere 'every season.' Sharon explained that during the live shows, as soon as the cameras started rolling, she would grab Dannii's hand and hold it in the air. 'I grabbed her hand and went like this, when the doors opened, and she's like trying to (let go) but I'd push her up,' she said. But Sharon appeared to have moved on from her feud with Dannii, saying: 'Yeah she's alright, she's alright.' Sharon and Dannii Minogue made no secret of their dislike for each other during their time together on X Factor as they embroiled in a public spat. Dannii revealed at the time that Sharon screamed abuse at her in her dressing room and reduced her to tears just minutes before she was due on stage. After Dannii joined the show, stories circulated in the press about how Sharon was utterly distraught that Dannii had been made a judge and feared it meant she herself was on the way out. Storming into Dannii's dressing room, she accused the Australian singer of speaking negatively about her to the press as she screamed: 'I don't need this! 'I'm a mother, for f***'s sake, do you think I need all this s*** in my life?'. Dannii revealed at the time that Sharon screamed abuse at her in her dressing room and reduced her to tears just minutes before she was due on stage In 2013, Sharon spoke out about the feud as she branded the time she spent with Dannii on the ITV1 talent show as 'unbearable', 'intolerable' and 'an odious chore'. In an extract of her new book Unbreakable, serialised in The Sun, she said: 'Outwardly, Dannii seemed all, "Ooh, I love kids and puppies". But in my opinion she was dark, very dark. What you saw was definitely not what you got.' After quitting The X Factor, Sharon told Piers Morgan on his Life Stories that she couldn't work with Dannii. She said: 'I didn't hate her because hatred is very close to love and takes a lot of emotion and I don't have that time for her. 'She was like an insect, a mosquito that wouldn't go away.'

Eurovision winner JJ leads calls for Israel to be banned from song contest

After triumphing in the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final over the weekend, JJ is now calling for Israel's removal from the competition. The 24-year-old became the latest Eurovision winner on Saturday night, representing Austria with his song Wasted Love as the music extravaganza concluded in Basel, Switzerland. Throughout the contest, protests raged through the streets against Israel's participation once again due to the country's bombardment of Gaza, where thousands of lives have been lost, and blockades against humanitarian supplies have been enforced. This year, Israel was represented by Yuval Raphael, 24, with New Day Will Rise. The entrant came close to lifting the trophy after climbing the leaderboard in the jury vote, but ultimately finished second. Speaking out after his win with 436 points against Israel's 357, JJ said he agrees with 2024 winner Nemo, of Switzerland, that elements of Eurovision need 'fixing', one of them being 'who participates in the festival'. During an interview with Spanish journal El País, he said: 'It is very disappointing to see that Israel is still participating in the contest. 'I would like next year's Eurovision to be held in Vienna and without Israel. But the ball is in the EBU's court. We, the artists, can only raise our voices on the matter.' JJ, whose real name is Johannes Pietsch, also spoke about Eurovision organisers' decision to prohibit acts from displaying Pride flags on stage at the contest. On it being a 'step backwards', he added: 'Although I was comforted to know that the audience could do it, I tried to sneak in a flag during the finals. But I got caught. 'I had it tucked away in a pocket of my pants, and someone from the organisation saw what I was carrying. Just before I went on stage, they told me, 'That's not your country's flag; you can't display it.' I almost made it.' But it appears the singer has no intention of being silenced now, saying of his plans post-win: 'I'm going to take the opportunity and use this platform as huge as Eurovision to advocate for rights for the whole queer community and to make sure we have more equality. 'There is still a huge stigma around us, and unfortunately, Europe is becoming more and more conservative, taking steps backwards. 'It's very, very disappointing and something needs to be done about it.' His remarks come after anti-Israel demonstrators were removed from the arena during the live final after attempting to climb onto the stage during Raphael's song. A spokesman for Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR said: 'At the end of the Israeli performance, a man and a woman tried to get over a barrier onto the stage. 'They were stopped. One of the two agitators threw paint, and a crew member was hit. The crew member is fine, and nobody was injured. 'The man and the woman were taken out of the venue and handed over to the police.' Viewers at home remained unaware of the near-stage invasion, as the moment was not captured by BBC cameras. The police checked the two people and then released them. It is now up to the organiser to decide whether to press charges.' Israeli representative Raphael was reportedly left 'shaken and upset' after the protesters rushed towards her. Meanwhile, hundreds of pro-Palestine protesters remained in the streets, having taken over a bridge over the Rhine River with flags, banners, flares, and fake blood, which they smeared over blankets to represent children. Public transport officials had to issue a warning to Eurovision attendees ahead of the final, urging them to avoid the street. More Trending But the protests didn't end there, as Spanish broadcaster RTVE faces a whopping fine after persisting with a pro-Palestine message ahead of the final, despite a previous warning against doing so. 'Peace and Justice for Palestine.' Spain, represented this year by Melody with ESA DIVA, did so despite Eurovision maintaining it is a 'non-political' event, with rules on their website stating: 'All participating broadcasters, including the host broadcaster, shall be responsible to ensure that all necessary measures are undertaken within their respective delegations and teams to safeguard the interests and the integrity of the ESC and to make sure that the ESC shall in no case be politicised and/or instrumentalised and/or otherwise brought into disrepute in any way.' Why can't Israel-haters accept that their Eurovision song was good?

Eurovision is an annual celebration of the gaudy and the garish – but I suppose someone should come to its defence amid the backlash. This year's contest has provoked a fit of fury not about the naff music, simpering performers, or style choices that make Lady Gaga seem demure, but about the fact that Yuval Raphael came first in the popular vote. I probably don't need to tell you which country she was representing. It was, inevitably, Israel, under whose flag she sang the pop number 'New Day Will Rise'. Twenty-four-year-old Raphael is a survivor of the Nova music festival massacre on 7 October 2023. After Palestinian terrorists shot up the shelter she and her friends had fled to, Raphael spent eight hours lying alongside their bodies pretending to be dead. In Saturday night's Eurovision final, Raphael came out top in the public vote, with viewers watching at home awarding her 297 points, but fared poorly in the jury vote, made up of music performers and industry insiders, where she picked up just 60 points.
