Amaravati to become world class city with dynamic CM: Rajeev Jain
Vijayawada: Rajeev Jain, former DG, (PIB) and former spokesman MoHUA & MoPNG, Govt of India, highlighted the stupendous progress being made in Amaravati, which is on course to become a World Class City. Interacting with media during his visit to Vijaywada on Monday, he said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been pro-actively engaging with the Central Ministries and Government of India to facilitate Amaravati being constructed as a world class capital city.
Talking about the urban transport schemes, Rajiv Jain informed that suitable steps have been taken for the proposed Vijayawada Metro Rail Project consisting of around 38 km Rail Network and also Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Projects.
Rajiv Jain informed that under PM-eBus Seva, around 750 (Fully airconditioned electric buses) have been allocated to Andhra Pradesh. These E-buses will contribute in ensuring a pollution free transport infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh.
Under Smart Cities Mission (SCM) – More than 84% of the projects worth of Rs 5,701 crore have been completed in the Smart cities of Amaravati, Kakinada, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam.
Under Prime Minister Street Vendor Atma Nirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) – Andhra Pradesh has performed extremely well with a disbursement of 103% and is ranked third among 18 long states wherein disbursement rate is 90.8% while the disbursement rate of Andhra Pradesh is 103.08%. The target for AP was 3.3 lakh beneficiaries, whereas the actual loan applications sanctioned under PMAY-U is already more than 3.50 lakh.
Under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation AMRUT & AMRUT 2.0, funds to the tune of Rs 589 crore have been released to AP and DPR has been approved for 367 projects exceeding more than Rs 6,200 crore, he added.

NEW DELHI: The government has approved shifting of Gurgaon's Kherki Daula toll plaza on the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway (NH-48) to Pachgaon, a place beyond Manesar, paving the way for easy commute for lakhs of office goers. TOI has learnt that Union road transport and highways minister has approved the plan, and to ensure the new spot doesn't see any congestion, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will go for Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) toll collection system. For the new facility, the Haryana government has provided nearly 28 acres of land to the highway authority, sources said. The process of shifting and starting the MMLF system to collect toll at Pachgaon may take around six months. 'Pachgaon is the ideal location as it falls beyond Gurgaon and Manesar. Since there is an interchange of the Western Peripheral Expressway and the NH-48 at Pachgaon, the new toll collection point couldn't have been beyond the intersection,' a source said. In the MMLF system, vehicles don't need to stop as overhead cameras installed for each lane will read the vehicle registration number and automatically deduct the charge from the FASTag wallet linked to the vehicle. Sources said a decision has also been taken to have an integrated system to ensure that traffic coming from the Dwarka Expressway side and heading towards Jaipur don't end up paying toll at this point once again as user fee. The shifting of the toll plaza will end conflicts between operators and people from areas adjoining Kherki Daula, and fulfil the promise the Haryana and central governments have been making for the past seven to eight years. Locals have been demanding that the NHAI shift the toll plaza citing that the govt has recovered more than the investment made in constructing the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway by private players and the highway authority. In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha in March, the road transport ministry said against Rs 2,489 crore incurred as cost for the NH-48's Delhi-Gurgaon stretch, the toll collection has been around Rs 2,775 crore, around 11% more than the investment. After completion of this 27-km Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, commuters were paying user fees at Sirhaul (Delhi-Gurgaon border) and Kherki Daula toll plazas. Tolling was stopped at the Delhi-Gurgaon border in 2014, bringing relief to commuters travelling between Dhaula Kuan in Delhi and Kherki Daula. However, those going beyond this point paid toll for the entire stretch. At present, NHAI collects toll through its agency. Meanwhile, sources said the decision to shift the Kherki Daula toll plaza by the road transport ministry will create more pressure on the Delhi government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to do away with physical entry fee collection booths on the capital's borders to prevent congestion. Traffic jams at these places defeat the purpose of huge investment in building highways and expressways for faster connectivity to Delhi.

BJP pushed Himachal into financial crisis during its tenure: Sukhu
Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu once again lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while blaming the saffron party's predecessor government for pushing the state in financial crisis. Sukhu was addressing a public meeting at Daulatpur Chowk in Una district on Saturday. Taking jibe at the BJP, Sukhu said, 'During five years of its regime, the BJP kept on boasting about the 'double engine sarkar', but could not significantly contribute to the development of the state and raised loans from the Centre, thus pushing the state in financial crisis'. He said that to make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant, the Congress government was determined to take some harsh decisions to improve the economy with co-operation of the people of the state. CM on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth Rs. 75.10 crore in Gagret in Una district. The Chief Minister announced additional funds for the remaining work on the Daulatpur-Bhadrakali road, for which ₹15 crore has already been spent. He also declared that the necessary funds will be released to complete the remaining construction work of the new building of Gagret Hospital. The Chief Minister informed the public that the survey work for the Hoshiarpur-Nadaun four-lane road project has been completed and the construction work will commence shortly. 'The present government has decided to merge such schools to ensure qualitative education and a better future for students,' said the chief minister. He added that Una district has become the first solar-powered district in the state. Solar power projects of 32 MW in Pekhubela, 5 MW in Bhanjal, and 10 MW in Aghlaur have been completed in record time. Additionally, projects with a combined capacity of 163 MW are under construction, involving an investment of ₹500 crore. 'In the future, Una will not only meet its electricity demands but also supply power to other districts. Moreover, an ultra-modern Bulk Drug Park is coming up in Haroli, which will create job opportunities and significantly strengthen Una's industrial presence,' added Sukhu. Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, in his address, said that ₹170 crore has been invested solely in water supply schemes in the Gagret Assembly Constituency. 'This will offer a permanent solution to drinking water and irrigation problems,' said Agnihotri.
