5-Star Brandon Arrington Commits to Texas A&M
5-Star Brandon Arrington Commits to Texas A&M originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Mike Elko and Texas A&M notched another huge recruit Thursday as 5-star athlete Brandon Arrington committed to play for the Aggies. Arrington ranks as the 26th overall recruit in the nation and the second in California, according to 247 Sports. Arrington had offers from over 40 schools, but had it narrowed down to Oregon and Texas A&M before his commitment day. Arrington announced his commitment on a live stream on 247 Sports' YouTube channel. Advertisement Arrington joins a 2026 class for the Aggies that ranked as the 5th in the country before his commitment. He became the first 5-star recruit to commit to Texas A&M in this recruiting cycle. The 6-foot-2 athlete starred on both sides of the ball at Mount Miguel in Spring Valley, California. Like Travis Hunter, Arrington lined up at WR and CB in high school. In 2024, he totaled 57 catches for 527 yards and five touchdowns on offense, while adding 26 tackles and an interception on defense. Arrington also shines as a sprinter, winning Gatorade California Boys Track & Field Player of the Year as a sophomore in high school after winning state titles in the 100-meter and 200-meter. According to Greg Biggins of 247 Sports, Arrington may be better at track than he is at football. Advertisement 'Dynamic two-sport athlete who doubles as one of the nation's top sprinters,' said Biggins. 'In fact, some have called him a potential Olympic hopeful in 2028 and he's already broken a pair of age group records set previously by Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles.' This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 19, 2025, where it first appeared.

PFF names Steelers' T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith NFL's best edge duo in 2025
Pro Football Focus has given the Steelers defense some well-deserved respect — more specifically, OLBs T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. PFF's Zoltán Buday recently named the best duos for every position ahead of the 2025 season — with Watt and Highsmith taking the edge defenders spot: "While Highsmith was hindered by injuries last season, he was still among the most effective pass rushers in the league when on the field. His 89.3 PFF pass-rushing grade ranked seventh among 109 edge defenders. On the other hand, Watt led the position with a 90.3 PFF run-defense grade and ranked sixth in PFF pass-rushing grade (90.1), one spot ahead of Highsmith." Highsmith has been working with Nick Herbig so far this offseason — as Watt's contract holdout caused him to miss Steelers OTAs and mandatory minicamp. Watt's presence is sorely missed, and whenever (if at all) a deal gets done, he will look to pick up right where he left off opposite Highsmith. Michigan State hockey lands 2007-born commitment from Mason West
Michigan State hockey lands 2007-born commitment from Mason West Michigan State hockey has just made another monstrous add to their roster via the recruiting ranks. The Spartans have added a winger to their prep ranks. Mason West, a native of Edina, Minnesota, has made his commitment to Michigan State. A 2007 born player, he is a 6-foot-6, 220 pound winger that is currently a highly rated draft prospect for the upcoming 2025 NHL Draft. He ranks 27th by NHL Central Scouting for North American players. After playing for Edina High School, West joined the Fargo Force of the USHL for 10 games, where he had a goal and 8 assists. A fun tidbit about the new hockey commit, he is a 3-star quarterback prospect that currently holds four offers to play quarterback at the next level. He ill be in East Lansing for hockey, though, where he is a bona fide pro prospect.
