Black Ops 6 players threaten to quit over new microtransaction ads
A new addition to the weapon loadout screen in Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 has caused outrage amongst players, as season four gets underway.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 added a bunch of multiplayer maps, modes, weapons, and gameplay tweaks last week, as part of its fourth season, but one particular change has sparked anger amongst players.
After the season four update rolled out on Thursday, May 29, Call Of Duty players have noticed an advertisement promoting premium weapons and skins in the weapon select menu which wasn't there before.
While the Call Of Duty launcher often carries these kinds of promotions, players are miffed they've crossed over into the gameplay itself – especially as Black Ops 6 players have already forked out £69.99 for the full game.
'One of the unwelcome changes I've noticed with season four is that they've now inserted a new ad spot at the top of the list of your weapon specific builds,' Reddit user whambampl writes.
'So now every time you toggle between weapon builds you get to stare at ads for $20-$30 skins. I'm sure the Activision developer who suggested this terrible feature is very proud of themselves.'
They added: 'This change is especially unneeded because you could already toggle from Builds to Shop on any given weapon and apparently not being thrown directly in our faces didn't make them enough money. Many of us paid $60-$100 for a feature game and don't want to be bombarded with additional ads.' Season 4 brings new ad spot in game for weapons

In a nod to SpongeBob SquarePants, one user replied: 'Actively witnessing Call Of Duty become the Krusty Krab.'
Other players have vowed to quit playing following this update. 'This ad mess is ridiculous,' one user wrote. 'They make huge bank already for them to even do this should be illegal. I've never been done with a COD this fast ever. But she's getting deleted.' More Trending
Another added: 'I'm so dumbfounded… this seriously makes me want to uninstall based on principle alone! You guys have to be smoking something.'
This issue has been the subject of several threads expressing a similar sentiment. 'I wouldn't even be mad if this was just in Warzone, a free game, but putting it in a pay-to-play premium title, with how expensive they're getting?' questioned one commenter.
Last month, a report highlighted how Call Of Duty was slowly losing players each year. As of March 2025, Call Of Duty had 20.6 million players, a decline from 20.8 million in March 2024 and 22.4 million in March 2023.
While these are still huge numbers, it's perhaps a sign that Call Of Duty's dominance could be at risk if a competitor makes a big enough splash. EA is hoping to do just that with the next Battlefield, which is set to launch sometime before March 2026.

Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling's ‘underrated' thriller now streaming
An underrated crime film from over 10 years ago starring two of Hollywood's biggest stars is currently streaming Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone's forgotten team-up from 2013 has just been added to Prime Video. The A-list Hollywood duo are best known for portraying love interests in the romantic-comedy Crazy Stupid Love and the Oscar-winning musical La La Land. However, they co-starred together in between these two hits in a wildly different film that's been all but forgotten. Helmed by Venom and Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer, Gangster Squad received middling reviews when it was first released and was not a huge hit amongst movie buffs. Gosling stars as Sergeant Jerry Wooters, a WWII veteran tasked with bringing down Los Angeles mob leader Mickey Cohen (played by Sean Penn), along with fellow cop Sergeant John O'Mara (Josh Brolin). Stone features in the film as Grace Faraday, an etiquette teacher close to Cohen who eventually falls for Jerry in this glossy send-up of hard-boiled noir thrillers. While Gangster Squad didn't capture audiences' imaginations as much as their other two collaborations, Gosling and Stone fans should definitely take this opportunity to give it another go now it's on Prime Video. Plenty of fans have reassessed the film as an underrated gem, with a Letterboxd reviewer saying: 'Definitely underrated as a movie and I definitely didn't expect it to get such bad reviews on several famous platforms... 'Although its script and plot were nothing out of the ordinary and original the film's vibes and noir genre were definitely what I loved about it!' Another wrote: 'This one smashed it out of the park for me. I had low expectations going in but came out very pleasantly surprised and to be honest, pretty damn impressed. 'Great cast, superb production design, fantastic shootouts and overall, really well made and hugely enjoyable. I loved it.' Get 30 days of Prime Video totally free £8.99 £0 Amazon Get Prime Video here Product Description And someone else asked: 'What did this movie ever do to you guys to receive all bad ratings?' The film received a similar appraisal from a recent Reddit post, as a moviegoer argued: 'Gangster Squad (2013) is actually pretty good. 'This one really surprised me... And just to clarify right off of the bat, I'm not saying I think it deserved any Oscars or anything, but it's way more fun than I was expecting the gangster-movie from the director of Zombieland, Venom, and Uncharted to be... (man, Ruben Fleischer has an odd filmography.)' There are also scores of five-star Google reviews for the film, including one calling it 'CRIMINALLY UNDERATED'. 'This is the modern day untouchables,' it continued. '1940s LA is such a beautiful setting. The writing for the characters is great. 'A true sense of brotherhood. Sean Penn portrays a terrifying Mickey Cohen. The action is top notch.' Don't let Gangster Squad fall off your radar if you've not yet checked out Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling's most misunderstood cinematic team-up.

New God Of War game is 'smaller scale' 2D Metroidvania claim insiders
The next God Of War game might revolve around Kratos' brother, as rumours escalate ahead of Sony's State Of Play. There have been rumours around a new God Of War game, set in Ancient Greece, since earlier this year, but new details have come to light ahead of Sony's State Of Play presentation on Wednesday night. Previous rumours described it as a 'side story' prequel starring young Kratos, although it's never been clear if the gameplay would be similar to God Of War Ragnarök or the original Greek trilogy which began on the PlayStation 2. According to several insiders, it seems this spin-off might be something completely different and more comparable to a game like Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown, in terms of scale and gameplay. The information comes from Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson, who previously claimed the new project would be set in Ancient Greece. Following the announcement of Sony's State Of Play, a user on X asked him if the rumoured God Of War project might appear. In response, Henderson wrote: 'Hearing a lot of scuttlebutt about the 2.5D/Metroidvania game or whatever it will be, yeah. Seems to be much smaller in scale than what I initially thought.' Fellow insider Jeff Grubb also appeared to corroborate these claims, by posting a 'Yeah' in agreement. Hearing a lot of scuttlebutt about the 2.5D/metroidvania game or whatever it will be, yeah. Seems to be much smaller in scale than what I initially thought. — Tom Henderson (@_Tom_Henderson_) June 3, 2025 As posted on Reddit, a number of other rumours have emerged around the title. According to Xbox Era's Nick Baker, Kratos' brother Deimos will be playable, although it's unclear if he'll be the main protagonist. The game is also rumoured to be developed by Mega Cat Studios (Five Nights At Freddy's: Into The Pit), under the supervision of Sony's Santa Monica Studio, who have developed all the mainline God Of War games. The project has also been compared to 2019's Blasphemous, although it's unclear if that's because of the Metroidvania element or the visual style. More Trending While it's unclear if this project will be announced during Sony's State Of Play later tonight, the acceleration of rumours certainly suggests it could be. This isn't the only rumour which has emerged following the State Of Play announcement. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier appeared to hint on Bluesky that a 'remaster' of Final Fantasy Tactics might show up. As others have noted, the game's director Yasumi Matsuno also retweeted the State Of Play post, before swiftly deleting it. A PlayStation 5 port of Gravity Rush Remastered has been rumoured too, based on a prior database listing, but this appears to have been debunked. While it's always worth taking such rumours with a pinch of salt, Sony is promising a 40+ minute show, so it should be pretty substantial. The State Of Play broadcast kicks off later today (June 4) at 10pm BST across YouTube and Twitch. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter. Arnold Schwarzenegger fans shocked by his comments about son's 'weenie'
Arnold Schwarzenegger has left fans red-faced after getting candid with his son about filming nude scenes. The legendary action star, 77, sat down with son Patrick, 31, for a wide-ranging interview that covered everything from nepotism, Terminator, and the drive to become the biggest star of all time. Yet it's Arnie's comments about Patrick's full frontal scene in The White Lotus season 3 that have left fans aghast. During the interview, which was part of Variety's Actors on Actors series, the Last Action Hero star admitted to being shocked by seeing his son's 'weenie' on TV. 'I couldn't believe [it],' he laughed. 'I said to myself, 'I'm watching your show, and I'm watching your butt sticking out there.' And all of a sudden, I see the weenie. What is going on here? This is crazy.' Following the interview's publication, however, a number of the star's fans have taken to social media to say how uncomfortable it made them feel. @Harrioson588 wrote on X, 'Absolutely weird and inappropriate. This should not even have been talked about privately, let alone on a public platform.' Meanwhile, @Sassy_0x posted 'They are so wild and weird and creepy,' a feeling echoed by @MayanBronze, who claimed the interview was 'Sooo Creepy….Not funny!' @livnerys, however, went one step further, claiming 'this whole family is weird tbh'. Despite the backlash, there are those who saw the fun side in the pair's exchange. 'Arnold's just being a dad—hilarious and awkward in the best way,' wrote @xpert_growth on X. 'The weenie comment got me [crying with laughter emoji]'. People on Reddit felt the same way with DefinitelytheNSA commenting, 'Watching this whole interview, it was really great to see those father-son moments. You can tell Arnold is really proud of how well his son is doing.' SonofTreehorn added, 'Had no intention of listening to this entire interview. Ended up being a really great discussion that I couldn't turn off. You can feel the love and respect these two have for each other.' Arnie's not the only one of Patrick's parents to let us know how they felt about that nude scene. Patrick's mum, Maria Shriver, 69, laughed off the scene during an appearance on The Jamie Kern Lima Show. 'People are like, 'Oh my God, you saw!' [and] I'm like, 'I give birth to him'. It's not such a, you know, I've seen him naked,' she explained. 'I've seen him naked since he was a baby.' While his parents might be able to laugh off the shock, Patrick has admitted to being caught off guard by the 'extent' of his nakedness. 'I didn't know to what extent [there would be nakedness]. You do the auditions but you don't see the full script, so you don't have all the details, then they ask you, 'Are you comfortable with nudity?' when you sign on,' he told The Sunday Times.
