Four days ahead of its theatrical release, Rajinikanth's much-anticipated 'Coolie', directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has already set the box office ablaze.
As reported by Hindustan Times, the advance booking figures worldwide have crossed an astounding Rs 50 crore, with the momentum showing no signs of slowing down.
Opening its pre-sales internationally before India, the film witnessed a huge surge in ticket sales overseas. In India, where bookings began in a staggered fashion on Friday, the movie has already clocked Rs 14 crore in advance sales, with Rs 10 crore locked in for its opening day alone. The Tamil version leads the pack with nearly Rs 10 crore, while the Telugu and Kannada dubs have started well. The Hindi version is currently trailing but expected to accelerate closer to release.

Shattering records across markets
Overseas, 'Coolie's advance collections look impressive. In the North American market, the film's premiere advance sales have already reached USD 1.7 million (Rs14 crore approx), with USD 1.45 million coming from the USA alone, where more than 56,000 tickets have been sold. This milestone surpasses the premiere record of Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Leo', which grossed USD 1.3 million on its premiere day in the USA. The film's overseas total currently stands at Rs 41 crore—already higher than the lifetime foreign earnings of Kamal Haasan's 'Thug Life'.

With these numbers, 'Coolie' is well on track to beat the all-time Tamil film advance booking record of Rs 46 crore set by Leo.
Rajinikanth's biggest-ever opening
Domestically, the advance numbers have already overtaken 'Jailer's Rs 18 crore India pre-sales record, and reportedly 'Coolie' could potentially double its current figures before its August 14 release. Featuring Rajinikanth alongside Nagarjuna, Upendra, and Shruti Haasan—with a special cameo by Aamir Khan—the film is promised as a true pan-India entertainer.
If early trends continue, 'Coolie' could deliver not just Rajinikanth's career-best opening but also one of the biggest openings in Indian cinema history.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Since both films released on a normal working Thursday, it would be interesting to see how it perform in the evening and night shows, which can play ca rucial role in getting a healthy opening day at the box office. Talking about the Coolie, the movie also features Nagarjuna Akkineni, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy, Kaali Venkat, and Charle in prominent roles. On the other hand, _War 2_, which is helmed by Ayan Mukerji, features Kiara Advani and Ashutosh Rana in key roles. Firstpost gave the film 2.5 stars in its review and wrote, 'War 2 showed promise, not as a coherent story, but at least dumbed-down, cheerful fun when it began. But just like Tiger 3, it began to take itself way too seriously when all it needed to do was guffaw at its silliness. Some endless conversations and combats barely serve any purpose. The sheer disappointment of the enterprise fails its two competent leading men, that have shone in masala stories before. And War 2 is not the end, we have more films in the spy universe coming in. One happens to be Alpha and then whatnot. Shah Rukh Khan once rightly said in an interview, only the dead have seen the end of War.' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD
