Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors
Not long after its Partner Showcase Nintendo Direct last week, Nintendo has once again held another presentation, this time an Indie World presentation focusing on indie games.
The August 2025 Indie World presentation featured eighteen games in all, including newly announced titles, announcements for ports of existing titles, updates to previously known games, and more. At a snappy 15 minutes long, not much time was spent on each game — but there was enough in there to get the gist of most games in the presentation.
The big hitters for the Indie World presentation were bookended at the start and the end of the presentation. The presentation kicked off with Mina the Hollower, a brand-new NES-inspired Zelda-like RPG from Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games, which after years of development finally got a release date in October for both Switch and Switch 2, on the same date as the previously announced PC release date. The presentation then wrapped up with a fantastic shadow drop — UFO 50, an excellent collection of 50 small games and one of the best games of 2024, is out now on Switch.

WATCH: Meghan Markle Cooking Show Drops S2 Trailer After Deal Renewed
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Meghan Markle has dropped the trailer for season two of her Netflix cooking show With Love, Meghan a day after announcing she has signed a new multi-year deal with the streamer. In the video, released Tuesday, Meghan says: "I love the idea of spending time together and finding new ways to show people you care." The trailer was posted to Netflix's official X account with the message: "The best moments are made to be shared ✨ With Love, Meghan returns on August 26th!" Why It Matters Meghan and Netflix jointly announced their new five-year deal on Monday after reports the Sussexes were going to be axed. The new "first look deal" gives Netflix first refusal on projects but does not guarantee them the sky high sums they got first time around, so all eyes will be on how season two performs and whether it leads to season three getting commissioned. The best moments are made to be shared ✨ With Love, Meghan returns on August 26th! — Netflix (@netflix) August 12, 2025 What to Know Meghan and Prince Harry first signed to Netflix in September 2020 for five years in a mega bucks deal that appeared to secure their financial future after quitting the palace earlier that year. Their first show, a biopic retelling the story of their exit from the palace, was a ratings hit but sparked major controversy due to swipes at Harry's family. COURTESY OF NETFLIX Since then, their projects have not drawn the same sky high ratings, and With Love season one got brutal reviews. The Sun and People had both reported the deal would not be renewed, but the duchess got one over on the media when she signed a new "first look deal" announced on Monday. The contract means Netflix has first refusal on projects Meghan and Harry pitch but are not obliged to pay them the major yearly sums dished out during the original five-year deal. It will give Netflix the option to significantly reduce the cost of its partnership with Harry and Meghan without terminating the relationship altogether. And that's important for both sides because Netflix is an equity partner in Meghan's lifestyle business As Ever, where she sells jams, flower sprinkles, other produce and more recently wine. That means it takes a cut of her profits. More than that though, Ted Sarandos, Netflix co-CEO, said in March the company is using As Ever as a "discovery model," suggesting it is a test case with lessons learned rolled out across other shows. "We're a passive partner in Meghan's company, and it's a big discovery model for us right now," he told Variety in March. Had they axed the TV deal, they would have dealt a reputational hammer blow to a lifestyle business the success of which they have invested in substantially. It's also hugely important for the Sussexes reputationally after their Spotify multi-year deal fell apart, with executive Bill Simmons firing a parting shot, calling them "f****** grifters." What People Are Saying Meghan said in a statement released to Newsweek Monday: "We're proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As ever brand." "My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision." Nick Ede, U.K. brand and culture expert, told Newsweek in July that a first look deal would be the best option for both sides: "They've invested a lot into that so they will want to see a return, a massive return. My gut feeling is they will do a first look deal with her." "They will look at the numbers for the new season and see if that does relate to sales, because that's what this is really about. People aren't going to subscribe to Netflix to watch the next Meghan show, so that's done for them from that point of view." What Happens Next Meghan and Netflix on Monday also announced With Love is preparing a festive special due to be broadcast in December. Fans and critics alike will also be keeping a close eye on reviews of the show and whether it does any better than season one. Jack Royston is chief royal correspondent for Newsweek, based in London. Joe Rogan Calls Out Government—'Completely Failed Us'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Joe Rogan called out the federal government over its handling of last year's mysterious drone sightings in the United States on a new episode of his podcast. They "completely failed us," he said on The Joe Rogan Experience. Newsweek reached out to Rogan's representative via email for comment on Tuesday. Why It Matters Rogan is one of the most influential podcast hosts in the world, with The Joe Rogan Experience often number one on Spotify's podcasts charts. Late last year, mysterious drones were spotted throughout Northeastern states, including New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. At the time, residents shared footage of alleged sightings on social media, raising concerns about security threats. Joe Rogan performs standup comedy in Universal City, California, on April 3, 2010. Joe Rogan performs standup comedy in Universal City, California, on April 3, 2010. Paul Archuleta/FilmMagic What To Know On Saturday's episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan interviewed David Kipping, an astronomer and associate professor at Columbia University. At one point, their conversation turned to the topic of UAPs (unidentified anomalous phenomena). "I wonder what they did with those in New Jersey when they were having all of those stupid drone sightings," Rogan said. "What was that all about? That was so strange." "That's one of those things where I feel like the government completely failed us in explaining to people," the former Fear Factor host said. "Like is this some sort of top-secret military thing? Is this another country? Is this some sort of a private business that wants to test how fantastic their drones are. Like why? Why is this happening and why are you freaking everybody out?" "It really sucks that we live in an age of drones and Starlink satellites, because if you see something in the sky now, your immediate reaction is that's probably a human controlled vehicle," Kipping said. "If you could go back to the 1940s, 1930s, if you had UAP reports then, I think they'd be more convincing because that's pre-Sputnik, there shouldn't be anything in orbit of the Earth at that point." In January, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said at the first press briefing of President Donald Trump's second administration that, "after research and study, the drones that were flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized to be flown by the FAA [Federal Aviation Administration] for research and various other reasons... Many of these drones were also hobbyists, recreational and private individuals that enjoy flying time, it got worse due to curiosity. This was not the enemy." In December, Rogan said on X that he was "genuinely concerned" about the drones. Along with his message, the UFC commentator shared a video from Saxon Unmanned founder, John Ferguson, whose company is a manufacturer of "custom remote aircraft systems," according to its website. "The only reason why you would ever fly an unmanned aircraft at night is if you're looking for something," Ferguson said in the video. "So my belief is they're trying to smell something on the ground—gas leak, radioactive material, whatever." What People Are Saying In December, then-Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said on This Week: "There's no question that people are seeing drones. I want to assure the American public that we in the federal government have deployed additional resources, personnel, technology to assist the New Jersey State Police in addressing the drone sightings. Some of those drone sightings are, in fact, drones. Some are manned aircraft that are commonly mistaken for drones. But there's no question that drones are being sighted." What Happens Next New episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience are released weekly on platforms like Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube.

Bret 'The Hitman' Hart Is Upset With WWE Over SummerSlam Incident
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. WWE Hall of Famer Bret "The Hitman" Hart has once again voiced his frustration with WWE. In a new fan convention appearance, Hart claimed the company invited him to SummerSlam earlier this month but then failed to provide him with a seat at the event. The three-time Hall of Famer stated that the incident made him feel that WWE does not fully appreciate his contributions to the business. The comments were made during a recent appearance at the Vaughan Comic Con. Bret Hart: "They Didn't Have Any Seats For Me" Hart explained that he was invited by WWE to be in the crowd for the massive two-night event at MetLife Stadium. However, when he arrived, he was told that there were no seats available for him. "This year, WWE told me that they wanted me to be in the crowd (at SummerSlam)," Hart said. "Then they told me once I got there that they didn't have any seats for me." He then made a pointed reference to another Hall of Famer, his longtime rival Kevin Nash. "But I noticed Kevin Nash got a seat," he added. "Maybe I finally realized that I don't think they really fully appreciate me... there's just no certain appreciation for anything I did." DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA - JULY 08: Special guest referee Bret "The Hitman" Hart is introduced during the WWE Smackdown Live Tour at Westridge Park Tennis Stadium on July 08, 2011 in Durban, South Africa. Steve Haag/More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match Bret Hart's Complicated WWE History Bret Hart has had a famously contentious and bitter relationship with WWE for decades. The animosity is rooted in the infamous "Montreal Screwjob" at Survivor Series in 1997, where WWE owner Vince McMahon secretly changed the finish of Hart's final match, costing him the WWE Championship on his way out of the company. That event created a deep, years-long rift and a sense of betrayal that has colored Hart's perception of the company ever since. Even after his reconciliation with WWE and multiple Hall of Fame inductions, Hart has remained one of the company's most outspoken critics. He has recently been very critical of the in-ring style of stars like GUNTHER and the legacies of legends like Hulk Hogan. Old WWE Rivalries Die Hard Hart's specific mention of Kevin Nash is also rooted in a long history of real-life animosity. Hart has been publicly critical of Nash's in-ring ability and his backstage influence as a member of The Kliq for decades. Seeing his old rival seemingly get preferential treatment at a major event was a clear point of frustration for "The Hitman." Despite his feelings of being unappreciated, Hart was just inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame for a third time this past April, as his WrestleMania 13 match with Steve Austin was given a special "Immortal Moment" induction.
