Disney World begins demolition of beloved landmark
Now, new images have been shared by popular theme park news outlet Blog Mickey that show a massive construction update. Disney has officially started knocking down the buildings in the area, and the snaps show the Studio 1 Company Store in Muppets Courtyard completely destroyed.
The building that was once a booming gift shop selling all-things Muppets is now piles of soot and plaster as the entire store has been knocked down, with just a portion of one of the walls still standing.
When Disney first announced its plans to get rid of the Muppets Courtyard it divided fans - some people were excited for the new stuff coming to Hollywood Studios, while others were heartbroken. And now, the new photos have sparked a slew of negative comments from devastated Muppets' fans.
'I cried when I saw that a few hours ago,' one user replied after the images were shared on X (formerly Twitter). 'Praying they kept some of the Muppets props but it doesn't look hopeful.' 'These pictures truly feel like an open casket or some [expletive] to me they're PAINFUL to look at,' someone else quipped.
'I thought the image they used to snapshot the source was AI generated. What the [expletive] do you mean this is the current state of MuppetVision 3D??!?!?!?' another horrified fan added. 'This hurts my heart to see… I used to work at this store and have so many wonderful memories,' read a fourth comment. A fifth said, 'Man this [expletive] is brutal to watch.' Others called it 'vile' and joked that there should have been a 'content warning' on the photos due to how upsetting they are.
Some simply replied by sharing crying emojis or GIFs of people bawling. The new Monsters Inc. attraction will put riders 'right in the middle of the monster action.' The area will also have a new show featuring fan-favorite characters Mike and Sully, a 'Monsters playground,' multiple eateries - including a Japanese restaurant based on Harry Hausen's from the film - as well as two stores.

Margaret Qualley reveals how she struggled on her own before meeting husband Jack Antonoff
Margaret Qualley has opened up about her relationship with husband Jack Antonoff as she posed for her latest cover-shoot on Monday. The 30-year-old explained that she was 'a late bloomer' and turned to magazines to read about sex which took away the 'shame and embarrassment' surrounding it. The actress, who is the daughter of model Andie MacDowell, also debunked claims of nepotism as she revealed she 'lived out of a suitcase, without any furniture' when she was just 16 until she became financially independent. Speaking to Cosmopolitan, as she posed for sizzling photos, the Maid star said that she always 'felt really lonely' before meeting singer Jack in 2020. She said: 'Jack makes me feel safe and comfortable. I spent so many years trying to be someone's perfect girl, and that girl changed over and over. But I can't lie to Jack—he'd see through it. 'So I just have to be myself. He's been the person I've pictured my whole life. And I'm not even saying that metaphorically. My first crush was Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore, and I've been looking for that essence my whole life. I'm like, "That's Jack".' The actress married Jack in August 2023, in a star-studded affair in New Jersey, where the bride wore a Chanel halter-neck gown, of course, Mary Jane shoes, and her dark locks was styled in a short bob. The celebrity guest list included such A-listers as Taylor Swift, Channing Tatum, Lana Del Rey, Zoe Kravitiz, Cara Delevingne, Alex Wolff and, of course, Andie MacDowell. Margaret has followed in her famous mother's footsteps as she has also been on the September issue of Cosmo, back in 1982. Speaking of her mom Andie's cover shoot she described it as 'iconic' and it made her 'manifest' wanting to be on the magazine as well. She said: 'Ever since I was young, Cosmo has been the only magazine I've avidly read. I was reading this way before I'd had sex. It removed shame from sex. I realized that there's a world in which you can have fun and not be so embarrassed about it all.' Despite having a very famous mum in the industry, Margaret hit back at claims she is a nepo baby as she lived alone in New York 'terrified' from the age of 16. She said: 'It felt terrifying. I didn't have any friends. I didn't know anyone. If a guy got on the elevator, I would get off. I lived all of my 20s out of a suitcase, without any furniture. I had a mattress on the floor. And I became financially independent by the time I was 18, so I was super frugal, too.' It comes after Margaret appeared in Happy Gilmore 2 with Adam Sandler, which she talked her way into because she loves the original film. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actress revealed her husband lied to Adam via text to bag her the role. 'I saw that there was an announcement, like, there's going to be a Happy Gilmore 2. And I emailed my agents right away. And I said, "Anything it takes. No part is too small. Please! I got to be a part of this. I beg of you, please, whatever it takes,' she admitted. Then at some point, Adam texted Jack, asking, 'Does your wife golf at all?' He replied, 'Yeah, she's actually good!' Adam replied, 'No way,' as the music producer asked, 'We talking 'Gilmore' or charity golf tournament?' The actor replied, 'Gilmore. might bug her for a couple days, funny thing. She'd be awesome.' Qualley admitted: 'What a good husband. And I can't golf. He lied for the sake of the family. Yeah.' As for the sport of golf, she admitted: 'Never golfed a day in my life. I'm terrible, actually.' She added that she went into a barn to hit some golf balls for the first time and she did take some lessons: 'But mostly I'm still bad.' When asked about the experience working with Adam, Margaret said: 'He's the best. It was the best thing that's ever happened to me.' She added that Sandler was her, 'first crush' and the original 1996 comedy classic Happy Gilmore is her, 'favorite movie,' adding Sandler is, 'the greatest of all time.'

Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore review – stirring study of activism and adversity of a deaf icon
Shoshannah Stern's study of Marlee Matlin is a film with a real story to tell, about a woman who became a compelling figure in American public life. She is perhaps destined to be known chiefly as the first deaf performer to win an Oscar, for the movie Children of a Lesser God in 1987, but she also campaigned to ensure that Washington DC's Gallaudet University for deaf and hearing-impaired people had a deaf president, and that all new TV sets were built with optional closed-captioning for deaf people. Generally, she has conducted an ongoing campaign to do away with the condescension of pity, and to raise awareness among hearing people about deaf people's consciousness and culture, particularly in sign language. Matlin revealed something more in her 2009 autobiography I'll Scream Later: a history of drug addiction (the Betty Ford clinic told her she had to pay for her own interpreter) and of being sexually abused as a child. She also revealed she'd been abused as an adult by her partner William Hurt, her method-acting co-star in Children of a Lesser God, who was perhaps less than delighted to see all the acclaim go to her and was, in a pre-#MeToo period of exposure, singularly unrepentant. There are some toe-curling TV clips of Matlin being patronised by pundits as the 'sympathy vote' candidate ahead of the 1987 Oscars, and Stern also perhaps mischievously catches out some people in the present day: Nicole Kidman didn't look entirely relaxed applauding in sign language as the drama Coda, about a hearing girl in a deaf family, won at the 2022 Oscars. This is an engaging and thoroughly worthwhile movie. I myself am agnostic, to say the least, about the crowd-pleasing Coda, of which Matlin was a part, but it certainly could not have existed without her and her achievements. Children of a Lesser God is a more self-conscious issue movie, though, perhaps oddly, this documentary doesn't point out its fundamental flaw: Matlin's character is not subtitled, so Hurt's character cumbersomely has to vocalise what she signs for the hearing audience's benefit, as if pondering it to himself. This film makes a rather interesting case that Matlin's achievements showed up as much or more on TV, with her sparkling small roles on Seinfeld and The West Wing. Either way, Matlin is an American pioneer. Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore is in UK cinemas from 8 August

Fans left split as ESPN hires TikTok star, 22, with 14 MILLION followers for new football coverage role
Football fans are divided after it was announced that ESPN will hire a recent college graduate with 14million followers to be a weekly contributor on College GameDay, Sunday NFL Countdown, and Monday Night Countdown. Katie Feeney, a social media influencer with a combined 14m followers across her TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube channels, has signed a deal with 'The Worldwide Leader in Sports' to focus on football-related content. Feeney, who just graduated from Penn State this past spring, will also have a starring role in the company's 'SportsCenter on Snapchat ' social media channel. The move, made public by ESPN's Adam Schefter has drawn significant criticism from core NFL fans due to the company letting go of major talent and journalists in 2025. Under the announcement one person wrote: 'This is why alternative networks, podcasts, and sports media brands are thriving. They are real and authentic. No football fan cares about "lifestyle" content.' Another post read: 'Talent means nothing in 2025 there are actors who can't get jobs because they don't have over 100k following on social media. ESPN firing talent left and right but NVM'. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Katie Feeney (@katiefeeneyy) Another user said: 'When my ten year old daughter knows more about ESPN personalities than me means it's probably time to sign off with the former worldwide leader in sports...' Another wrote: 'There should be a masterclass course to teach how NOT to run a sports media conglomerate.' Others pointed to the new hire as a sign of the times - especially in a world where social media success has begun to dwarf traditional media. One said: 'The reminders and notices I'm old, just keep coming in lol. Just where the world is headed…social media success gets you in regular media. My kid was working as an IG recruiter for an ad company, and it took me a while to even understand what that meant.' Feeney announced the news from the Get Up! studio in New York on her Instagram and received congratulations from sports media stars like Jenny Taft, Kay Adams, and Haley Cavinder among others. Feeney, a Maryland native and the daughter of a state's attorney, began posting to TikTok back when it was known as in 2015. Since then, the now 22-year-old has gained fame on the platform as well as on Snapchat and YouTube shorts. Most of her posts consist of sports, travel, and lifestyle content. She's previously worked as a social media correspondent for the Washington Commanders and at the White House with AKSM Media. Feeney graduated from Penn State in May with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. Part of the backlash Feeney received isn't directed at her hire per se, but the cut back of traditional journalists and shows at the company. Earlier this year, ESPN decided to stop producing 'Around the Horn' after over two decades on the air. ESPN has also parted ways with NBA analyst Jonathan Givony, longtime reporter Michele Steele, and SportsCenter anchor Stan Verrett who will leave at the end of the summer.
