Born into poverty, this actor was dubbed Hema Malini's lookalike; worked with A-listers before dying mysteriously at 33
In the late 1950s, a girl named Ruksana was born in Mumbai's Mahim area to a poor family. Her humble beginnings did not deter her dreams, and by the time she stepped into the world of cinema, she had already begun shaping a career that, while not leading her to superstardom, would leave a mark on audiences. From then on, she appeared in several big productions, including Lawaris (1981), Ek Duje Ke Liye (1981), Khuddar (1982), and Razia Sultan (1983). On screen, she became a familiar presence in ensemble casts, portraying characters that added depth to the story even if they weren't at the centre of it. Ruksana's resemblance to the reigning 'Dream Girl' of Bollywood, Hema Malini, became a talking point. Industry insiders and audiences alike noted the similarity in their facial features, and it was this comparison that led her to adopt the screen name Madhu Malini. The name stuck, and under it, she continued her steady run in Hindi cinema. One of her most remembered roles came in Avatar (1983), where she played an evil daughter-in-law. The performance was widely noticed, further cementing her place as a versatile supporting actor. Yet, despite back-to-back critically acclaimed performances, she found herself typecast in secondary roles, unable to break into the league of lead heroines in Hindi films. While Bollywood didn't offer her the starring roles she might have hoped for, she found success in regional cinema. She acted in Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Gujarati films, expanding her repertoire and earning recognition beyond the Hindi film industry. The 1970s and 80s saw her working consistently, and though she never reached the pinnacle of stardom, she maintained a presence on screen. In 1983, she fulfilled her wish of playing a lead role in the Punjabi film Ambri. However, her life came to a tragic and mysterious end in the late 1980s. She was found dead in her apartment under unexplained circumstances. With no major breakthroughs in the investigation, the case was eventually closed. She was only 33 years old.

Composition of 'Kaisi Paheli' was rare, the poetry was unlike most songs of that time: Rekha
New Delhi, Veteran actor Rekha says classic track "Kaisi Paheli" from the 2005 film "Parineeta" emerged as a "metaphor for life" and was unlike most of the songs. Composition of 'Kaisi Paheli' was rare, the poetry was unlike most songs of that time: Rekha Sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, the track featured Rekha and has gained immense popularity right after its release. The song is regarded as one of the best examples of jazz in Hindi cinema. It had lyrics by Swanand Kirkire and was composed by Shantanu Moitra. Rekha said the song was atmospheric. "'Kaisi Paheli' was not just a song—it was a mood, a vibe, and a metaphor for life. The song was so atmospheric; it reminded me of the time gone by and a certain enigma of a woman who owns her narrative," she said in a statement. "Even 20 years ago, it stood out; the composition was rare, and the poetry was unlike most songs of that time. As I stepped onto that jazz club set, I became the jazz singer. Even today, when I hear the song, it brings a smile… It's one of those Pahelis you never want to solve; you just want to live it," she added Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, "Parineeta" was adapted from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's iconic 1914 Bengali novel by late Pradeep Sarkar. The film will be re-released on its 20th anniversary on August 29. The restored version of the film will be screened in theatres across India. Starring Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan, the film revolved around childhood friends, Lalita and Shekhar, who gradually fall for each other. Shekhar's father is eyeing the house of Lalita's uncle as he hopes to build a hotel there. Lalita comes to know of this plan but a family friend, Girish, played by Sanjay Dutt, steps forward to help her. This leads to a major misunderstanding between the two lovers. The film has been restored by Prasad Film Labs. This article was generated from an automated news agency feed without modifications to text.

War 2: Hrithik Roshan And Jr NTR Lock Horns In Deadly New Promo; Advance Booking Opens Now
Last Updated: Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR clash in an intense new War 2 promo as advance booking begins. The high-octane action thriller releases on August 14. It's almost time! War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR in lead roles, is all set to hit theatres on August 14, and the buzz is sky-high. Now, just about a week before the film's grand release, the makers have announced that advance booking for the action thriller is open, and tickets are currently on sale. The news of advance booking also came with a special pre-release gift, as the makers dropped a new action promo of the film. The action promo featured yet another deadly fight between Hrithik and Jr NTR. While dropping the promo and announcing the opening of advance booking, the makers wrote, 'Are you ready to witness the CARNAGE in cinemas from August 14th? BOOK TICKETS NOW for #War2 and let us give you an experience to cherish for the rest of your lives 🔥🔥 Releasing in Hindi, Telugu & Tamil in theatres worldwide! (Link in bio)" As the makers dropped the promo with the happy news, fans started reacting to it. One wrote, 'Can't wait 🔥." Another fan shared, 'This promo >>>> trailer and teaser." Meanwhile, a third fan wrote, '7 tickets booked already." Meanwhile, a report by Bollywood Hungama claimed that the CBFC examined the film closely and asked the makers to carry out multiple audio and visual modifications. The most notable changes include muting 'inappropriate references" in six separate places in the film. An 'obscene" dialogue was completely replaced with an approved, toned-down sentence. Additionally, a two-second 'obscene" gesture—occurring roughly a minute after the controversial dialogue—was ordered to be removed entirely. About War 2 The film's plot sets up an intense face-off between Hrithik Roshan's character, Major Kabir Dhaliwal, and Jr NTR's Vikram. Both are Indian spies but operate on vastly different interpretations of patriotism, leading to a clash that promises to be both physical and ideological. Kiara Advani steps in as Kavya Luthra, a character expected to play a pivotal role in the unfolding drama. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 serves as the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, which starred Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff, and Vaani Kapoor. The first film was a runaway hit, praised for its slick action and stylish storytelling. This sequel is also a part of the growing YRF Spy Universe, which connects characters and narratives from films like Pathaan and Tiger Zinda Hai. War 2 promotions The makers of War 2 are using quite an interesting marketing strategy to promote the film, with Jr NTR and Hrithik doing hilarious things to pull each other's leg. First, Jr NTR parked a billboard truck outside Hrithik's Mumbai residence. The billboard, featuring Jr NTR's photo from War 2, also had the text, 'Ghungroo toot jaayenge par hum se yeh war jeet nahi paaoge." Later, Hrithik hit back with a hilarious comeback. Hrithik sent a billboard to NTR's residence featuring a photo of himself with the text, 'Naatu Naatu as much as you want but I am winning this war." Sharing the picture, Jr NTR wrote, 'Nice return gift @hrithikroshan sir… But this is not the end! The War begins for real on 14th August. See you then! 😎" First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
