Community Spotlight: Danville AMBUCS 100-year anniversary
On April 15, Danville AMBUCS turned 100 years old, and they are doing several things this summer to celebrate the milestone. On June 20, a band will be performing at the Turtle Run Banquet Center. They have invited members of the national board from across the country to attend this event, as well as Danville AMBUCS members and the public.
Community Spotlight: Crescent City Fireball Festival
The following morning on June 21, they will be hosting Challenger Baseball, which is eight teams of kids playing. That same evening, AMBUCS will be going out to Big Thorn Brewery in Georgetown to have a relaxing night of food, drinks and information.
Challenger Baseball is one of Danville AMBUCS biggest projects of the year. This year, they increased from six to eight teams, and they play every Saturday in June from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Super Soccer program for special needs children and adults will also be starting in September, with registration open now.

Danville High School senior named Drum Corps member
DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — One Danville High School senior received a high honor as the newest member of a drumline competing for a world championship. Eddie Johnson auditioned during the winter and practice camps and was offered a contract to play tenor for the River City Rhythm Drum and Bugle Corps Drumline. This group is based in Anoka, Minnesota and will spend the summer rehearsing and performing throughout the Midwest. 'She had such a huge impact on the community,' Project Success mourns employee's passing The drumline will be preparing for the Drum Corps International World Championships in Indianapolis, which will end their season in August. Danville High School Band Alumni Jacob Kittle, class of 2023, is also a member of Rivery City Rhythm and is a member of the Contra (tuba) section. 'We are so proud of all that Eddie has accomplished in his goal of making a Drum and Bugle Corps Drumline as a high school student,' Danville School District 118 said in a Facebook post. Community Spotlight: Village of Bement events
BEMENT, Ill. (WCIA) — Jody Shonkwiler, the Village of Bement Activities Director, joined WCIA's Taylor Mitchell to talk about some events in the community. The village's town-wide garage sales are taking place this Thursday-Saturday. On Sunday, Bement will be having their Music in the Park event. The music festival is a free concert from 4-7 p.m. in Veterans Park and will include three musicians and food trucks. Community Spotlight: Ford County Fair 2025 The village also has a big Fourth of July event this year put on by the Bement Community Council. The day will include a 5K walk and a 1 mile 'fun walk' starting at 8 a.m. at the Forest Preserve Park. Other activities will start after the 2 p.m. parade from 3-6 p.m. And for the first time ever, attendees will be able to watch the fireworks show from the football field which begins at dusk.
