Nuggets' 2026 NBA title odds soar after big offseason moves
Oddsmakers are taking notice of the Nuggets.
After falling to the eventual NBA champion Thunder in seven games during the semifinal round, Denver has positioned itself as one of the top contenders for the 2026 title.
After a bevy of shrewd moves, the Nuggets jumped from +1600 odds before free agency to +700 to win it all next season, which is the second-best mark at BetMGM Sportsbook.
'We love what the Nuggets did,' BetMGM trading manager Hal Egeland said in a statement.
'Every move they've made has been smart. The Nuggets are our most-bet team since free agency started.'
Cam Johnson will play for the Nuggets this upcoming season.

The Nuggets biggest move thus far this summer was a trade that sent Michael Porter Jr. and a 2032 first-round pick to the Nets in exchange for Cam Johnson, improving the team defensively without giving up much offensively.
That deal cleared enough cap space to allow Denver to sign former Nugget Bruce Brown and sharpshooter Tim Hardaway Jr. to free agent deals.
The franchise also traded for big man Jonas Valanciunas, although he may leave the NBA to play in Greece.
Oklahoma City, which is a +275 favorite to repeat as champions, is still the class of the league, but Denver is arguably better suited to compete with them next season than it was with its thin rotation during this past playoff run.
The Nuggets have an older roster, so it's probably wise to stay away from their regular season win total.

But once playoff time comes, the suddenly-deep Nikola Jokic and Co. are as sure of a playoff team as any.

2024-25 Thunder player grades: Alex Ducas
The calendar has flipped to August, which means we've officially hit the low point of the NBA cycle. The next couple of months are the driest part of the year. Everybody has headed to vacation and awaits training camp to kick off the 2025-26 season. The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to enjoy their NBA championship. They had a historic 68-14 regular-season campaign that eventually led to the franchise's first title with a 2025 NBA Finals Game 7 win. They'll enter next season as a favorite to be a rare repeat winner. To reflect on their title run, Thunder Wire will conduct 2024-25 season grades for all 19 players who suited up for the squad at one point during the year. Seventeenth up is Alex Ducas, who spent the year on a two-way deal: 2024-25 statistics: Advanced stats: Significant Percentile Finishes: Contract: Thoughts: If Ducas' NBA career is over after one season, he had his money's worth. The 24-year-old can always say he was part of one of the greatest teams in league history and got a championship ring out of it. Besides that, though, not much to write about his forgettable tenure. The Thunder added Ducas on a two-way deal. He went undrafted out of Saint Mary's. He was brought in as an outside shooter. In his limited time, the numbers showed that. Because the Thunder blew teams out left and right, the end of their bench received plenty of garbage time throughout the year. Ducas benefitted from that. He appeared in 21 games. A high number for somebody who missed most of the season dealing with injuries. Besides that, he didn't do much else during his time with the Thunder. Not much either with the G League's OKC Blue, either. He faded into the background of most games. It just didn't work out for Ducas on the Thunder. He was added to their 2025 Summer League squad, hinting that maybe they'd like to bring him back for a second season. But those hopes were quickly erased when he signed a deal to go to Australia's NBL. Most undrafted players usually have Ducas' career arc. They stay for one season, but don't get many chances to stay. The injuries certainly didn't help. He missed a good chunk of the year because of them. Even though he only lasted a season in the NBA, he can at least say he experienced a championship. Moving Forward: Even though Ducas didn't do much, he at least proved he can be an outside shooter. The shooting splits reflect that. That'll be his bread and butter the rest of the way, regardless of what level of professional basketball he's in. The NBL was excited to add the NBA champion to its league. They don't get too many guys with that type of experience. Let's see if Ducas can look more comfortable at home. Perhaps he can be a player who spends some time overseas before being given a second shot at the NBA. There's always a need for outside shooters. If he can increase his volume for a couple of years, he can return to the league. The Thunder loved what they saw from Ducas at Maryland. To get a two-way deal as an undrafted rookie is quite the accomplishment. They tried to see if he could show anything at the next level. A handful of injuries limited his opportunities. While his decision to leave the Thunder for the NBL was a bit of a shocker, it's not a catastrophic loss. They still have a vacant two-way spot on their roster. Surely they can find somebody who has equal or greater upside than Ducas over the next couple of months. Final Grade: D-minus

Broncos 27, Cardinals 7: Takeaways from offensive performance on offense
The Arizona Cardinals played their second preseason game Saturday night, and it was not a pretty game. They were blown out by the Denver Broncos 27-7. It wasn't a good game on either side of the ball. Offensively, it was bad. What can we take away from the offensive performance? Feels good with Jacoby Brissett For the second straight game, new Cardinals backup Jacoby Brissett impressed. This time, he played only two drives in the first quarter. The first one went only six yards in five plays, picking up a first down, but he led the Cardinals to another touchdown, throwing a beautiful pass to receiver Simi Fehoko for the score. He was 6-of-8 passing for 57 yards and a touchdown, and he picked up a first down on a two-yard quarterback sneak. It gives fans comfort knowing that there is a capable, even competent, backup behind Kyler Murray. However, we must also remember that the five possessions he has played in two preseason games, while three have results in touchdowns, they were all against their opponents' backups. The offensive numbers are just bad The Cardinals gained only 135 yards of offense the entire night. They had only eight first downs. If you take away Brissett's two possessions, quarterback Clayton Tune led the Cardinals on eight drives that netted 62 yards and three first downs. They went three-and-out five times. There was no running game Now, the Cardinals didn't play their starters, so no starting offensive line and no James Conner or Trey Benson. But even still, they gained only 36 yards on 17 carries. At least there were no turnovers If there was one bright side to the Cardinals' abysmal offensive night was the fact that they did not turn the ball over. They didn't fumble at all and no interceptions were thrown, so at least it was a turnover-free game. 3 Arizona Cardinals players who improved their stock in preseason loss to the Broncos
The Arizona Cardinals lost their second preseason game Saturday night, a 27-7 defeat to the Denver Broncos in which they allowed 562 yards and only gained 135. They didn't play any of their starters expect for rookie cornerback Will Johnson and new linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither. There weren't a lot of positives, but a few players helped their stock as we approach final cuts and the 53-man roster. Which players stood out? QB Jacoby Brissett Brissett doesn't have any worry about making the roster, as he has the backiup quarterback job locked up. However, he led the Cardinals to another touchdown, giving him three touchdown passes in five preseason possessions. They have come against opponent backups, but the ease with which he operates the offense and moved the ball down the field, there is confidence that the offense will be okay should Kyler Murray ever get hurt. WR Simi Fehoko Fehoko had his first preseason action, missing last week's game with a quad injury. He had two receptions for 21 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown reception. He also made a special teams tackle. He is a player most fans won't know, but the TV broadcast emphasized he is good on special teams. He showed enough to probably secure a spot on the roster, especially considering he ha almost all his salary guaranteed in 2025. K Chad Ryland He only had the one extra point and did not have a field-goal attempt, But before the game, he drilled a 72-yard field goal. There is no issue with his leg. That was about it.
