HOW did Gayton's son raise R50m to buy soccer club?
The businessman is the firstborn of the Minister of Sport, Art and Culture who has taken over the family businesses.
Le John – who uses his mother's maiden name – is hoping his new club fills the void left behind by Bloemfontein Celtics, which later became Royal AM.
Speaking in his first interview, Calvin Le John answered burning questions about acquiring the 'new' PSL club, Siwelele FC.
One of them was how he managed to raise R50 million to buy the club. Another was how and when the business transaction occurred.
Gayton McKenzie's son revealed that the sale took place via an auction, and he bid R50 million for the club, which was ultimately accepted.

He added that he sold shares to the family's diamond mine to a consortium to the sum of a whopping R90 million.
Calvin Le John also shot down rumours the money was raised through corrupt tenders or via Gayton McKenzie's right-hand man, Kenny Kunene.
He continued: 'I saw a rumour that I got a tender for R70 million, and that's a blatant lie.'
'I don't have any friends, associates, or family members who are doing any work in the city or the department of sports, for that matter. I don't do tenders. I tried, but seeing people being arrested is scary.
'I'm in different businesses, but I don't deal with the state'..
He added: 'If anybody has information about me receiving R70 million, let them bring it out. I have nothing to hide'.
Le John added that SuperSport United required him to 'prove' how he acquired the funds to purchase the club.
On Saturday, 9 August – which marks Women's Day in South Africa – Siwelele will make their debut in the league with a Betway Premiership match against Golden Arrows.
The club will play in their home turf in Bloemfontein at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Mangaung.

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana star spotted at new club
Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana star defender Njabulo Ngcobo has reportedly been spotted at a new club. Ngcobo recently parted ways with Sekhukhune United where he only lasted for a season. Now, according to iDiski Times , Ngcobo is currently in the Mother City to try his luck with Cape Town City. Cape Town City appear likely to be preparing for life in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. This despite their recent fight to have Marumo Gallants docked points so that they can return to the Betway Premiership. As things stand, Gallants remain in the Betway Premiership after the PSL DC slapped them with just a R200 000 fine. Now, having already lost a few of their senior players, including Thabo Nodada, City could well benefit from Ngcobo's experience. Ngcobo was named the best defender in the league during the 2021-22 season, before he signed for Chiefs where he made 45 appearances during his three-year stint. Western Cape High Court dismisses woman's claim for estranged husband's share of home sale
A Cape Town woman who wanted to access her husband's portion after selling their home had her application dismissed by the High Court. Image: File The Western Cape High Court has dismissed a woman's application to access her estranged husband's share following the sale of their matrimonial home. The estranged couple, who were married for nearly a decade, have been embroiled in legal battles since divorce proceedings commenced in August 2024. They tied the knot in November 2015 in Bogotá, Republic of Colombia, and are parents to a 9-year-old son. The husband suffered a stroke when he was 23, and as a result, his parents, who own a fruit export business in Colombia, financially supported him for over 20 years and later extended the financial support to his wife and child. The wife received a monthly allowance of R90 000 which she used for her personal expenses as well as supporting their child. The mother-in-law assisted the couple to buy their matrimonial home in Stellenbosch. However, in June 2023, the relationship began to deteriorate, which led the husband to leave their home in May 2024. Video Player is loading. In August 2024, whilst the matrimonial home was on the market for sale, the husband instituted divorce proceedings, which have not been finalised. He offered to pay R5 000 towards child maintenance and made no offer towards his wife. The house was eventually sold and the woman filed an application to have her husband's portion as she sought spousal maintenance and an increased amount for child maintenance. In his reply, the court heard that the husband's family business in Colombia was undergoing liquidation due to severe economic difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. He explained that he did not voluntarily leave the matrimonial home, he said he was barred from entry by his wife and her father threatened with a firearm. He was subsequently compelled to find alternative accommodation.
